I really enjoyed Kemper on The Office, and Kimmy Schmidt (though I binged through to the second season and got sick of it too quickly to plug through). She definitely seems exactly how I imagined she would be (awesome), but the book was sort of a "meh" for me.

I can‘t relate to her exuberant quirkiness, but she‘s funny.

Eh. That‘s about it.

Entertaining, funny, lighthearted. Ellie is an actress from The Office, she played the secretary role. Her story about the entertainment industry was fascinating. She goes between her young, family days, to her personal life, and her acting history. Her voice doesn't sound like a Hollywood actress, but more one down to earth funny. She befriended squirrels aka title. #LOL 4 💫💫💫💫

I loved this but wasnt amazed by the content. Her big shiny personality def came thru and I love listening to her voice but I just didnt find any of her stories spectacular. Sad face bc I think she is hilarious.

This was a fun one but a strange one to post during Holy Week when I finished it. 😏

It took me a little while to completely embrace Ellie Kemper's memoir My Squirrel Days, but it slowly grew on me. I began this audiobook (on @scribd) read by the author thinking, "This is fine. It's not as funny as I like, but it's short, and I have time. I'll keep going, I guess." By the end of the book, I was listening via airpods (working away on our INSANELY hard Game of Thrones jigsaw puzzle) and laughing aloud, ⬇️

Listened to this on my audio walks and thought it was entertaining. I have a feeling it wouldn't have come across as funny in print, though.

Cute, but not much more.

If you've ever watched any show she's in... The Office or The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.... She's just as weird as her characters. 100% a little odd, but so very loveable! Enjoyed learning more about her. ❤️ #oddball #funny #audiobook

It's hard to classify - not really enough grit or substance for a memoir, but maybe could be viewed as more of a collection of humor essays. The chapters jump around; I liked getting a look at different areas of her life, but it felt way too scrambled to keep jumping back and forth to different times. Of course, Kemper is very funny but I don't think her self-deprecation and bubbling energy really come through successfully. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ #Netgalley

Any fan of The Office or Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt will enjoy this entertaining memoir. I learned lots of new details about Ellie Kemper such as that she went to Princeton (impressive!) and that she does not always wash her hands after using the bathroom (why would you tell me that?! Ew!) A fun, quirky read.

I like Ellie Kemper, but after starting this today it just came across as one of the ditzy characters she plays telling a story that has no point. Nothing personal against her, but these days I still have so many books on my TBR that if something doesn‘t grab me right away, I‘m out.

Ok, I think Ellie Kemper is quirky and cute, definitely my style! I love her on The Office and have watched some Kimmy episodes. Also, I enjoy celebrity memoirs, especially when the author reads the #audiobook. So, this should have worked for me, right? it didnt. 😔 still love Ellie but I wished I would have skipped her book! #ineverpanbooks

I actually finished this yesterday but forgot to post. This isn‘t some deep insight into her life but that didn‘t mean I couldn‘t enjoy. Funny quick stories from her life that had me chuckling. Also you can see herself shine through her characters after reading this. I could see myself being friends with her; we share the same sense of humor and love of many things! 😁

Meh. My kid says I need to watch The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and then I‘d like this book better. I did laugh out loud once.

The thing about all these comedians writing memoirs is they haven‘t finished their Careers yet. In this case there were some good stories. But overall it felt too early. Kemper has done some great work but she is young and this felt a little premature.

The Office is one of my favorite shows. So when I saw that Ellie Kemper came out with a book, I had to read it! @Asommers got me a signed edition for Christmas! 🥳

I found this an amusing way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Laughed out loud more than I expected to and related to Ellie's discussions of snacks 😂 Fans of her work may get even more out of it than I did!

"In addition to getting angry when I am hungry, I also do not find it easy to adapt to changes in plans."
This plus the schedule Ellie made for herself (pictured) when she was seven further convinces me that we would get along well ?

"I live in a near-constant state of fear that I have accidentally offended the person with whom I am communicating. Why did she only use a period when advising me to have a good day?"

And yessss somebody else who types out laughter rather than using LOL ?

"I have learned that an Author must write what She knows. And I, for one, happen to know a lot about snacks."

Ellie Kemper and I would get along very well! I am motivated primarily by snacks ?

Starting this impulse borrow -- squirrels have been a running joke at work for the past few months, so when I saw this in the library catalogue I had to borrow it! I don't have a plush squirrel to read with, so my plush rabbit will have to do.

Great audiobook. A little boring at times but never for too long. Love her.

This wasn't really a great memoir- her story isn't great or moving. But I listened to it on #audiobook, and Ellie Kemper did the reading for it. So it was basically her talking. Not my favorite, but it passed the time while I drove and made me chuckle. Listened on #Scribd

My #25in5 progress so far. I have finished 2 books: Princess and Leave No Trace. The other 2 are my current main audiobooks. And none of these cost me anything! Woohoo! The studios and Princess are from #scribd and the other was borrowed from the #BN I work at. Score 1 for free, good books!

This delivered exactly what I was craving - lots of chuckle-inducing light and goofy anecdotes alongside some interesting details about Ellie Kemper‘s life. If you‘re a fan of her acting/characters, the audiobook is an on-brand delight.

Ok- so this is like listening to Kimmy Schmidt follow each thought in her head. Not really a memoir per se but it (I think) is scenes from Ellie Kemper‘s life. It is light and enjoyable but, after listening to several memoirs by comedians, not as well done. Still I say it is worth a listen- cannot imagine reading it - you need Ellie to read it to you. This one is on Libby. #NonFictionNovember

She's funny, but I didn't really care about much of the stuff she was talking about, so I ended up doing a lot of skimming. I like the way she set up the chapters though.

I love Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and The Office, so I had to pick it up. I read this as an audiobook and she reads it herself, which I think really brings out her humor and personality. While I found some parts really funny, there was nothing too interesting or fascinating as I have found in other memoirs.

I got this as a #netgalley ARC and really enjoyed it. I wasn‘t sure if I would.. After not loving either Tina Fey or Amy Poehler‘s Books (actually bailed on Amy‘s). But Ellie Kemper was genuine and didn‘t come off as trying too hard. I loved her bits on motherhood and also her embarrassing experiences career wise and other. Quick, fun reading.

Let me preface this by saying I did enjoy parts of the book. Ellie is charming and you can't help but associate her with that infectious smile, but I feel like her life is not overly interesting. The "Hysteric" essay was the worst in the collection (total and unnecessary filler). My recommendation: listen to the audiobook rather than reading it because you would get to experience Kemper's fabulous personality and humour that was lost on the page.

A crummy day is no match for Ellie Kemper's memoir! (I so needed this right now.)
