I devoured this book! O‘Connor writes a descriptive and cautionary tale of declining island life on a fictitious island off the coast of Britain in 1938. Does a deceased whale washed up on shore bring good or bad tidings? Manod, the MC, narrates a few months of life on the island, when the whale and soon after two British strangers arrive. Beautifully written. #LiteraryCrew

With today‘s last story in the #NoPlaceLikeHolmes discussion group, I read the entire Holmes canon. Thanks to @dabbe and @Cuilin for leading the group.

This final collection of Holmes stories hints at Conan Doyle‘s almost reluctance to write more. Some are good, and some are not up to the caliber of prior stories. Yet, I liked the collection overall. A good way to spend a half hour reading one story at a time. #CatsOfLitsy #Xander #SebastianKitty

I think this is my favorite by Lee—a moving story about friendship, set on the Oregon Trail. It‘s beautifully written, with diverse characters and tackling the issue of prejudice for a YA audience deftly. #SundayBuddyRead #Xander #CatsOfLitsy

The first in a series set on Cape Cod, this one had a lot going on…and not all in a good way. Lots of nonessential info that could not even be described as red herrings. I‘d say more, but it may be considered spoilerish. Let‘s just say it‘s confusing. #Xander #CatsOfLitsy

Laced with suspense, this is based on a true story…the photo at the back of the book shows the aftermath of the event described. Donoghue tells the story from the perspective of multiple characters, before real and fictional characters, including an anarchist with a deadly plot in mind. To say my reading has been erratic and at times nonexistent the last few months is an understatement, and yet I persevere and start more books! 😂

Gaskell‘s writing is amazing, and thanks to #HashtagBrigade I can finally move Wives and Daughters to the “currently reading” stack.

Life has been so difficult lately, even more complicated with the horribleness in the world. But, at least in my tiny little part of my world, things may be getting better. May…every time I think we‘re good, we‘re not.

Thank you to everyone who expressed love and support the last few days for myself and Zeke and Xander.

Xander is back 100%; his not so good blood results are still in the back of my mind.
