1) I hated my name growing up. My dad tells me he picked Debra from the actress Debra Paget. I think he said that in an attempt to get me to like it.
2) The tagged book is on my TBR and has Deborah as the MC.

pickWhat a story! Historical fiction at its best. I loved the characters. Deborah Samson deserves to be known and understood. As a woman during the Revolutionary War who wanted to serve. Of course, during those days, women had their place-in the home. I love the the way the author wove the truths in this fictional novel.
pickAmy Harmon does well-researched romantic historical fiction like no other. I don‘t know why her books go so under the radar. I‘ve enjoyed every book of hers I‘ve read, and this one might be favorite romance.
Samson is the true story of a former indentured servant who is driven by a patriotic duty to conceal her female identity and join the Continental Army. It‘s basically the plot of Mulan (in a good way!) transposed to the Revolutionary War.
pickWhat a story!! And to think that Deborah Samson was a real person who did many of the same things that were described in this novel. I love and admire her strength and courage. She helped to pave the way for women‘s equality. This story will stay with me forever. Parts made me laugh, made me cry, (more importantly) amazed me. I am grateful to this author for telling Deborah‘s story.

pickI adore Amy Harmon‘s work. Her historic fictions are each so special. This book is definitely in my top recommends now. I throughly enjoyed Deborah/Samson/Rob‘s journey! Also, I‘m such a sucker for Harmon‘s romantic story telling.

Loving Deborah‘s voice so far in this novel. She is clear, and whole, and engaging. I am looking forward to her continued development!

Anyone reading this one yet? Amy Harmon is my automatic buy author, so I was super excited that this was released this month. It has all my favorite preteen trope vibes of a badass girl pretending to be a boy and falling in love- ala Bloody Jack or Alanna the Lioness.
