Manslaughter Park | Tirzah Price

Pickpick

So, full review time. I liked that Mansfield Park was an art emporium and Fanny a burgeoning artist. The death of Sir Thomas was sad but a great motivator for all of the selfish habits of the family to come to light. I suspected the murderer from the beginning but the whole motive wasn't overly obvious either. I enjoyed the slight change in Mary Crawford, to be more sympathetic & trying to gain real friendship with Fanny. The ending was satisfying

A fun read, and the mystery kept me guessing. I loved that Lizzie Bennet and Mr. Darcy appeared!

This was my August selection for #JaneAustenThenAndNow @Crinoline_Laphroaig
#Pantone2025 #PrimrosePink @Lauredhel

Crinoline_Laphroaig I need to pick this author back up. 2d
julieclair @Crinoline_Laphroaig It was the first I‘ve read in this series, but I‘d be happy to read more. 2d

It's been getting more and more chilly here in Michigan, so I'm very happy to take advantage of a sunshine-y day with some reading in the garden! Tirzah Price's latest Austen mystery was slow to start for me, but then suddenly I found I'd read more than 200 pages all at once. 😂 Planning to finish out the day with the final third of a different take on Fanny Price and, let's face it, probably a cocktail at some point. Happy Saturday, friends!

peanutnine Nice! I loved the ending of this one 1w
Andrea313 @peanutnine Same here! I'm not usually a Mary Crawford fan but she was great in this remix! 1w
Crinoline_Laphroaig I struggled with her Pride and Premeditation and never went back to. Need to revisit this one. 7d
Andrea313 @Crinoline_Laphroaig That one was by far the weakest imo, I had to force myself to finish. This one and the S&S one were silly fun, if a little slow to start. 7d

About thirty years ago Miss Maria Ward, of Huntingdon, with only seven thousand pounds, had the good luck to captivate Sir Thomas Bertram, of Mansfield Park, in the county of Northampton, and to be thereby raised to the rank of a baronet‘s lady, with all the comforts and consequences of an handsome house and large income.

On that event they removed to Mansfield; and the Parsonage there, which, under each of its two former owners, Fanny had never been able to approach but with some painful sensation of restraint or alarm, soon grew as dear to her heart, and as thoroughly perfect in her eyes, as everything else within the view and patronage of Mansfield Park had long been.

Excellent #bookmail today!
The peacock feather is from Flannery O'Conner's Andalusia, her home in Millidgeville, Georgia. She was a big fan of the peacock and had a bunch.

LeahBergen How cool! 🦚 And I have this diary, too 👍 3y
batsy Ooh yes to that poetry diary! I keep looking lovingly at mine 😂 3y
Aimeesue @LeahBergen @batsy Between Litsy, GR and Net Galley, I was starting to have trouble keeping track of what was due when. This seemed like a lovely solution - all book tracking and nothing else ☺️ 3y
Jess_Read_This Oh wow! That peacock feather is a treasure! 3y
Aimeesue @Jess_Read_This I have five or six that I bought there, all in a vase on the mantle. Well, not a vase so much as a wine bottle shaped like a black cat, but same-same, right? 😂 3y
