The Shack | WM. Paul Young
Pickpick

I finished the audiobook, and it left hungry for more of the same! I am currently watching the old TV series “Highway to Heaven” as it has that same peacefulness that is so prevalent in “The Shack”. I recommend this Book to anyone and everyone!!

This book has a powerful message about not judging others and just being kind. I loved that and I really enjoyed Denver's side of this story. Unfortunately for me, I wasn't a big fan of Ron's side which is what made this not a pick.

#TIL This book taught me that homeless people don't reveal their names to others unless they really trust the person because someone could use it against them to get them in trouble.

Nickolas Butler is such a special author. I am a 100%, true blue city girl (like even the suburbs make me twitchy after a while) but he writes so beautifully about the Midwest that I find myself completely captivated by the story AND the setting. He is a master at writing truly lovely depictions of regular folks leading regular lives - novels for grownups, if you will. Loved it. 4⭐️.

Tamra I‘ve never read anything by Butler, stacked! 4d
LeahBergen The burbs make me twitchy, too 😆 4d
TrishB Stacked 👍🏻 quite cheap on kindle! 4d

MicheleinPhilly @TrishB 👍🏼 Good deal. 4d
Crazeedi Not heard of him, but he sounds good! I'm checking this out! Thanks!! Btw, city's make me twitchy, lol. I guess its city mouse, country mouse!😉❤ 4d

JenReadsAlot I've met him a couple of times (Wisconsin girl here) and he is so great! 4d
saresmoore I sold out and moved to the ‘burbs and while I can‘t pinpoint them as the source of my perpetual twitching, I will say they‘re great fodder for dystopian story ideas. 😆 I miss the anonymity of the city, but some days, I long for the solitude of rural living. All that rambling to say, Suburbia is Limbo and I want to read this book! 4d
MicheleinPhilly @saresmoore The ironic thing is that we‘re total homebodies. We really SHOULD live in the middle of nowhere for as much introverting as we do. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 4d
cathysaid Sounds a bit like Kent Haruf...who I love. 4d
cathipink I'll be looking for his books - thanks for this review! 4d
MicheleinPhilly @cathysaid Kent Haruf is an author I‘ve always meant to read but haven‘t yet. Will rectify that. 4d
Reviewsbylola Oooh I‘ll have to try him! I love good stories about regular people. 3d

In a maybe-not-so-distant #future we might end up in a situation like Peter - he is going as a missionary to a new planet to preach the word of the bible. At Earth he leaves his wife Bea, and slowly, and from a universe away, Peter learns how life on Earth has been changing in drastic ways. Will there even be a home for him to return to?

Also, this cover is so shiny, I can‘t even 😍

Any book by Mother Teresa can make you smile and weep at the same time. This collection of essays/reflections helps you put the petty, day-to-day challenges we all face into a framework that let‘s you recognize how to live for the greater good of others. Eloquent, touching, and life changing. #NFNov. #TIL

I‘ve been holding out on starting this book since it is Rachel‘s last. Her books and speaking have been so, so important to me over the past several years. I was raised in a strict Pentecostal household and church. She was raised similarly. So I feel not-so-alone when I read RHE‘s stuff.

I‘m reading along and discussing with a real-life friend. Buddy reads are such a treat!!
