The riveting new novel from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Liar. She stood in the deep, dark woods, breath shallow and cold prickling over her skin despite the hot, heavy air. She took a step back, then two, as the urge to run fell over her. Naomi Bowes lost her innocence the night she followed her father into the woods. In freeing the girl trapped in the root cellar, Naomi revealed the horrible extent of her fathers crimes and made him infamous. No matter how close she gets to happiness, she cant outrun the sins of Thomas David Bowes. Now a successful photographer living under the name Naomi Carson, she has found a place that calls to her, a rambling old house in need of repair, thousands of miles away from everything shes ever known. Naomi wants to embrace the solitude, but the kindly residents of Sunrise Cove keep forcing her to open upespecially the determined Xander Keaton. Naomi can feel her defenses failing, and knows that the connection her new life offers is something shes always secretly craved. But the sins of her father can become an obsession, and, as shes learned time and again, her past is never more than a nightmare away. From the Hardcover edition.

Bailedbailed

A young girl discovers her father is a serial killer and she turns him in - love it!

Then the young girl is an adult, moves to a new town, buys/rehabs a house - and there is a “romantic“ interest - she tells him no she doesn't want to get involved, he forces a kiss on her (more than once) and tells her in time she will want him, mixed signals, no means maybe - I bailed 👎

Reading reset for July👍

Make a great day everyone - 🌞

I‘m gonna call my results of #BigJuneReadathon
I set a goal of 8 physical copies, and here they are! Cleared out some recent releases I was hyped on before they got too aged, a couple that had been on the shelf over a year, some authors I hadn‘t read before, I really liked a lot of these, must be why I bought them 😅

Thanks for hosting @Clwojick !
I already refilled my shelf 🤣

I got this at a book sale last year, it‘s been eaten by a dog. Which fits because a dog is part of the found family goodness.

The book starts with 12 year old Naomi finding out her dad is a serial killer, now 29 &living her dreams she settles down &lives a Hallmark movie life, until an eerily similar murder happens. I thought we were losing the plot in overly detailed food &art descriptions, but we wrapped back around.

Clwojick Glad it was a pick for you! I recently purchased it on Chirp Audiobooks. 2y

I DNFd East of Eden 120 pages in, and I do not care for Steinbeck, but East of Eden *is* a biblical story. It is. It‘s a Re-creation of Cain & Abel. C‘mon Nora.

Naomi Bowes lost her childhood the night she discovered her father‘s terrifying secret.

But now as an adult, and successful photographer, with a different last name she has the opportunity for a fresh start.

After finally finding a potentially permanent home along with a romantic love interest, Naomi seems on her way to happiness.

We all know secrets can‘t be kept forever, and the past doesn‘t always stay in the past.

First Nora Roberts book!

This was my first Nora Roberts book and I thought it was pretty good. I enjoyed the beginning a lot but got a little bored in the middle. It did pick back up at the end though
I‘d definitely try some more of her books, do you recommend any of them?

BookwormM I like most Nora Roberts you know what you are getting if you like one you will probably like more. I like the romantic thrillers haven‘t tried the supernatural books I really enjoy the In Death series she wrote as JD Robb 3y

A personal #favourite and enticing #thriller.
#murder #mystery #romance - this story has it all, while discussing the dialogue of one‘s past and future, and questions whether one can ever really let go of their past.

It has been two months working the front line and trying to adapt to a new norm; but in between hectic work schedules and trying to teach an 8 year old, I have been able to start a new book even though there are days I can read only two pages or none at all. I do have to admit I have read more Childrens books than anything lately. Here is to hope that life gets back to normal but hey isn‘t that what life is all about?

Nora Roberts is so prolific, I don‘t read everything she publishes. A booktuber I follow recommended this one, so I dug in. It was a great read. More romance than thriller, I enjoyed the main characters, their relationship, and the setting. My favorite aspect may be the secondary characters. The main character‘s uncles and brother and the relationships. Now I want to move to the west coast, pay someone to rehab an old house, and learn to cook.

It started out strong and I thought this was going to be a “couldn‘t put it down” read. I had no problem putting it down BUT I didn‘t give up. The strong first quarter was in the back of my mind and I knew there was more goodness somewhere I just need to be patient. It wasn‘t horrible just a tad boring. About the half way mark things stared to pick up. I didn‘t want to put it down. I actually ended up loving this book. It was fantastic. 5⭐️

This book feels bigger than it looks. So well written, right from the beginning I was hooked. The story slowed a little but still kept my attention because I loved the characters. Writing was descriptive but not over the top. Really clever storyline I had no idea until the last few pages! Would really recommend this book.

I LOVE a good Nora Roberts book. Especially when it fades from erotic scenes and takes on the role of a well built community trapped in a nightmare where serial killers roam. The main character is strong but not whiny when the males in her life begin to hover. Her development is slow, reasonable, and complete. The suspense takes the forefront, the mystery, the crime solving. Any romance or development happens naturally alongside it.
