To Sir Phillip, With Love
To Sir Phillip, With Love | Julia Quinn
Sir Phillip knew that Eloise Bridgerton was a spinster, and so he'd proposed, figuring that she'd be homely and unassuming, and more than a little desperate for an offer of marriage. Except . . . she wasn't. The beautiful woman on his doorstep was anything but quiet, and when she stopped talking long enough to close her mouth, all he wanted to do was kiss her . . . and more.Did he think she was mad? Eloise Bridgerton couldn't marry a man she had never met! But then she started thinking . . . and wondering . . . and before she knew it, she was in a hired carriage in the middle of the night, on her way to meet the man she hoped might be her perfect match. Except . . . he wasn't. Her perfect husband wouldn't be so moody and ill-mannered, and while Phillip was certainly handsome, he was a large brute of a man, rough and rugged, and totally unlike the London gentlemen vying for her hand. But when he smiled . . . and when he kissed her . . . the rest of the world simply fell away, and she couldn't help but wonder . . . could this imperfect man be perfect for her?

12-15-21: My 126th finished book of 2021! Book 5 in the Bridgerton series. Phillip is in need of a wife and a mother for his twins. After a letter of condolence from Eloise sparks his interest, a year long correspondence is started. When the subject of marriage is brought up, Eloise, a 28 year old spinster, is intrigued. Frothy and fun, these books never disappoint. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 👍🏼📖#️⃣1️⃣2️⃣6️⃣

Out of all the Bridgerton sibling I was most excited about Eloise‘s story. The fact that her pursuit of romance was approached so logically was perfectly Eloise. I was so happy she found a man who was intellectual and warm.

#CuriousCovers Day 30 #Lovers

#4 in the series. Romance isn‘t a big part of my reading but it‘s nice once in awhile to fall into a love story. I am interested in Eloise‘s story. I hope she maintains her independence even as she falls in love.

That‘s a wrap on 30 days of exploring my TBR.

Another delightful love story. This time we‘re following Eloise. She has been corresponding with a man for some time, and when he invites her to visit, she decides to take him up on his offer.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was a good book. I‘ve been really enjoying the Bridgerton series and thankfully I can binge the last three books after this since they finally came in from the library. I liked the children, Phillip, and Eloise. I did get a bit annoyed that Phillip only wanted Eloise to be a mother.

A great vacation read for my first trip in over a year! I was a plane within 48 hours of being fully vaccinated and it was desperately needed after a few brutal months at work. Feeling lucky to have been able to get some sun in Miami, to have gotten both shots, and to have made it through the last year. Eloise‘s story is cute; picturing the characters from the show makes it even more fun. #romantsy

I‘m so glad this book seemed to start at the beginning of the book rather than half way through. I really loved these two as a couple. My only complaint was that because Eloise ran off before Penelope‘s big reveal in the previous book, we didn‘t get to see her reaction to it and when he brothers arrived to see her none of them thought to tell her either! I loved both characters arcs, and they are both better for being together!

Book 5 and they are becoming somewhat blurred. Sir Phillip was not my favourite - I kept hoping it would be revealed he had taken the noble step of marrying his brother‘s fiancé to prevent their unborn child from being a bastard. That may have excused his behaviour. Eloise could have done better - I agree with her assessment he was seeking a housekeeper, a mother to his children and a warm body in his bed, not a wife.

Johanna414 Agreed! He seemed like a weak character, and she minimized herself to be with him... 10mo

Not my favourite of the series; I found it slow to start and it took me a while to warm up to Phillip, but it was still a fun easy read and I enjoyed it.

I‘m a little over halfway through and at first I was annoyed with how Eloise was being portrayed with her spinsterhood and ideas on relationships because it didn‘t fit her character in previous books. That only lasts for the first few chapters then it makes a little more sense.

5/5 for this Bridgerton novel! To say that I love Eloise is an understatement. She is so feisty and wonderful. I loved this book. Her relationship with Phillip and his children was so sweet and beautiful. I love this series. I laughed and cried while reading this one.

The 5th Bridgerton book so far has been my least favorite, but still a good read... just slower and less swoony than I was hoping. Obviously book Eloise isn't quite as fantastic as show Eloise, and Phillip was a handsome idiot when it came to his children and Eloise. I thought this was the longest Bridgerton book so far, but it turned out to be the shortest, it just felt long. Now I wait for book 6 to come in at the library!

God I'm glad I finally got El's book. All four of the Brothers #Bridgerton bursting into Phillip's house was hysterical - I love the family dynamics in this series! Phillip was a little obtuse for my tastes in heroes, but watching him and Eloise learn how to understand each other was beautiful, and Amanda's story in the second epilogue was sweetly hilarious. #romance #historicalromance

wanderinglynn @TheSpineView I had completely forgotten about that. When you originally posted the series read challenge, I had no series on my TBR. This one wasn‘t even on my radar. But I have now read 5 Bridgerton books and I‘m now reading book 2 of the Roksbys. So yes. 😉👍🏻 (edited) 12mo

Another fantastic installment in the Bridgerton series! This one was shorter, and finished the audiobook in less than 48 hours! I really appreciate that Quinn varies the ages of the MCs and their love interests and the circumstances of each romance. Eloise‘s pen pal relationship turned romance/marriage with widower and father Sir Philip totally worked for me. 4 ⭐️

This is my favorite so far in the series. Eloise is a scene stealer as well and her book didn‘t disappoint. Sometimes children in books aren‘t written well but I felt this one was a good balance of realistic children but not so realistic they drove you mad. 🤣 another #bookspinbingo finished

This may be one of my favorite Bridgerton novels so far! Colin's story overlaps with Eloise's, so I just had to go right from one to the other.

I'm a sucker for romances where one of the characters already has children - when it's well done, it just tugs at my heartstrings. And this one brought tears to my eyes. Plus chuckles at some of the scenes when the four Bridgerton brothers are together!

Another in Julia Quinn's Bridgerton's series, this story revolves around Eloise, a spinster at 28 years, and the 5th of 8 siblings. Eloise begins to correspond with Sir Phillip, a widower with two young children and as expected they fall in love (sigh) and live happily ever. Julia Quinn has a knack for writing regency romance that engages the reader, characters are fun and perfectly flawed the story lines are entertaining (even mildly steamy!)

My favorite in this series. I confess to being a total sucker for the Sound of Music inspired bits of this story! Plus the hero was the sort I like. I'll take a beta style 'intellectual loner looking for a break' type over the usual rakes any day. Sweet and steamy. 💗
