I love reading before I go to bed since it's helps me wind down, but the struggle to actually put the book down and sleep... Well that's a battle I fight EVERY night when reading a good book. The Namesake is much better than I anticipated...darn you night time reading! Better than watching TV but I still stay up late! #cantstopreading #canstopwontstop #juneread #nighttimereading 💤

This was such a fascinating book! Michael Pollan dissects the relationship between plants and people and frames it in a way that plants are using us instead of us using them. He focuses on four plants and how we view them: Apples for sweetness, Marajuana for intoxication, Potatoes for control and Tulips for beauty. I really enjoyed learning about the history of each of these plants and how they shaped our society. #recommend #bookonplants

From my last post, thank you so much for all your kind words, support, comfort and hugs - Littens are amazing!

It has been a few months since I've been on Litsy and I wish my reason for being away for so long was a good one. I announced my new life journey through the wonderful book I was reading, Expecting Better, but now my story instead ends with What Was Lost, a journey through miscarriage. I am on the mend both physically and emotionally and am looking forward to seeing what summer reads everyone is getting into. ❤️

Oh Carrie Fisher how I adore you! This was a fun listen and had some great parts when going over her affair with Harrison Ford 😲🤫 I enjoyed this book but it broke my heart when she talked about how she felt about episodes 8 and 9 of Star Wars. RIP Carrie, you are missed.

Tiffany Haddish had one heck of a life. While she's able to bring a lot of humor to her stories, there is also a realness and seriousness to them. She has gone through so much from having an abusive mom, going through the foster system, marrying an abusive husband... Through all that she has kept a positive attitude and become incredibly successful. She is an inspiring woman! #girlpower #humor #funny #serious #rolemodel #love #audiobook

By far this has been one of the most moving books I have ever read. I feel embarrassed at my lack of knowledge of the terror the Khmer Rouge reign caused and this book did not hold back any details of the horrors during that time period. While it may seem it was a long time ago, the scars on the people in Cambodia will last several generations to come. I couldn't recommend this book more highly, but I definitely suggest keeping tissues close.

OH MY GOODNESS YESSSSS! This audio book read by Retta was absolutely amazing! If you've ever watched Parks and Recreation, she brings every bit of her personality to this book and it is hilarious. I wanted to love this book so much, but it didn't meet up to my expectations. I give it a "so-so" rating because the 1st half was excellent and made me go through so many emotions but the second half, *le sigh*, it fell flat. There was so much build up in the 1st half but that momentum was unfortunately lost as the story continued. I recommend to read only because the first part was so good and unique and who knows, maybe you can look past rest.

This book was wonderful company during my nice long car ride. I am sad to say I didn't really know much about Carrie Fisher other than she was in Star Wars so it was great hearing about her life. WOW, had no idea how funny she was or how complicated her life was with her addictions. The last line of her book was one of the best endings I encountered in a while so I recommend if even only for that! #funny #carridecompany #dontdodrugs

Oh Tom Hanks, you are such a great actor and director and I adore you, but I just can't finish your book! I'd be willing to give it a shot by reading but audio book is not the way to go. There is absolutely no indication of when going from one chapter to the next and it's hard to follow. Love how you sneak a typewriter into each story but that's it. Also, you trying to sound like a sexy woman is off-putting and kinda creepy. #Itried #dnf #bail

I only mark this as a “so-so” because it‘s not the most exciting even when comparing to other audio autobiographies. There were some things she said I was very ‘umm, what!?!‘ about, but overall a sweet lady. My favorite thing I learned about her is that she has a room dedicated to stuffed animals she collects. I‘ll try and get over the fact that Chris Pratt didn‘t even read the foreword HE wrote, but it did make me raise my eyebrows when she gushed over what a good relationship they have post divorce. Mhmm 🤔🙄 Anyways, I struggled with this. She spent the first 10 mins talking about how horrible she is at writing and how she doesn‘t know why anyone would let her write a book or read it. Not the most promising beginning that led to a overall “meh” book.
