I know that a lot of people really love this book, but it just didn‘t connect for me. I didn‘t particularly enjoy Addie as a character. The story missed the mark for me…it glossed over historical events that would have been super interesting to hear about. One part that I really did enjoy was the theme of being able to leave a mark through inspiring others to create something. Also, when Remy pushed those coins into her hand the next morning…💔.

While these didn‘t make my best of list they were both solid reads that I enjoyed.

Wow I loved this book;I couldn‘t put it down. The writing is great and the story very compelling. I cried a bit too and now I wonder who will play each role in the upcoming movie. Great story, fast read.

From what I‘ve heard about this book I was nervous I wouldn‘t like it, but the story really worked for me. There‘s a lot to like in this novel. Jumping countries, time travel, and romance. This was a fun read, and with the pace that I read it, I can‘t give it less than a 4 but there are some flaws. The ending missed the mark for me- I felt as though the author used a stereotypical ending to finish a very well written book. However, it is a fun, escapism read😁

ManyWordsLater Ditto on the ending! 5mo

Okay I have to admit that I switched from kindle book to audiobook after a few chapters because I wasn‘t in the “reading” mood. BUT THIS book right here is amazing and the narrator is fabulous. Hands down, one of my favorites this year. Highly recommend!

Here‘s a book you can really settle down with. It takes place through centuries, against many backdrops. What exactly happens when you make a deal with the devil, fall in love and must move on? Addie LaRue takes you on an adventure for all times and believe me, you want to go with her.

Happy Birthday to one of my favorite contemporary authors - Victoria Schwab! 💕📚💕 I tagged my favorite book of hers, but honestly, they're all amazing!

Aims42 I just finished “The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue” and loved it!! I had to read her other books, so I followed up Addie with her first Shadows Magic book, it was gripping!! She‘s definitely become a favorite author of mine too 👍🏻 6mo

I love the premise of the book; however, I find it to be repetitive and much too long. I didn't find any of the major characters likely and did not think there was much character development. I did not like the portrayal of depression as seen in Henry. After 300+ years of living, I expected Addie to visit more diverse places, not just white American or European countries. The imagery is good; I can certainly see this as a movie.

Hi Littens! I wish to read these books over the course of the month. Which one do you think would be great to read first, The Invisible Life Of Addie LaRue or The Midnight Library?

#ThisOrThat

peanutnine Oh these are both great choices! They both touch on the same themes of grief and death. I think it depends on what mood you're in. Addie LaRue is longer and darker, Midnight Library is a bit more light-hearted and a quick read 7mo
Mavey Thanks @peanutnine !😊💖 I was wondering which order to read these two to develop a more cohesive understanding on the themes! My current mood is levitating me towards Addie''s story!🤩 7mo

Addie‘s story was intriguing & the conditions on her curse made things interesting. The relationship between her, Luc, & Henry wasn‘t a surprise, but Luc developing true feelings other than possessiveness was a bit of stretch for me. Addie‘s new deal could be an end or a lead-in to a sequel. Overall, while I found it interesting, I wasn‘t fully immersed in this one. See there‘s tons of fan art & merchandise online, so others obviously love it.

This book is interesting. What are you willing to sell your soul for? I felt bad for everything Addie went thru. There were some parts of the story that could have been left out. I listened to the book and at times I got confused on the timeline. I wanted to feel bad for Luke but disliked him at the same time which was a weird feeling to have for that character. I'm glad I read this but it wasn't a top favorite.

As with all of the books I‘ve read lately, I don‘t know how it came to me and I loved it. Just realized the cover shows the freckles on Addie‘s face that are like a constellation. I don‘t know how to describe this book without spoiling it. I want others to have the same surprises I did. I just say - read it, it‘s a great adventure full of incredible descriptions of events in history and will cause you to look at your life differently
