The No-Show
The No-Show | Beth O'Leary
Three women who seemingly have nothing in common find that they're involved with the same man in this smart new rom-com by Beth O'Leary, bestselling author of The Flatshare. Siobhan is a quick-tempered life coach with way too much on her plate. Miranda is a tree surgeon used to being treated as just one of the guys on the job. Jane is a soft-spoken volunteer for the local charity shop with zero sense of self-worth. These three women are strangers who have only one thing in common: theyve all been stood up on the same day, the very worst day to be stood upValentines Day. And, unbeknownst to them, theyve all been stood up by the same man. Once they've each forgiven him for standing them up, they are all in serious danger of falling in love with a man who may have not just one or two but three women on the go.... Is there more to him than meets the eye? Where was he on Valentines Day? And will they each untangle the truth before they all get their hearts broken?

Bailedbailed

Kinda bummed that I not only didn't connect and enjoy the last two Beth O'Leary books but literally abandoned/bailed on them. I loved the first few of her titles and this saddens me.

Sharpeipup I vent the same way. 6d

Wow, I tore through this because I NEEDED to know what happened. I‘m glad I trusted Littens like @Julsmarshall who said to give it a chance even though I was furious still after 60%! O‘Leary is truly a genius storyteller and this book was worth every agonizing minute. At times it even veered into suspense novel territory - STRONG Liane Moriarty vibes, right??

Julsmarshall So glad you hung in there! I felt that same way you did-on all counts!! 1mo
marleed I agree - a masterclass in storytelling! 1mo
LiteraryinLawrence So glad Beth O‘Leary delivered again! I will definitely read this based on your endorsement! 1mo

Goodness, this was wonderful. I was so mad and almost gave up on this book 60% in but then realized it wasn‘t what it seemed and I‘m so glad I hung in there. There was a twist that made it totally worthwhile. Warm and meaningful, this book grabs you in all the right places and keeps you reading until the end. #romantsy

marleed I loved the Flatshare and thought this one lived up to what I hope for from Beth O‘Leary. Such a great way to spin a story - and impossible to talk about without spoilers! 1mo
BennettBookworm Okay this gives me hope bc I just started and I‘m so angry! But I‘m going to keep on reading! :) 1mo
Julsmarshall Hang in there, @BennettBookworm , can‘t wait to hear what you think when you‘re done! 1mo

I have really liked every one of O‘Leary‘s books. The audio is very well done. She masters how to write a fun romance with serious depth, how to include heavy things without the whole story being depressing. In this one, there is a bit of fun figuring out what is going on. Why did this man no-show on Valentine‘s Day for 3 separate women? What are the connections? Another story with great heart.

The Flatshare is one of my all time favorite romcoms making my anticipation for a new Beth O‘Leary book sometimes too high to meet. This time - I loved it. It‘s a fascinating way to spin a story. I have no problem disliking unlikeable characters in a book, but I‘m always entertained when a story can be told so well with a cast of likable characters. No spoilers so I have to stop typing now!

LiteraryinLawrence I loved 2 of her previous books, so I‘m excited to hear she has a new one! 2mo
marleed @LiteraryinLawrence if put this on-par with The Flatshare, it will be fun to watch for your review! 2mo
bookandbedandtea I agree about The Flatshare- it's a wonderful book! I was disappointed in her second so went into this with hesitation but, luckily, was pleased with this. She's back on my favorite authors list! 2mo

I can't think of anything to say about this that isn't a spoiler so I'll just say I liked all three female leads AND the man this story revolves around. One could nitpick a few things but I enjoyed the journey so I won't bother.

marleed Oh my gosh, I just reviewed this today with very similar thoughts. No spoiling is key! 2mo
bookandbedandtea @marleed Absolutely! I'm so glad I got to read this before I heard any spoilers. 2mo

Having read two of this author's previous books, I thought I knew what I was getting...but this was a romantic comedy - with a twist and a bit of heartbreak. So slightly different, but still so enjoyable and certainly a reminder to not make assumptions. I loved the three female characters, all different but all strong in their own way. I gave it 4/5 stars and will gladly read even more books by this author.

This was SO GOOD.
Downloaded an ARC from Netgalley Friday afternoon. Started reading around 7:30 Friday night. Finished it at 11:30 after ignoring Noel and the kids all evening. Haha. #betholeary

marleed Ohhh, I‘m contemplating a pre-order. I think the Flat Share is among my top 5 rom-com reads! 5mo
howjessicareads @marleed — this equals the Flatshare for me, but in a different way. A little more poignant; a little less funny. 5mo
