My first time reading this book, although I have watched it on the TV. I completely loved the plot and storyline especially the unreliable author. Full review here: https://thecuriousmagpie2018.wordpress.com/2019/12/05/audiobook-review-the-murde...

I have a habit of reading mysteries in between voluminous reads and once again Dame Christie did NOT disappoint. Seldom have I come across a book that looks to be a simple straightforward story but ends up being something that will blow your mind off. The plot is cleverly written, the characters are wonderfully fleshed out and the way the story unfolds will keep you guessing till the very end only to bring in an unexpected twist. My rating 5/5.

#mysterious - For today‘s prompt, I just had to go with the Queen of Mystery herself! 🧐👸🏻
This was a fun listen. I don‘t tend to read or listen to mysteries very often, but I always enjoy those by Agatha Christie when I do.

Posting covers I love with no explanation for 7 days @SoManyBooksNotEnoughTime if you haven‘t been tagged already do you want to play?
I had the big twist revealed to me a few years ago (and of course had forgotten) yet still didn‘t see it coming until about ten pages before it happened. Such a great book, loved it!
While putting my book away I saw this list at the back of her book. Looks like I have my reading list set! Now I just need to look for these books at thrift stores, yard sales, second hand book shops, etc. Sometimes I think the hunt for the book is just as exciting as reading them. #tbr #bookhunt #mystery #bookhaul #readinglist
The more I read Christie's stories the more I fall in love with her mystery books. 🧐 This was a great beach read and I can't wait to read more of her books! I just need to now buy them.... ♥️👀🕵️ #mystery #whodoneit #beachread
On my way to expand it...
I wish I had more but I mostly read E-books.

What a fun ride! I loved reading this classic detective story- it had everything you'd expect from a great whodunit, and I totally didn't see the ending coming.
Thank you Michelle!

There's something about reading from an old copy of a book that's always especially comforting.
I tore through this one last weekend, and I‘m still thinking about it. This was one of those endings where I felt tricked, then thought, “Well, of course...”, but then kept thinking of reasons the murderer couldn‘t be who it turned out to be, and then kept finding myself proved wrong when I flipped back to certain scenes. I want to re-read it in order to pick up on the clues I missed.

Been in a slight reading slump but Poirot always seems to get me out of those. Re-reading one of my favorites, The Murder of Roger Ackroyd.🕵🏻♂️ #tbrr2019
It‘s easy to see why this is considered one of Christie‘s best. What a twist at the end! Honestly didn‘t see that coming.
Read this in one sitting! Full of the characteristic Christie charm I have come to love and a twist I almost didn‘t see coming. Though everything clicked in place the page before the reveal 😅I can see why this one is heavily recommended. I thought the end could have been wrapped up quicker than it was but overall I really liked it! And Then There Were None is still my favorite though! 4🌟 -This is me getting caught up on reviews 😅
Meh. It was interesting for the first half, and then the rest of the book just dragged. Also that quick wrap up ending in 4 pages frustrated me GRR 😡🤦🏻♀️

Currently reading this one and enjoying it so far. Though I will say I would enjoy it far more if Caroline wasn‘t a character 🙄 only 60 pages in and her busy body gossip-mongering nature has already exhausted my patience.
In other news I‘m so far behind in posting reviews 😪 I keep telling myself that I‘m going to get caught up annnd then proceed to pick up another book. 🙈 Eventually I‘ll get caught up.
My 3rd Christie. Hello again, Poirot and team! ?️
Excerpt from the introduction by Laura Thompson: "...at the end of twenty-five chapters it suddenly throws the whole tray of sherry glasses into the air with the bouleversement of its solution."
That's an intriguing statement.
This was a failure of expectations rather than material. When I heard that this was Christie's most ingenious, I took it to mean novelty of form as well as end. However, the ingenuity is all in the ending (and granted, its concealment throughout). Otherwise a conventional Christie puzzle mystery--I just happened not to be in the mood for more of the same (multiple suspects and plots surrounding a wealthy household told by a Hastings-like narrator)
Always love reading Agatha Christie! She‘s so smart & funny & I never saw this one coming ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
HOUR30 PHOTO CHALLENGE- #YourFavouriteSeries I thought about a few series that I love(WheelOfTime, HarryPotter,PhryneFisher) but they all aren‘t on the same level as my Dame Agatha obsession. Both the Poirot series & Miss Marple series have had a place in my heart since I was 9yrs old, being handed my first adult novel(The Mysterious Affair At Styles)by my Auntie Lilla, who kept me in 2ndhand books for years. #24in48 #readathon
This has to be one of the best works by Christie. So well written.
This was my first Agatha Christie book since reading And Then There Were None in high school, and it was so fun!! I‘m excited to read more now. At least there‘s a lot to choose from!
“It is odd, when you have a secret belief of your own which you do not wish to acknowledge, the voicing of it by someone else will rouse you to a fury of denial.”
Rincey and @Liberty say this is a must read for #mystery fans, and who am I to argue?

Extremely awesome. Never expected the killer to be who it was. Lol😂i am not giving spoilers..

Love mystery books? This one is a must read.
And trust me, coming from a huge Christie's fan, recommending this one book of hers means it is really high on my all-time favourites list.
The writing is a bit unusual, and is not 100% the way other Poirot books are, but it's not a bad thing.
You will not guess the murderer, ever. And if you do, you certainly are a Sherlock. (Not a Poirot, he is one of a kind to me.)
Enjoy.

The murder mystery that made Dame Christie famous. And without spoiling anything I totally get that.
One of the first mysteries with private detective Hercule Poirot.
I haven‘t read a Christie crime in 20 yrs but will definitely read more now.
This crime was first published in 1926 before Christie was a famous writer so it was kind of funny to come across this reference
Next up.
I haven‘t read a Christie in years, but I‘ve been watching the TV adaptations with both Miss Marple and Poirot. I‘ve really loved those and we all now that the books are better
You can never, not in a million years, guess who the murderer is. NEVER. And if you did, well then to quote Poirot, you used your "little grey cells". I, on the other hand was screaming "it can't be" till the very last page, even while the murderer was confessing. If you read only one Christie in your entire life, READ THIS.
? ? ? ? ?
This book was pretty good. It was a good audiobook. I love listening to Agatha Christie books on Audio. I am also starting to enjoy listening to Hugh Fraser read them.
I didn‘t see the murderer coming. I usually can‘t figure out who the bad guys are in her books, which makes it great fun!
I came home with all these (26 books!) a couple weeks ago. A friend had a ton of old paperbacks he‘d gotten from his grandmother, he‘d gone through them & taken what he wanted, and he asked if I wanted any from what was left. 😁 When I got home, my husband asked what was in the bag & I changed the subject! But later he commented that I‘d been doing so well with not getting too many books this year...😬 I confessed, and we had a good laugh. 😂🤣
A super clever mystery for its time, voted in 2013 as the best crime novel ever by the British Crime Writers' Association. I wonder, however, if the ending is as surprising today as it was considered back then. I wager that a lot of readers will figure out Christie's ruse pretty early on, everything but the how. I read Christie for plot, not for prose, and as far as plot goes, this was very entertaining.
So, so good. I couldn‘t put it down at all, and read it entirely in one sitting and was guessing until the very end. It reminded me a lot of the game Cluedo!
But I wish Hercule Poirot had never retired from work and come here to grow vegetable marrows. #TheMurderOfRogerAckroyd #AgathaChristie #lastline #closingline #TheQueenOfMystery #HerculePoirot #book #books #funkopop #popvinyl #Cinderella #bookmark #bookmarks #bookmarket #bookmoment #bookmoments #bookmovie #bookquote #bookquotes #bookqueen #bookquirk #quote #quotes #bookworm #bookworms #bookwormlife #bookwarm #bookwarmth #bookwhore #word 💛💛💛💛💛

Ok, this one was amazing!
A book without Hastings is already an amazing Agatha book, but this one is fast paced, has a great narrator, Poirot is magnificent and the ending will leave you speechless!
I chose Mystery for today‘s prompt! I adore Dame Agatha! From what I could find, her top two authors were Elizabeth Bowen and Graham Greene. My favorite Christie novels are the tagged book and And Then There Were None. So clever!

This had the most surprising ending of any book I've read. I didn't see it coming at all. It was excellent!
