Not quite what I was expecting, but still interesting. This book is a collection of faeries stories collected by William Butler Yeats around his beloved Ireland.

Which works for my #Scarathalon theme for #TeamStoker (3 pts) & my prompt from WAY back in Winter for #Booked2019 #SetInIreland #IrishAuthor

But I have to say, with the way we view horror today, people being “disappeared” to faerie, and visions & haunting isn‘t quite as scary.

The plot lines are solid. I was taken along to follow a smart mystery set in a grey and dark Ireland. Not violent physically but the emotional and psychological violence is real and sometimes very much so. Trigger warnings in effect.

Thank you @Cinfhen for the reminder post about closing out #winter for #booked2019. I ended up crossing off 4 of the prompts: the tagged book for #newtoyouauthor; An Irish Country Love Story for #setinIreland/Irishauthor; The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie for #femaledetective; The Woman in Blue, #remindsyouofyourhappyplace for making me long to be back in the English countryside. This is a pretty good result for me!

Cinfhen Well done! Thanks for posting and tagging 😊😘 8mo

Just okay for me--I liked the overall plot, characters, and the sprinkling of Irish history and knowledge throughout.

But I struggled through the second half and ended up just skimming the last few chapters. There were too many plot points going on and while the ending was realistic, it left me feeling sad and disappointed.

Another great one by Tana French. I think I enjoyed this one more than In the Woods. It kept me guessing until the end and had me so enthralled, I could barely put the book down! #setinireland #booked2019 #litsyatoz #f

A fine, light read. When Stella contracts a rare disease she becomes completely paralyzed able to only blink her eyes to communicate. Romantic and familial complications ensue, and Stella must figure out how to lead her life. A bit meandering and a bit predictable, I didn‘t feel particularly for any of the characters. Wrapped up the first set of prompts for #booked2019 with this one. #setinireland
