Great thriller, really enjoying Peter Swansons work. I‘ve read/listened to a few now and it‘s always an adventurous exciting read. Parts were predictable, but I did not see the ‘escape‘ coming.

Late to the party, as always... 😅 #JoysofJune #Readathon @andrew65
It's likely I won't have that much time for reading the next week, but we shall see... My goal is to finish the tagged book, i. e. my current read. It's fab so far, but as I said: not much reading time atm. ... 📚
This was a fun thriller, I‘ve really enjoyed the Peter Swanson books I‘ve read so far. This was a mix of locked room (island) thriller and the impact toxic masculinity can have on a marriage. Scary fun that I couldn‘t put down.
I really didn‘t like any of the characters in this book, which made getting through the first half incredibly difficult. But things took a VERY interesting turn, and I was there for it. A little forgettable but very entertaining. #hoopla

This book was so fun and I loved it! I seen a lot of reviews that said, "It was so much fun.. but I guessed the twist.. or it won't be memorable.." And yes I guessed the twist, it was super obvious. But also I thought the author was really good at planting seeds of doubt in your mind. Yes it was super obvious. But it was FUN. I had a great time reading it, and isn't that the point of reading a book? 5/5 stars!
While at B&N a couple of weeks ago I noticed a new Peter Swanson book. I was reminded that I still needed to read his previous one, Every Vow You Break. Aspiring writer Abigail is busy with wedding preparations when she notices someone in a cafe that she had a one night fling with during her bachelorette party across the country the previous week. He reappears at her honeymoon on an island off the coast of Maine where she is cut off from the👇

This one surprised me! I knew that island was suspicious, but I never imagined this!
I will say that this resort sounds really nice. But it's a no from me.

I listened to this on audio and I absolutely loved it! Abigail has a one night stand before she marries and immediately regrets it Bruce is rich and treats her so good! On their honeymoon she sees him there did he follow her there why is he even here! But then she notices why isn‘t there a lot of people here and why are there so much men! Her Honeymoon is about to turn into a nightmare! 🌟🌟🌟🌟
I wasn't blown away by this book. But it wasn't horrible either.. just okay. I think my main problem with it is that the plot was great but the pacing was all wrong. Like others have said before me, good idea, poor execution. I'll round up to 3 stars.
Started it over this morning, I listened to it on audio once before and just didn't finish at that time. I happy that I revisited it because so far so good!
I‘m a bit surprised at the low-ish rating on Goodreads/Litsy. Yes, the plot was a bit ridiculous, but wow this was a page turner! I flew through this one! Despite her indiscretion you can really root for Abigail as she goes on her honeymoon on this remote island. I could tell things were off with Bruce from the beginning & was eager to see how it all panned out. The end was kind of sudden. I wanted more! I‘ll be reading more Peter Swanson!
A bride's bachelorette fling shows up at the island where she & her husband are honeymooning. An intriguing premise, a mysterious setting, a plot thickening into a Hitchcockian vibe - yet I almost put this one down several times. The text was repetitive, like he was trying to meet a minimum word count & read like a grocery list, detailing things that did nothing to move the plot forward. Parts were very creepy, but I was a bit disappointed. 3.5
⭐⭐⭐
I can kind of see where the author was trying to go...I just can't say the story effectively got there. A bit of a thriller, with a unique idea - lacking a little in execution.
I read this months ago and I can't tell you a single character name. What I can tell you is I hated this book. A man brings his new bride to a secluded island where only other men are staying. They decide it's a good idea to chase and hunt her on the island like twisted horror story adulterer hunger games. The attitudes of the male characters in this book were so bad I finished it just so I could say how much I hated it. I don't recommend it.
Another great read from Peter Swanson 👍🏻.... He is consistently good & easy to read. . I hope he keeps writing.
So this started off really good and then WTF? My first book by this author I didn't really enjoy. #doublespin for October @TheAromaofBooks #teamslaughter @Clwojick
136 of 2021. The idea of this story was interesting, but it ended up only being okay for me. It was a quick enough read, but didn‘t have the thrills or keep you in suspense that would have made it a better story. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I usually love Peter Swanson's over-the-top psych thrillers but this one didn't quite work for me. I liked the concept in general but the suspense didn't build for me in the way his books usually do, and I found the twists less shocking. Not bad, though! A quick palate cleanser. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book got a lot of poor reviews, but I honestly loved it. I couldn‘t put it down and read it in one evening. The plot was absurd yet disturbing. The plot twists actually got me. When they were all about to get on the plane and just started laughing… so creepy. I‘ve only read one other book by Peter Swanson, so maybe that‘s why 🤷🏼♀️
Is this a “good” book? Mmm, no I wouldn‘t say it‘s particularly well written, doesn‘t have great characters, and the plot is ludicrous. But…but…I had fun reading it and pretty much devoured it in one fell swoop. Plus, it was odd and unexpected, which I like. Points for originality and readability. I was entertained, even if I did keep thinking I‘m not sure WHY I‘m entertained 😂 It‘s a story about infidelity/revenge/survivorship. #beachreading
Abagail is getting married but she had a one night fling on her bachelorette night and now that guy is tracking her down. So far, it‘s pretty good!
While it was compulsively readable, the premise was so far fetched and actions of the MC so ridiculous, I was pretty disappointed. Peter Swanson has always been an auto-read for me but these last two have left me frustrated. Here's hoping his next reignites the spark for me!
I actually hit my page goal for #AnyWayYouReadathon!! I haven't done that in a while so I was pretty stoked. The readathon really did inspire me to read a few times that I was thinking about doing something else, so I appreciate the boost!! The tagged book is what sent me over the top - it may have been a train wreck, but it was one I couldn't put down 😂 Total: 1246/1200pgs!!

I've said it before & I will say it again, Litsy needs a “WTF“ option for books that are batshit crazy but compulsively readable. I blew through this entire book in one evening because I did not want to put it down - despite the fact that no one was particularly likable, the plot was completely unbelievable, every twist just made the story more absurd, & the more I think about it the more questions I have... But I couldn't stop reading!! ⬇️
I like Swanson‘s book but this one was actually over the top creepy and not terribly believable. I read it quickly and am glad I finished but not a favorite of mine. I like revenge plots but this was not exactly that.
25/100, 4☆, Very good thriller! This kept me guessing what would happen next, like any good thriller. I guess correctly for some of the twists but not all, so it was really engrossing. The dramatic atmosphere was satisfyingly creepy as well. Definitely recommend.
This book starts out as a not bad, not great story about a woman who cheats during her bachelorette weekend and is haunted and rattled by it. Then it revolves into absurdity. I‘ve read this author before and liked those books, but this one is a major misfire. He just wasn‘t able to make this storyline believable. Skip this one.
Ok, so I enjoyed the last third of this book. That's when the book felt like a thriller to me and where I didn't know what was going to happen and where I kinda felt on the edge of my seat. However, the first 2/3 of this book felt a bit boring, even annoying. It kept me slightly interested in wanting to find out what happens, so I didn't DNF it, but it didn't have much action or thriller vibes. So a definite so-so for me.
#bathandbook combined with #bookreport, because why not.
Obviously I‘m bathing with a current read. The other books (+literary mag) in my rotation are on the bottom. Books finished this week are on the top.
Only 13 more school days until summer!
I could tell going into this audiobook that it was not for me. I listened anyway and thought it blew. It felt outdated even though it‘s a new book. Carissa Vackers narration made it better but still 🙄
This book is the worst I have read in a while. The characters were unlikable and the story was ridiculous. Maybe at another time I would find it redeeming. It started promising enough but half way through...I started rushing to get to the the end, hoping it might improve. I normally enjoy this author, so I was surprised at how much I literally hated this book. I checked ratings here mid way and realized, a consensus! I‘ll look here first! 😂
Decent thriller but a little predictable. The author‘s take on the subject felt less than authentic. It kept me listening but definitely not my favorite of his.
A wild ride of a book 3.75/5
This is the #LiterallyDeadBookClub pick for April
A last ditch effort to sow her wild oats causes a bride to be to have a one night stand with a stranger. Little does she know her lover would be her stalker in the fun, psychological thriller.
This was a quick thriller. I felt like there were a lot of plot holes or undeveloped plot lines that could have used some improvement. While the story was enjoyable, it also wasn‘t believable. The setting was great and the plot had the beginnings of a really interesting storyline.
Ooof, this was pretty predictable… I don‘t know how many more red flags Abigail needed, but I just wanted to shake her! There was also so much filler about her parent‘s theatre and her past that didn‘t end up contributing to the story at all. I have a lot of other thoughts about the book, but they would all be spoilers. Only 2⭐️ from me!
He address a lot triggers in this one, and it‘s a little out of reality at times, but I enjoyed his writing per usual. Read the whole thing in a day. 😏
Starting this one! I don‘t know why I‘ve put it off for so long 🤦🏻♀️.
I want to start off by saying that I did enjoy this read. I thought the tone kept the suspense and gave a gothic feeling to the setting. The description of the island is bitter-sweet, it is beautiful and disturbing and made me constantly battle with myself whether or not I would have loved the location. I also thought that the protagonist was quite intelligent and wasn't all that naive considering the circumstances. But the plot was predictable.
Between a Pick and a So-So
Overall Rating 3½⭐ | Narration 😁 = Very Good
There are quite a few people that didn‘t care for this and it does feel like a departure from his other works, so I can see why they didn‘t. How did I feel...well, I didn‘t love it. It did feel a little “out there” and slightly preposterous. But, I didn‘t hate it, either. It held my interest despite these issues...it was even kind of fun, in an odd kind of kill-y way.
I‘ve enjoyed all of Peter Swanson‘s books that I‘ve read so far and this was no exception. The reviews are mostly mixed, but I would recommend this when you‘re in the mood to not think too much and just escape for a few hours. It‘s a quick read that can be read in a day. The first half is a little slow but the chapters are short so it still seems to fly by. The action really picks up in the 2nd half and I had a hard time putting it down. Some ⬇️
Abigail has a drunken one night stand at her bachelorette party. But she put that indiscretion behind her. Then the man appears on her honeymoon saying their affair meant much much more to him. I‘m expecting a lot from this thriller because it is Peter Swanson, the author of The kind Worth Killing. Anyone read this yet?
I loved every minute of this audiobook. Abigail thinks she is going to have a dream honeymoon. But it turns into a deadly nightmare when her one night stand from her bachelorette weekend shows up. This book reminded me why I love thrillers so much and need to start reading them more again. The author kept me on my toes and had so many twists that I didn‘t see coming at all!

I meant to post my latest book I've added to my signed book collection. Swanson is definitely a favorite, so I'm thrilled to have it.
A brides dream honeymoon becomes a nightmare when a man she had a one night stand with shows up.
This was a slow start for me but once the story got rolling I couldn‘t put it down. There is some stuff in here that some might say isn‘t plausible but I really enjoyed this book and couldn‘t put it down. There were some details in the book that the character would forget that left me wondering what the point was.
