Really disliked this book. The main character did not feel like a Jane Austen character at all.. a very submissive, quiet, conservative girl, contented with whatever sympathy she got, and at the end the love that she wanted was so whisy-washily decided that just made be angry 😅

On that event they removed to Mansfield; and the Parsonage there, which, under each of its two former owners, Fanny had never been able to approach but with some painful sensation of restraint in her eyes, as everything else within the view and patronage of Mansfield Park had long been.

Book Haul Pic 2! 💕📚💕

I added another Penguin Clothbound hardcover to my collection today! This time it's Madame Bovary, which I've been wanting to get for awhile now! I love the dark purple and orange cover! 😍 And I've been resisting this Mansfield Park Chiltern edition for ages now but I finally caved and got it today! The picture doesn't do it justice - it's exquisite! It's so pretty it actually makes my heart ache! ❤📖❤ #bookhaul

This was a good read. It has to be one of my favorite Jane Austen novels. It made me feel very relax while I was reading. I would definitely recommend reading this book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Listening to Billie Piper‘s narration of Mansfield Park has encouraged me to watch her as Fanny Price. Fanny is not, however, a favourite. Why is she so sickly? She does not seem to be able to walk for more than 10 minutes! As a heroine, I much prefer Lizzie Bennett‘s strength and athleticism. I also deplore Fanny‘s passivity and her inability to express her needs or attempt to change her situation.

Made my first visit to BN in quite a while. They have these gorgeous and inexpensive copies of classics. (Not that I don‘t already own Mansfield Park, but loved the cover).

About thirty years ago Miss Maria Ward, of Huntingdon, with only seven thousand pounds, had the good luck to captivate Sir Thomas Bertram, of Mansfield Park, in the county of of Northampton, and to be thereby raised to the rank of a baronet‘s lady, with all the comforts and consequences of an handsome house and large income.

This afternoon is the last watch party for the 2007 MP movie starring Billie Piper. Only 1 person is signed up for this one (hi, @OriginalCyn620 😉) so far, but there is still time to join us... showing is at 4 pm US Central.

Completed my Jane Austen collection today. 😊 I love how each book is a different edition, and carries its own memories. Someday I'd like a boxed set, but I feel very attached to these 6 for now.

I did keep up with the #Pemberlittens chapter-a-day but am horribly behind in posting Litsy reviews...

Even the worst Jane Austen is better than 95% of books out there... And yes, I think like most people, this is my least favourite of Austen's work. It drags in places, it doesn't have the same humour as her other works and Fanny is a little flat as a heroine. But the prose is beautiful and there are places where classic Jane shines through.

Almost finished reading this monstrosity of a book! Although it‘s not my favorite Austen (shocker), I don‘t think Fanny is as loathesome as some people say. I think Fanny has an admirable sense of self-control considering how abused she has been. While this is a more modern interpretation, I believe this book has a lot to say about anxiety and psychological abuse. #pemberlittens
