#wondrouswednesday @Eggs Thanks for tagging me @mandarchy !

1. The first major world event that I was old enough to understand was 9/11. I was in 7th grade.
2. Definitely use the library more! Libby is my lifesaver!
3. The first book I can remember reading is the tagged book. One of my grandmas taught me to read when I was four and I've loved it ever since. ❤️

wisherwishinguponastar I have been screamed at by physically grown adults because of this. Grow👏Up👏 3y
SamAnne I suspect Dr. Seuss would have approved of the move, knowing how he disavowed his racist cartoons in his later years and made edits to his books to do away with some of the caricatures. 3y

One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish is a P book written by Dr. Seuss! This book is great for beginning readers and a super fun RA book to read to your class! This books tells the story of Jay and Kay and all of the amazing creatures that they have for pets. Not only are these creatures pets, but they are also friends. Read the book to see all the different types of friends Jay and Kay have!! #ucflae3414su20

JessicaO Below I have linked fun activities and lesson plans that go along with this book! It will be great to use this book as a RA to your students and see how they react to the story. UDL principle 2.5 to illustrate through multiple media and ESOL strategy #4 to link the lesson to students‘ prior knowledge work best for this book! Students can communicate different pets or imaginative friends they have created in their own minds and share to the class! 4y
gpraytor Everyone loves this classic and one that never goes out of style! 4y
DrSpalding His books are excellent read alouds. Fun and educational! There is a great deal of rhyme incorporated into his books which aids phonological awareness. Helpful resource and nice alignment to universal design principles and strategies. 4y

@TheSpineView #two4tuesday

1. Somewhat. I did a MAJOR cull earlier this year and brought it down from a genuinely unreasonable almost-2000 to a still-unreasonable-but-I-pretend-it's-not 432 (although that's just the books I don't own and doesn't count books I already own, series of books, mystery series, or nonfiction... whoops)
2. Mostly I've tried to get more selective about only adding books I genuinely think I will enjoy -

TheAromaofBooks Out of hand means books I don't even remember hearing about, much less adding!!!
5y
TheSpineView I have culled too. I have a hard time parting with books I have not read even though I know I will never read them. 5y
TheAromaofBooks @TheSpineView - it's super tough!! But I try to remind myself that there is no way I can read every book in the world, so I should at least try to only read books that I am really going to love. I tend to read reviews and add them haphazardly, then later realize that it isn't really a book that sounds interesting to me haha 5y
See All 6 Comments
TheSpineView @TheAromaofBooks Recently I have done much better at parting with books. I figure it will be something I always struggle with. 5y
Crazeedi I really need to do this #blameitonlitsy for my unending tbr!😉 so I'm needing to do this for real 5y
TheAromaofBooks @Crazeedi - It helps that I'm ridiculously obsessive and have everything organized on an Excel spreadsheet... part of my cull may or may not have involved color coding the titles by genre. I don't have a problem!!! :-D 5y

Dr. Seuss has this fantastic (P) book to use in a CR. This book could be used in the classroom to expose P to young students. UDL 5.3 building fluencies and ESOL 4 link lesson topic to prior knowledge will help students learn about the different literary structures. This website provides follow up activities students can interact with after reading to make connections http://m.seussville.com/activities.html #LAE3414sp19

Channing_Austin @Zmohammad I went to Universal Knights last night and I took a picture by the One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish sigh! I love this book! I read this to my little cousin and she loved it! 5y

Unfortunately you can‘t have context conversations with readers of this level, like you can with older students. I can‘t help but be disappointed with new children‘s books & series with no/little authentic diversity. I‘m hoping there will be by the time my children are parents of readers.
