September: Calendar Girl Book 9 | Audrey Carlan
31 posts | 5 read | 1 to read
"Be prepared for a serious book hangover as you embark on a year's worth of sexy heroes and wild rides!" Meredith Wild, #1 NYT Bestselling Author of the Hacker Series Synopsis Vegas, Viscous Exes, and Ventilators. My life felt like a fast ride on a too short highway. Coming home should be roses and rainbows, but nothing that comes out of the desert blooms free. I was most certainly not free. Id missed my payment to Blaine, owed the last client a hundred grand I didnt have, and my father was on his deathbed. To make matters worse, Wes was missing in action. As in, no one had seen or heard from him in three weeks. Devastation didnt begin to explain where my mental state was at. Like anything life had thrown my way, I pulled on my big girl panties, not the sexy lacy ones I enjoyed teasing my guy with, but the kind that said, This ass means business. I had no choice but to make the decision I made. My ex, the man that ruined the concept of love for me, put my father in the hospital, was about to get everything he ever wantedat least thats what I led him to believe. *** In the ninth book of the Calendar Girl serial, Mia rushes back home to Las Vegas, Nevada. Things have taken a turn for her father, putting her into debt up to her eyeballs. Each installment in the Calendar Girl Serial will release every month throughout 2015. The stories will feature Mias journey as an escort to twelve clients in twelve different locations.

Going back to school is always hit or miss for me reading wise... I would like to read 10 books this month but I feel like that is a bit ambitious! #readinggoals #selfimprovementsept @OriginalCyn620 @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks

These are my #ReadingGoals for September. I didn‘t read much nonfiction in August, so that‘s a main priority. I also have several books from the #MMD summer reading list that I‘d still like to read, and, I‘m just ready to mark off some more of my challenges before the end of the year gets too busy! #SelfImprovementSept

OriginalCyn620 Great goals! 😊 3mo
MallenNC @OriginalCyn620 I almost included reading books I already own, but we both know how that goes! I am going to try to avoid buying this month though. 3mo

OriginalCyn620 @MallenNC Yes, I do! I bought a book the other day because it‘s an autumn book and I couldn‘t help myself! But no more of that 😉 3mo

Reposting for @arlenefinnigan and @Cinfhen - this month‘s music challenge is all about the county of Lancashire....

If you‘ve enjoyed exploring Yorkshire in the #ayupaugust challenge then why not broaden your horizons to Lancashire too?! (Psst - Yorkshire is better though! 🤣)

Post a picture of a book that fits with the daily prompt above, use #redroseseptember and tag your hosts @arlenefinnigan and @Cinfhen - have fun!

Cinfhen Thanks for sharing and reposting 🥳🥳🥳I need a geography lesson ASAP @TrishB @KarenUK @jenniferw88 😘😘😘 (edited) 3mo
arlenefinnigan @Cinfhen well it all started with the Duke of York's death in 1460...... *loads up PowerPoint* 3mo

CarolynM @arlenefinnigan @TrishB @Andrew65 😂😂😂 Thanks for the prompts this month @squirrelbrain and @Cinfhen sorry I've not participated much - winter has slowed my brain to a near standstill. No reelection on the relative merits of Yorkshire and Lancashire but I'll try to do better in September. 3mo

britt_brooke @MallenNC I listened to probably 3/4 of Les Mis on audio so that really helped. 14mo
MallenNC @britt_brooke I have started doing that with the giant sized classics. The audio format really helps me connect with the story. 14mo
britt_brooke @MallenNC This is the first massive classic I‘ve listened, too, and I agree. I‘ll definitely be tackling some others this way. 14mo

This wasn't that good of a reading month for me. I'm not sure why, but I got into a big reading slump all throughout September.

I only read 5.
The Hazel Wood, Grace & Fury, The Knife of Never Letting Go, The Selection, and Royal Bastards.
4 print books and 1 ebook.
Grace & Fury, Knife of Never, and Royal Bastards were 5🌟, The Selection was 4🌟, The Hazel Wood was 3🌟.
Longest was Knife of Never, shortest was Grace & Fury.
Total pages: 1879

Bookaholicforlife I gave the hazel wood about the same rating 14mo

InBooksILive @Bookaholicforlife yeah it just fell flat for me! It had so much great hype around it, too. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 14mo
Bookaholicforlife @InBooksILive I agree! I loved the beginning and end but everything in between was just blah for me. It‘s sad cause I really thought I was going to love it. 14mo
InBooksILive @Bookaholicforlife those are the parts I liked too, beginning and ending but like you said the middle was just ughh! So disappointed about it 14mo

A pretty good reading month for me. I'm also managing to get used to audiobooks, i still start with the shorter ones but i think i'll increase the length of the books gradually. 😊
#Septemberstats #Monthlywrapup #september

Rissreads I always go for the long audio books, more for my money! I also pick things with lots of foreign names etc, I find them much easier to listen to than read myself. 14mo
sudi @Rissreads i wish i had your attention span, i get distracted easily or else i completely zone out🙈. I don't have audible, i just started trying out audiobooks when i joined Litsy this year. I usually just use Librivox app for free classics audiobooks 😄. I think the longest audiobook i finished was Jane Eyre . Although It was a mistake to pick that book right at the start. 14mo
Rissreads I love them especially if the reader is good. I spend a lot of time in the car driving after I‘ve dropped my kids off to sport etc and I mainly listen to them then, or if I‘m waiting in the car for them to finish. I also listen when I‘m walking the dog and doing boring housework! 14mo
sudi @Rissreads yeah, they're pretty good, if there are some classics i find boring to read, i usually go for the audiobooks 😊🙌 14mo

I won‘t finish another book this month so here‘s my reads for the month. It was great. I also bailed on like 4-5 books. None of these were amazing. Killing Floor was probably the best and the rest were okay to good.

I need 23 more reads to hit my goal of 100 this year. 3 months. I thinks it‘s doable!

Repost for @CaliforniaCay :
I'm horrible at keeping up with prompts, but since September is my favorite month, I decided to shake things up a bit and make my own prompt! I'm not sure how consistent I'll be with posting myself, but I would love to see how you other littens (if anyone else participates) interpret these different daily challenges. So feel free to repost share and tag me all month long! 🤗 #SisforSeptember

TK-421 I think there's been some confusion here... I tagged @LitsyHappenings to repost @CaliforniaCay's photo challenge, but this text is about a buddy read ? Original post re: #SisforSeptember here: http://litsy.com/p/N2J1ZXBEVlRC 1y

EadieB @Andrew65 yes I‘m doing audios of her books! By the way, how was your first day back? When do the kids go back? 1y
Andrew65 @EadieB Very busy working with staff analysing results and identifying priorities we need to move forward on . No children but still did 7.30 am to 6 pm! More training tomorrow (maths) then children back in Wednesday. Like I‘ve never been away but so missed my reading and the sea! 1y

EadieB @Andrew65 Sounds busy! You should put a big poster of the sea in your office! 1y
Andrew65 @EadieB True Possibly should get a screen print of my favourite picture. Good idea! Difficult to be without the sea when you have had 45 days and nights overlooking it. 1y
EadieB @Andrew65 I guess you could say that you have a bit of seasickness! 1y
Andrew65 @EadieB Yes miss the sound and smell of the sea and the wave action. Unfortunately live at least an hour and a half drive from the sea. Need to move! 1y

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Only in my dreams could I read that many books in a month!!! 1y
Andrew65 @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Last September I managed 13, so unlikely to get to them all with work. 1y
Leftcoastzen I know you are a Binchy fan,how can it be you haven‘t read her first 1y
Tove_Reads Let me know when you‘re about to hit Wednesday! 1y
Andrew65 @Tove_Reads Aiming to do it next week (w/c 10th September) just need to look at other commitments and decide what day I will start it in. 😊 (edited) 1y
Tove_Reads I‘ll be in London this coming week, so 10th onwards would work for me! Reading The Chalk Pit now! 1y
Andrew65 @Tove_Reads Enjoy London and The Chalk Pit. I am back to work tomorrow. What about either starting Tuesday 11th or Wednesday 12th. Looking at the length I would suggest reading it over 5 or 6 days with work commitments. 1y
Tove_Reads Sounds good to me. I have it as an ebook, so haven‘t even looked at it. 1y
Andrew65 @Tove_Reads I‘ve got it as an ebook too, but amazon has it down as 576 pages (paperback). 1y
Tove_Reads Dammit! Not a chunkster 🤷🏼‍♀️ 1y
Andrew65 @Tove_Reads No just misses that honour! 😂 1y
Tove_Reads At one point we need to get back to Shardlake as well. Chunkster for sure. Is it number four next? 1y
Andrew65 @Tove_Reads Yes we do, and it will be number 4. 1y
Leftcoastzen I was really shocked that you haven‘t read the first Binchy ,since you enjoy her books so much. 1y
Andrew65 @Leftcoastzen I came to Binchy late so started off with her more recent books in the main 2000 onwards, so now catching up on her early ‘big‘ ones. 1y

My overly ambitious #SeptemberTBR. There‘s a very strong chance that I‘ll bail on Mrs. Frisby and/or Snap, as they‘re two of the books I started in August and am struggling through. The rest are library books I have checked out, a NetGalley ARC that releases this month, the #LesMisBuddyRead, and the next #agathachristieclub book.

Kalalalatja Good luck 👏👏 1y

I think I‘ve overcommitted myself in September! Here are my three remaining #makemereadit books, House of the Spirits for my library book club, Les Miserables (finally!) for #lesmisbuddyread, and I‘ve been contemplating dropping in on #LosersClub for #TheLongWalk. Not pictured: On a Pale Horse (on Kindle) for #IncarnationsChapterADay (and the subsequent Incarnations books as they come). 😬 Will see how far I get! #SeptemberTBR #readingresolutions
