Four bags of signed books picked up at B&N's Black Friday sale today. Mostly prizes for work over the next year but some gifts for family, some gifts for silent auction, and even a few for me. I went in with a list and stuck to it but still I tried to avoid looking at the registers total when it was all said and done.

Updated my “purchased this year” #bujo shelf ... so far I‘ve purchased about 85 books. So much for my buying cut back 🤦🏼‍♀️ ... I have read 94 books this year though so I guess it balances.

AshleyHoss820 @Morr_Books I was in the same boat! This particular book has been sitting on my shelves for a LOOONG time! While computer algorithms can be useful, this is way more pretty! 😂😂🤣🤣 6y

Leniverse Sons and Lovers is the only D.H. Lawrence book I have genuinely liked. Not that I have read all of his work, mind you, but what I have read has ranged from "meh, alright" to "I think I would rather clean the toilet than read another page". But Sons and Lovers I thought was really good. 6y

Leniverse I started Women in Love in January. Managed to get halfway through it. 😑 I still mean to finish it. This year. I'm just not sure how to get through it. Possibly by venting a lot on Litsy! 😆 6y

Looking at my bookshelf is slightly depressing now. I am in the process of buying/moving into a house (and out of my apartment) & the easiest thing to start packing up was my books. I ran out of boxes though.

jfalkens The few times I moved I always found my books hardest to pack 😨 I was always nervous I'd pack it and then want to read it 😱 6y

GlassAsDiamonds Oh that always sucks! Unsolicited advice: go buy yourself a few disparate things you‘ve wanted for ages, wrap them in nice paper and pack them (like a book, a kitchen something, a nice candle etc), then as you‘re unpacking: gifts to yourself for packing and unpacking!!! I found it a great motivation to get the boxes gone and such a morale boost when you‘re at the “so I *really* care enough about this thing to pack/unpack it?” Stage & Good luck!! 6y

Joining the discussion started by @dariazeoli about our shelves on #Goodreads. My shelves are quite boring. Mainly by year and format. Looking at them closely I think I need to get rid of DNF. Maybe I should combine my audible and audiobook shelves as well (I was differentiating audible from library audiobooks.)

Marchpane Do you use the stats section? It gives a breakdown by year which is why I don't bother with shelves for those. 7y

Marchpane My challenge works without it, I think it's fine as long as you set a 'date read' then you don't need a shelf for the year. 7y

Sace @dariazeoli that's what I started to think. I mean, I always put the date I read it. And the stats page organizes by year for me. All I want to know is how many books/pages I read in a year. Stats does that for me. 7y

Clare-Dragonfly It's funny to me to see people wanting to get rid of shelves! I have lots of shelves, some of them quite specific, and I like it that way. 7y

I'll be reading or listening to all but two of these, the kids magic book and sleeping in the ground by Peter Robinson are destined for my Heartland Little Free Libraries right away. I'll be attending an author talk later this month with the author of a 1000 mile walk on the beach! Book love! 😊📚♥️

A little more than 1/2 there. Reading slowed down after Desperation Road. Nothing could compare to this now TOP 5 book for me. Getting back to it now that I have decided the next book will not be as good. But, I hope to find another GREAT book.

Kaylamburson I just picked up Leave Me today, and I've had All is Not Forgotten for a while now, but haven't read it. What did you think of those?

Desperation Road

LisaJo @Kaylamburson All is Not Forgotten was an interesting read. I could not put it down once I started it. It leaves you with some moral questions. It was recommended by a friend. Leave Me is the July choice for the library book club I belong to. Short chapters make it a quick read. I would recommend both books. However, they are no Desperation Road. I'm going to sell that book to everybody I meet. It is that good. 7y

A few purchases - some gifts and some for me, Arc donations from our local Barnes & Noble, a couple wins, and a stop at my local library for the final book in Ellery Adams Oyster Bay series (I'm sad to see this series ends 😢). Many of these will be going into the Heartland Little Free Libraries soon! Fun book week 😁📖📚❤
