I went to Chapters to buy a new book of kakuros and I couldn't resist picking up a couple of novels 😁
“You stare at the stone eater that has burst forth from the chalcedony chrysalis. It stands hunched and perfectly still, watching you sidelong through the heat-waver of the air around the split geode.”
I‘m racing through the Broken Earth Trilogy, and already grieving the end of the series. Thank you,
Amazing sequel to the fifth season. I have yet to be certain about ulterior motives of the characters, but the worldbuilding is fascinating. It's also refreshing to read a fantasy novel that isn't quite white centered as many of them can be. I am super excited to read the final book to see what happens!
This is the second book in The Broken Earth trilogy. It was fantastic. In this book the focus on survival is still the main priority but also the purpose of the obelisks come into play.

Also my first book finished for Round 2 of #BFC #bookfitnesschallenge @wanderinglynn
A little delayed, but forgot to post I finished this recently! Really loving the trilogy as a whole. This book didn‘t have me quite on my toes as much as Book 1 but I still enjoyed it. Eager to start the next book here soon!
Any other fans of the Broken Earth series?? I was trying to wake up my kitty last night & instead we played a game of “Alabaster & Antimony” 😂😂😂😂
Cheers to escaping in the afternoon for a quiet tea and a good book. I read the first part of Jemisin's trilogy in January thanks to #NewYearWhoDis and @MeganAnn and this second book picks up with the same drive the first book ended with. No slowing down to awkwardly recap, just driving forward with the story👍
Solid second in this trilogy. A little draggy, as the middle book of a trilogy can be, but I loved the development of our main character and some really interesting side characters too. It's all starting to interweave together and I can't wait to see how the final book ties all the pieces together. #Booked2019 A Cli-Fi

This is not a bright , flowery series, but it is a good one. I have been meaning to read the sequel to The Fifth Season for a while and #magicalreadathon has given me just the nudge I need.
Is anyone else doing the readathon? Which sequel are you reading?
I love learning new words!
Used my #audible credit this month so I can continue on with the second installment of The Broken Earth trilogy as I do all the things today! I love the narrator (and realize how wrong I‘ve been about some of these pronunciations!)
Isn‘t the cover art gorgeous? 😍
Been toting The Obelisk Gate to and fro work in this pretty book beau (designed by my favorite, ink and wonder), but I haven‘t had very much time or energy to read 😔
Looking forward to spring break and all the sleeping and reading and sleeping... 😴
What a thrill to read masterfully woven fantasy with compelling characters. I sometimes didn‘t understand character motivations, but I also trust Jemisin has her reasons — or I missed something in my fevered first listen. Will reread with my partner as I do with all my favorite stuff. Photo by דקי.
Candy and #bookhaul today! Haven‘t finished The Fifth Season yet, but I didn‘t want to have to wait for these after finishing it. And fyi holiday Reese‘s are the BEST candy, don‘t @ me.
Just finished this on audio. Soo good. I need to process this one before jumping into the final installment of this series. 👍🏾👍🏾
Yay! Finally got the trilogy set... Just starting book 2, and love there‘s a map! It‘s perfect weather for reading (and not so perfect weather for Tucson!)
This is book two in The Broken Earth trilogy. I think it is better than the first. Jemison really out does herself with this one. The narration is spot on. Another 5 stars!
These two😂wish I could stay home with them snuggle up and start a new book. Just finished The Obelisk Gate, another wild ride in the Broken Earth series ,great story telling, and page turning. Looking forward to the last book in the series The Stone Sky! 🤓#dogsoflitsy
I was on the fence about whether to keep going with this series. While I'm interested in finding out what happens, I am still really struggling with the writing style. After the 1st, I wasn't clear on what about it didn't work for me. After finishing book 2, I think I can say it's the frequent fragments of thought that pop up throughout the narrative. They seem incomplete and tend to frustrate me for that reason. I will finish the series anyways.
Love my new book light , it has three level lightness cool and warm 💡📖 and it‘s not heavy.I use it time day and night,I enjoy seeing as good as the back light on my kindle 😬 getting old 👀 I guess 🤷🏼♀️
Important...why you need to get a supporting membership to Hugo Awards to ensure that SFF noms/winners continue to include diverse authors! Costs about $45. I‘m joining this week.
In short, a white supremist group organized votes in attempt to keep authors like Jemisin from being nominated/winning. See article:
Read this in a day! An unusually strong sequel, just as good as the first! We got some continued world building, excellent plot continuation, and some insight into the different types of beings and orogeny and some hints at how it‘s all connected. Wonderful!
