This is a sad story about family dynamics in an awful situation. The subject matter was dealt with quite sympathetically and brings it home just how devastating dementia can be. The story itself I wasn‘t so keen on. It was a little implausible in places and the blackmail thread running through it could have been omitted in my opinion . A thought provoking read nevertheless. #Pigeonhole

An early proof copy read via the #Pigeonhole app. Bearing that in mind, my thoughts are that there is a good story at the heart of it. However, it needs rejigging and going over with a fine-tooth comb. At the moment it starts off well, then begins to meander towards the middle, losing the plot somewhat and then ending on a cliffhanger. It also has quite a few grey areas, is quite repetitive and seems padded out.

pickI enjoyed this Audible Original, The Boys: Deeper & Deeper read by 3 of the actors! I only saw the 1st season but this fits in with my knowledge base.
It‘s a podcast interview with the Deep, his wife by his side, it delves into his backstory from a childhood rife with bullying due to his gills to his time with the Seven to his escape from a cult, marriage to current day life & hawking his memoir.

pickI read this with my reading group. Our theme this time was the African continent. This story fitted the bill very well. It‘s well written and easy to read with some fantastic and vivid descriptions of South Africa. I enjoyed travelling with Stephen and Angela on their journey and don‘t blame them for wanting to settle there, even with all the apartheid trouble which was going on in the 1980s which is when this book was set. An excellent read.
I‘m reading Beneath a Copper Sky by Valerie Poore with my local reading group as the first of our ‘continents‘ reads.
“Apartheid still rules in South Africa when Angela and Stephen take on a job as caretakers of a remote farm in the Midlands of Natal. Things don't go quite as planned from the moment they arrive, and the young couple find themselves coping with a situation they hadn't bargained for.”
pickThe Widow‘s Weeds by Allie Cresswell deals with some serious themes, but amongst the weeds and the showers there are quite a lot of flowers and sunshine. It‘s well written with some endearing characters plus the odd villain. I have been totally immersed in their lives for the past week. A moving tale of friendship and courage which had me turning the pages to the very end.

This was a fantastic addition to this trilogy.
Cast - Doctors 6 & 10 were hilarious together, they had some inspired bickering. They were very believable together.
Story - Weeping Angels are back & after low hanging fruit … they are just despicable … the indigenous life has a secret the Doctors unveil which sets them on the path to save the day.

Cast: 5&10 (perfection, great short stories) plus a female time agent. Great dialog.
Story: The Doctors meet up throughout time in the catacombs beneath Paris & with the help of the time cop (lol) foil the Cybermen‘s plot to destroy the Earth and convert all living inhabitants …
These two doctors are also great together. One to go.

This horror novella is a very tense, fast-paced and atmospheric read.
It's ideal as a quick bedtime read and it's essential winter reading if you're into reading books with snow in them during the winter.
It was an entertaining little read but I feel like the author should have taken his time and given us more substance.
I received an advance copy, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

A few things i have done recently. I got excited when i seen the chicken coop so had to have it.
Yesterday's sunset out in the bush, unedited. I work semi-adjacent to my husband's job (mostly paperwork and reports) and sometimes will go with him on a service call to a logging truck in the bush. Yesterday we were on such a trip and the sunset was so vivid. I shot this out the truck window at a three-way intersection.
Goodreads has been getting on my nerves lately so I just finished setting up my #storygraph account. I'm sydneyerin on there if anyone wants to connect. It seems pretty nice so far!
