Path of Daggers
Path of Daggers | Robert Jordan
For millions of fans around the globe, the wait is over. Sequel to the international blockbuster bestseller "A Crown of Swords," "The Path of Daggers" continues one of history's greatest fictional journeys and the most extraordinary work of American fantasy ever published--"The New York Times," "Wall Street Journal," and worldwide bestselling series--Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time. The phenomenal tale that is mesmerizing a generation of readers now continues in Book Eight. The Seanchan invasion force is in possession of Ebou Dar. Nynaeve, Elayne, and Aviendha head for Caemlyn and Elayne's rightful throne, but on the way they discover an enemy much worse than the Seanchan. In Illian, Rand vows to throw the Seanchan back as he did once before. But signs of madness are appearing among the Asha'man. In Ghealdan, Perrin faces the intrigues of Whitecloaks, Seanchan invaders, the scattered Shaido Aiel, and the Prophet himself. Perrin's beloved wife, Faile, may pay with her life, and Perrin himself may have to destroy his soul to save her.Meanwhile the rebel Aes Sedai under their young Amyrlin, Egwene al'Vere, face an army that intends to keep them away from the White Tower. But Egwene is determined to unseat the usurper Elaida and reunite the Aes Sedai. She does not yet understand the price that others--and she herself--will pay.

Day 3 of the #GratefulReads photo challenge by @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks and @OriginalCyn620

The fantasy genre has a lot of books #Over500Pages, but I‘m okay with that, since I love the intricate world-building found in series like “The Wheel of Time”. Unfortunately, there aren‘t any Funko Pops for the Wheel of Time characters yet, but these Princess Bride Funkos do kind of go with the series... Buttercup would make a glorious Aes Sedai! 👸🏼

Branwen Omg! Do you think we WILL get Wheel of Time funkos once the show is out?!?! 😍 3mo
DaveGreen7777 @Branwen I sure hope so! I really need a braid-tugging Nynaeve Funko! 😂😂😂 3mo

xicanti I now feel a visceral NEED for a Nynaeve Funko POP. 3mo

DaveGreen7777 @xicanti I do too! And a sassy Egwene Funko, too! 😂🤣 3mo
DaveGreen7777 @OriginalCyn620 Thank you! 😌😌😌 3mo
vivastory I think when the show comes out they'll release them. I have a good feeling about the success of it 3mo
DaveGreen7777 @vivastory I‘m usually a little leery of adaptations, but like you I have a good feeling about this one. Amazon did such a great job with Good Omens, hopefully they‘ll knock it out of the park with Wheel of Time, too! 3mo

The eighth entry in the Wheel of Time Series, this one was fairly evenly paced. Even though we didn‘t see Rand until ~300 pages in, I was really engrossed by what was happening with Elayne, Egwene and Perrin. When Rand appeared, it was mainly focused on him going to war. A good entry in the series, and I‘m looking forward to starting Winter‘s Heart, as there was a bit of a surprising cliffhanger at the end.

I got through this one in a hurry. I enjoyed PoD way more than ACoS. I didn‘t even really feel like this one was a slog. I enjoyed the character development and the pacing felt good. Onward to Winter‘s Heart!

Yay, writing reviews of books I actually read recently? Number 8 in my WoT Reread felt like a built up to the rest of the series, with the pace slowly picking up. We see a continuation of Egwene‘s awesomeness, despite all the bickering Nyneave and Elayne finally reach their shared goal, Rand learns the hard way that he doesn‘t know everything and on top of all that we‘re left with quite a few cliffhangers…

The fact that I finished this book is a personal victory! Not that it wasn‘t great, but between the possibility of having Chron‘s disease, (my colonoscopy and endoscopy are next week 😱)working my ass off, and not feeling like myself AT ALL, I‘m really proud of myself for finishing this! The story really picked up and now of course I have to start the next 💁🏼‍♀️

Bk8 of #TheWheelOfTimeXmasReread is done, this is the smallest book of the whole series, only just over 400pges I think. Not one of my favorites, it also is the first book that Cadsuane appears in & she is a hard character to like. I‘m only just over halfway through the series, with each book around 800pges long it‘s definitely time consuming, thank god. #painbegone #readingnotfeeling

So many unbelievable characters, dialogue is laughable, and plot drags and drags as if the publisher told the author to stretch a five book series into 14 books...Oh wait, that is what happened and it shows. I purchased the bulk of this series at one point and feel obligated to read them all, but it's so hard to keep going. Painful! #ReadingDilemma #ConvinceMeOtherwise

Sad to say how glad I am to be finished with this book. I get the feeling the pretense of making the book stand on its own is way past gone. The good: amazing world-building and great character development. The bad: the incessant bickering among characters and dated portrayal of relationships between men and women. I'm giving this a "Pick," but only for readers in for the long haul of the series. Otherwise, it's "So-So." #RobertJordan #Fantasy

I'm in chapter 11 of The Path of Daggers, and I groaned when I realized it focuses on Sevanna. She might well be THE most useless character in this series, and given the obscenely large cast, that's saying something. She might also be the most unoriginal, two-dimensional character, too. She better have some amazing payoff down the road to make up for it. #ThePathOfDaggers #WoT #WheelOfTime #RobertJordan #UselessCharacter

I'm surprised to see how long Jordan stayed with Elayne's POV to start this book. These six chapters easily could qualify for novella length. I'll be curious to see if Jordan returns to this group of characters at all for the remainder of the novel. #WheelOfTime #WoT #RobertJordan #PointOfView #PoV #fantasy #EpicFantasy

ibeeeg I started this series, didn't finish. I can't remember which book I left off with. I have several books of this series on my shelf waiting to be read, but got real with myself this week and have decided to let them go. There is much I liked about this series, but much I didn't (mostly the long winded nature). I'm rather sad about not finishing but not sad enough to continue. 😟 3y
BillBlume @ibeeeg it also isn't aging as well as I'd like. Constant bicker of men vs. women feels very belabored. I think the only way I'll ultimately forgive that is if the ending offers a resolution that addresses the issue. Part of me has always hope that was the point of the series, that men and women need to respect each other. Not optimistic, though. 3y
ibeeeg @BillBlume yes, exactly...the bickering. That got very old very quick, tiring. I have heard great things about the books Sanderson penned. That was my goal, to get to his. Alas, that isn't going to happen. (Although, I haven't given the books away yet) 3y

I am invested in this series 8 books in but man this was the worst so far. It was a struggle, I really hope the next one is better.

ChristieStratos I have heard there's a string of books in this series that get more and more bogged down, and then it gets better by maybe book 11 or 12? I haven't read them all, so I don't know personally. I hope it's not true! 4y
AStoriedSoul I quit this series around book 6 or 7. It was years ago. I got bored. If it gets better around books 11 and 12 I wonder if it's because that's about the time Brandon Sanderson finishes writing the series. Fresh mind--fresh narrative. I don't know. I've been thinking of finishing it though. 4y
