Enough reading for today. 😉 But I don't want to quit literature for today... Do you like it, if books are turning into movies?
I really like this movie so much. 😍

LiljaPleasant Weeeell... Movies based on books... Some are okay 😅 Loved The Green Mile. Maze Runner and The Hunger Games were great, too... But there are soooo many bad ones out there. 3w

I‘ve read numerous King novels, and with such immense popularity, as soon as he finishes a piece, it‘s put out on the market. I say this because of the innumerable typos in the book. I mean, one of the characters “dies” in two different ways. But besides my pickiness, THIS STORY WAS INCREDIBLE. I‘m awestruck. Every single character had just depth, personality, and a relatability where you can see the people so clearly. STRONGLY RECOMMEND.

Finished this book while sitting on my basement stairwell—what better place to read a Stephen King novel? Haven‘t read King in decades but always meant to read this. The ending wrecked me. I feel like if I had read this in my 20s, I would have shed some tears and moved on. At 45, death seems so much closer. I‘ve always felt his best work showed that the true monsters aren‘t supernatural but are, instead, we humans and what we do to each other.

jb72 I read this last year and absolutely loves it. It just rips your heart out and stomps on it. 5mo

A book that certainly lives up to all the HYPE..I‘m very grateful that I was only less than 1 year old when the first installments were being released. How could I possibly wait monthly to read each piece? Instead of getting to the conclusion in 6 months, I was able to binge read the book and get closure within days. Although I can see the fun in waiting..I don‘t know how anyone could withstand the suspense that is The Green Mile.

BookBumming So beautifully written. The characters are amazing. If you haven‘t read this book yet, DO IT!!! 5mo

Interestingly enough this novel, set in a Depression-era Southern prison‘s death row, was released in several serial installments.
The first installment, titled The Two Dead Girls was released in March of 1996, with one installment a month published through the final installment, Coffey on the Mile, which was released in August of the same year. Every single installment ended up on the New York Times best seller list. #stephenking #thegreenmile

I had to put aside my work and finish this today. I was not really prepared to start crying at my desk, but it was so sad! I got lucky and never happened to have seen the movie version, so nothing was spoiled for me. I‘m definitely interested in seeing the movie now though. This was an absolutely beautiful story, probably my favorite Stephen King novel I‘ve read so far.

InBooksILive The movie makes me cry every time I watch it! I need to read the book still though. I'll make sure to have tissues on hand when I do 7mo

I don‘t handle child abuse or death very well, especially when I‘m not expecting it. So this is very out of my comfort zone. But my aunt dropped this off for me a few weeks ago, telling me I absolutely need to read it, and warning me about what happens.

I knew before deciding to read this that it was going to wreck me, and it definitely did. There are all kinds of things to say and feel about the story but they all seem kind of limp by comparison.

I recommend the book w/o hesitation. The movie did absolute justice to the source material, and as someone who watched it before reading, I can say that that made me cry all the harder.

If you want your heart broken to pieces, read The Green Mile.

Finally going to give this one a whirl! I‘m in the Unpopular-opinion Club in that I have a hard time reading Stephen King books, with the exception of Misery, Dolores Claiborne, and his short story collections. Of course I‘ve heard The Green Mile is amazing, as I hear with any SK book, but they say this one‘s different. With coffee in my hand, Sunday reading, here I come!

tessavi I read this as a teenager and loved it. Hope you'll like it too! 1y
Dolly Although I‘ve only seen the movie not read the book, the storyline is not one I would guess as a Steven King. Hope you enjoy it. 1y
LisaJo I really liked this one. In fact, I have never seen the movie because I enjoyed this book so much, I do not want the movie to ruin the book. I read it when it came out in six individual little paperbacks that you bought once a month. I couldn‘t wait till the next month‘s book. And since Dolores Claiborne is one of my favorite all-time Stephen King books, I know I‘m in the minority there, I think you will like this. 1y

I‘ve always been a huge fan of this movie (a masterpiece imo), and eagerly started the audiobook a few months ago. Life got in the way (big move, new baby, no sleep, etc) and I just got back to it this week. Been listening while laying in bed at night which has made for some interesting dreams! SK is such a master with words and this left me reeling last night before I drifted off to sleep. Such a powerful, moving story. 5+⭐️

"God lets it happen, and when we say "I don't understand," God replies "I don't care."

The second book by King that explores the nature of faith and how God regards His creations. The first was Desperation, the only novel of King's to give me nightmares. My Grandfather, Catholic all his life, told me when I was young that I could pray with all the pain and fear and love in my heart and soul but most often God's answer is "indifferently no".

I wasn‘t sure what to do for #BohemianRhapsody
Should I find a character that enjoys the song/the band? a character involved in gang warfare or murder? Someone convicted of a crime that feels remorseful?

John Coffey had been found guilty of committing the murder of two girls, but the guards find him to be naive, empathic, and afraid. Could he really have committed such a crime?
