Man-Eaters #9 | Chelsea Cain
post image

Can‘t forget it‘s Wednesday which means it‘s also #ncbd! Another light week. I only picked up the tagged comic as well as Deadpool #13. Skottie Young‘s Deadpool run ends with Issue #15 so just two more issues to wrap up whatever story he wants to tell. As for Man-Eaters, I love the cover and am excited to see where Cain is taking the story.

For Whom the Bell Tolls | Ernest Hemingway

Book #15: I started reading For Whom the Bell Tolls the summer before 11th grade for a class where we had to pick our own book to read over the summer. Unfortunately, I never actually finished the book for class. Fast forward three years and I was sick with mono during the end of my freshman year of undergrad and I clearly had nothing else to...

White Night | Jim Butcher

This is probably the longest series I've read, and Jim Butcher still keeps dishing them out (#15 now?). This is book #9 and wow, the action towards the end was intense! I loved seeing Harry's old friends and new friends come together. It's not easy to sustain a series this long, but so far, every installment has been better than the last. 👌🏼

TrishB @Cinfhen I got number one in a Litsy swap but it just hasn‘t winked at me yet 😁 but it‘s there when I‘m ready! Interested to see if my series squad have read! 1mo
Andrew65 @TrishB As you‘d expect I‘ve read some of the series. 😂 But in this case only the first one, not progressed it yet! 🤷‍♂️ @Cinfhen @EadieB (edited) 1mo
Jovy @cinfhen @trishb @andrew65 @EadieB I read one installment a year 😂 Butcher (and Dresden) has come a long way since book one, for sure! 1mo
EadieB @Jovy I‘ll have to give it a try as I‘m not much interested in fantasy. @Cinfhen @Andrew65 @TrishB (edited) 1mo

Stardust | Neil Gaiman

The movie follows this closely, but as usual the book is more magical. This was a quick read that I can imagine going back to again and again. I‘ll have to look out for a copy of my own.

Cinfhen I haven‘t had much luck with Gaiman, maybe I should try this book💖 (edited) 2mo
IndoorDame @Cinfhen it‘s told in a classic folk tale style if that appeals :) 2mo

Knuffle Bunny | Mo Willems
post image

This TL book won the Caldecott Award. It‘s such a realistic book about a child losing their favorite teddy bear. It was a cute book to read and kind of funny. Her first words happened to be “Knuffle Bunny”! This would be a good book to do as a RT.

ally11301 An ESOL strategy that can be aligned to this book would be #15 which is to reinforce the key ideas presented again and again, such as when Trixie was blabbing and making a scene because she lost her teddy bear. It gave the idea that something was wrong which will help ESOL students! 2mo
ally11301 An UDL that aligns would be 3.1 because it gives background knowledge to kids who remembered having a teddy bear that they love/loved. 2mo

Kcallihan I love this book! I think that the colorful images against the dark backdrop not only helps to emphasize the important parts in the story but also is entertaining for the children to look at. I love this book choice!! I think you picked a good UDL because most kids will he able to remember losing a stuffed animal/something important to them that they loved. 2mo
hkeiger No Willems is one of my favorites!! Definitely will read 2mo
DrSpalding This could make a wonderful, simple readers theater. You should create it! 2mo

So I‘ve put a self-ban on buying new books for a while because I have too many sitting on my shelf that haven‘t been read yet!
So what I‘m going to do is get someone else to pick a number and then whichever book is next to that number will be the book I read next! ✨✨✨✨

Sorry @SerialReader #unpopularopinion I didn't think this was funny at all and I was quite a bit bored. I guess I just don't understand old fashioned humor. #whoknows 🤷🤷 #15 #2019

sophierayton Me too. I have friends who love this book and I'm like "seriously?!" Just goes to show there's a book for everyone and not all books are for all people. 4mo
