Happy 80th birthday, Pooh! The Bear of Very Little Brain and his friends from the Hundred Acre Wood have delighted generations of readers since Winnie-the-Pooh was first published in 1926. This deluxe anniversary edition of Winnie-the-Pooh is the perfect way to celebrate the enduring popularity of A. A. Milne's classic work. The interior features the unabridged text and Ernest H. Shepard's charming illustrations in full color on cream-colored stock. It is an impressive package for new fans and collectors both. Three cheers for Pooh!

2 ⭐ Sometimes we should NOT revisit childhood classics. This was a case of the wrong book at the wrong time. I thought I knew most everything there was in the Winnie the Pooh stories. I grew up reading them or having them read to me. I grew up watching the many versions on the Disney channel, from the original animated to the puppet interpretation, this was my childhood. I looked forward to revisiting this, and the idea of the Fireside Chat.

LibrarianRyan To be read Winne the Pooh as it was originally intended. Yeah, that was probably a bad idea after Uvalde. You see I forgot that Christopher Robin shot Winne the Pooh. It is in the first 30 minutes. Winnie the Pooh is attached to a balloon trying to get to the honey, but he‘s stuck. Christopher robin shoots him down. Now in the animated version it is a cork gun, but if it was mentioned that way in the audiobook telling, I didn‘t catch it. 3w
LibrarianRyan But once that gun went off, I was taken completely out of the story. I could picture Pooh with a rifle when he feared the heffulumps, but I did not remember this incident. And it ruined the rest of the book for me. When I was a child, shootings were not as prevalent as they are today. Children dying for lack of gun control was not a big thing in the media. And now it is so common and heart wrenching that I just could not get back into the 3w
LibrarianRyan story after this. I made it through two of the three hours of the book, but then gave up. I just kept picturing Christopher Robin with a gun pointed at Pooh. And that is it. I‘m done. It will take a bit to get over this, and to get back to the love of Pooh. It will come in time, but for now this book is just not for me, and could trigger young readers, and adults alike. 3w
mandarchy My mom read this to me when I was little and I read it to my godson and my son, but most people don't realize how mature it really is. Even so, having read it 3 times, I don't remember the guns. Last week I couldn't read at all. When the news becomes overwhelming, I just can't read. 2w
LibrarianRyan @mandarchy I didn't remember the guns either. An I can see reading being hard last week. I wasn't too lucky their either. 2w

I like to read series in publication order, so read this book first before the March #ChildrensClassicRead2022 pick. Upon finishing, I realized it‘s actually the 2nd book in the series!😂No matter, it was very sweet and reminded me of simpler times.❤️ 4/5⭐️

I've been reading this with the kids for the last couple of weeks and we just finished it. I think I got more out of it than they did, because it felt very nostalgic... but they were perfect, calm bedtime stories. Their favorite was the story where Piglet had to be rescued from the flood. #raisingreaders

@DebinHawaii the kids LOVE the bookmarks you got them!!!! They say thank you!
We are starting Winnie the Pooh tonight, so Nina is "pre-reading" it to her teddies. Her version is about a bear named Harvest and he's kind of a troublemaker. Lane is flipping through The Princess in Black, and getting annoyed with his sister for being too loud ?? #raisingreaders

I chose this for the next goodnight-read to my daughter but bailed and finished it by myself. Maybe I expected something completely different but this feels like a children‘s book for adults. I had a really hard time reading/telling the stories out loud.

Finished It yesterday night. What an adorabile story!

I've always loved Pooh and his gang, though l had only watched the TV show up to now. Even as a kid, l loved the nonsense and the gentile plots.
It's a lighthearted world, but there's depth too. The episode where Isaia gets his birthday presents, for example, moisted my eyes.

So happy l finally read It.

#FellowshipOfTolkien this remainder me so much of the Letters from Father Christmas.

wordslinger42 I've never read the book, but I'll have to check it out! 1y

I remember that l really loved Pooh when l was a kid, though l watched it on tv, never read it before. So l'm quite excited to finally read it.

GingerAntics I came to Pooh Bear through the TV, too. My mother bought me a beautiful gift copy of all four books in one volume for Christmas once. It was a prized possession for a long time. I was sad to lose it, even after my new puppy chewed one of the corners while teething. I guess he was trying to see why I loved it so much. lol 1y
JazzFeathers @GingerAntics Oh no 😟 Losing beloved books isn't fun. 1y
GingerAntics @JazzFeathers no, but a brand new copy that will hopefully be nice forever is on its way to my mailbox as we speak. 1y

Yesterday, my dad would have been 59. In honor of his memory I got a tattoo for him. He had a tiger tattoo on his arm, and being a huge Winnie the Pooh fan growing up, I got the OG Tigger. The sunflowers are for my favorite memory that makes me chuckle every time.

I picked this up as a free audiobook somewhere along the line, and I finally listened to it on my evening walks yesterday and today. Between listening to the news and keeping up with teaching virtually this week, I was in the mood for a lighter listen. It wasn‘t anything that wowed me, but it was enjoyable and nostalgic as I remember watching the cartoons as a kid.

1 - Even though I don't remember reading it as a child, Winnie the Pooh is one of my favorite children's books, and the illustrations are a big part of why I like it so much.

2 - Not too shabby. I'm on pace to read a little over 100 books this year, which is a lot for me. Thought I'd be reading more for work, but that hasn't happened.

I've always adored Winnie the Pooh because I grew up with the show, but I never actually read the books. Found this wonderful audio on audible.stories.com which is free right now to entertain and educate kids during this moment without traditional school. I'm thoroughly enjoying this. And actually listening to it on 1 x speed instead of sped up since the performance is part of this experience.

Probably my all-time favorite breakfast quote.💛🐻🍯

“When you wake up in the morning, Pooh,” said Piglet at last, “what‘s the first thing you say to yourself?”

“What‘s for breakfast?” said Pooh. “What do you say, Piglet?” “

I say, “I wonder what‘s going to happen exciting today?” said Piglet.

Pooh nodded thoughtfully. “It‘s the same thing,” he said.
