I have been fighting a cold for a week now, so it's time for a nice, healing bath. Also a great time to get started on the next books in my #neworleans #tbr for my upcoming trip to #nola . I've already read books on Voodoo, Marie Laveau, and Madame Lalaurie. Next up are The Awakening, The Axeman, and Nine Lives. Any votes for which one I should start with??? #readinginthebath #bathtimereading

5feet.of.fury I haven‘t read The Awakening since college, but I loved it. You have such a great set up for your bath 🛁 1y

Very powerful. The book follows nine Lower Ninth Ward residents and culminates shortly after Katrina.
The book is a sad reminder of how our government failed New Orleans

It was hard to keep track of the people with how the book was written so that took some away for me. I was just in NOLA so interesting to read about the areas devastated by Katrina.

Leftcoastzen Such a beautiful floof! 2y

This store was crazy! #NOLA

Leftcoastzen It even looks like wine box or fruit crate shelves at the end of rows, there was a store in Long Beach , Ca called Acres of Books with teetering boxes like that. 2y
JenReadsAlot @Leftcoastzen I was so afraid of toppling over a pile! 2y

KristiAhlers OMG so my best friend and I go to NOLA at least I once a year and we go to this bookstore every single time. Happiness all around. 2y
JenReadsAlot @KristiAhlers This is my first trip! Any other recommendations? 2y
KristiAhlers @JenReadsAlot you NEED to go to Erin Rose and get a frozen Irish coffee. It‘s off Bourbon about half a block. Eat at Acme oyster house! Their Po‘boys and Boo Fries are ahhhmazing. 2y
JenReadsAlot @KristiAhlers Frozen Irish Coffee sounds amazing! Thanks for both suggestions! 2y

As a nod to my upcoming first time trip to New Orleans November 19 to 22. Frightens I‘d read this and re-read Interview with a Vampire just because...

If you‘ve ever been to New Orleans French Quarter, I‘m sure you‘ve seen the Lucky Dog vendors. This book, written by a historian by training & Lucky Dog general manager by trade, retells his real life experiences of working with real life Ignatious Reillys and the spin of Fortuna from 1970 to the mid ‘90s. Entertaining, humorous & providing great ways to describe hotdogs, like ‘8 inches of fun on a bun‘ or ‘tube steaks‘. Fun little read.

Planned and partially built in the 1700s, the French Quarter is the soul of the city of New Orleans.
