mandarchy That looks very retro. My dad always had a bookstand on the breakfast counter. He had one just like that until the 80s. My mom got him a plexiglass book stand that kept the pages safe from splatter. 3y

I loved, loved, loved this book! (But that‘s because I‘m a #stationerynerd!)

The author takes a look at the history of all types of stationery; pens, pencils, erasers, set squares, highlighters, Post-It notes etc etc.

It‘s clear that he loves stationery as much as I do - the book is warm and funny, as well as very informative.

I need to go out now and buy some new pens and notebooks! ❤️

With good intentions, I buy non-fiction books but then never read them because I opt to lose myself in a fantasy world instead. CoffeeNBooks @Mitch Me too! Whenever we went on long road trips, my mom would make a bag for me with paper, markers, stickers, tape, and a stapler, and I would be content for hours designing, making, decorating, and writing in booklets. 😀 6y

The tattered one in the middle is my diary. For some reason, to feel "free" in my diaries, I feel better using a notebook that I've had forever and feels/looks worn. I feel like I can't really let the ugly thoughts loose in a pristine new journal ?

The floral one is my current notebook for keeping notes on books I'm reading and the Hello Animals one (subheading is "Make my amazing day" lol) is my reading log. #notebooks #journals #riotgrams

saresmoore An old journal for ugly thoughts! I love that idea. Sometimes I read back over old diaries and just cringe and/or have a residual panic attack. I think I need an ugly thoughts journal to spare myself future reminiscent agony. 7y

shawnmooney I've gotten away from journaling lately, but for most of the past 35 or so years I did keep a journal regularly if not obsessively. My weird habit was never using the same style or design or color or size of notebook more than once. Not ever! 😻 7y

My mail today, so far😊, is #stationerymail Dymocks.com.au have partnered with notemaker.com.au so when I was bookbrowsing, I got sucked into the world of high end stationery! I've bought some washi tape for my PBC letters,a vellum card stock & envelope set,two pocket notebooks for book journaling, green ink that smells like apples & my first ever fountain pen. It's LAMY & comes with cartridges, bottle of ink & converter. A bullet journal is next.

TrishB I just had a good few minutes looking with my first cup of tea in work 💗 I have a couple of Lamy pens, they write really lovely! I am surrounded by my pens and stationery in work, but, like books, there's always room for more! 7y

Apart from books, the only other serious shopping habit that I possess is for stationary (nothing seems to possess more potential than a good blank notebook and a trusted pen) so this book ticked all the boxes. Just started, but I now know a lot more about the development of the biro than I did previously.
