Once the book got underway after a rather offputting prologue, I found it unexpectedly interesting describing the different milieux of the different branches of the family. Although I had expected before I started that the book was going to be focussed on the travails of the family under the Nazis, there wasn't all that much in the book, which was just as well because I found even the 40 pages or so that there was difficult reading.

Listening to the audiobook and just wanted to say David Pittu is a wonderful reader/performer.

When i picked this boom up today i was mot expecting to read it all during my breaks at work. I love the creativity and simplicity of this book. So much to impact in the short pages. I borrowed this one from the Library but I am going to buy it. It will make a good reminder in those times when i cant figure out where my creative comes from.

It has to be a good book when the subject of the story praises it and it really is. It is more character driven than plot driven, it‘s right up my alley. It follows different fictional spectators‘ lives of Marina Abramović‘s performance art piece at the MOMA back in 2010. It covers the power of art on humans, love, regret, friendship, relationships, and also bringing in aspects of Abramović‘s personal life mixed in. I really enjoyed it.

(There are spoken quotes from his letters so I'm counting this as book-related.)
Oof! 😩 Even though the more dramatic incidents (you know what I'm talking about!) mostly happen off-screen, this is a film where I wanted to sit quietly in the dark afterwards until the credits had finished rolling. Willem Dafoe is brilliant as Vincent.
(I want to make him a big bowl of my special turmeric chai porridge: it's so freakin' YELLOW!) 🌻
