I am not sure what I thought this book was going to be but I have been avoiding it. Probably because it revolves around motherhood which normally bores & turns me off. This though was absorbing. I felt for Alice and found her struggle to piece her life together interesting & engrossing. I love that all characters were vividly drawn, & I had so much sadness for Elizabeth, her story was very well done also.
Not sure I love the ending though.

I dont remember the last book that made me laugh out loud. This book was quite the tonic.

Refreshingly our protagonist is 39 year old Alice and she was so damn relatable for me. I dont think I would have appreciated quite how good this book is if I was reading it in my twenties. Alice has an accident at a spin class and wakes up age 29, 10 years of memories gone.

A brilliant reading experience had, 5 stars.

IuliaC I loved this one. It left me thinking if my 10-year younger self would actually like my current self 😁 11mo

Random kitten picture because it‘s #caturday, & the kittens are cute. Book isn‘t deep, but was fun, and I‘m sure it will spark lots of discussion at book club. Predictable ending, but that‘s what you expect from this type of novel. Not my favorite Moriarty, but not the worst. Solidly in the middle.

I wanted an engrossing, good, fast read, so I picked up a Liane Moriarty and it didn‘t disappoint! This one was thought provoking and deep in ways I wasn‘t expecting. Some of it was a bit of a stretch from reality, but regardless I liked the characters and wanted to know what would happen to them. 4⭐️

How can ten years of your life just disappear?

Alice is twenty-nine.

She adores sleep, chocolate, and her ramshackle new house.

She's newly engaged to the wonderful Nick, and is pregnant with her first baby. But there's just one problem.

That was ten years ago . . .#unforgettable #boundtogetherjune

I'm always in the midst of several books, never quite content with sticking with one at a time. I'm 1/2 way through with 'The Ten Thousand Doors of January' and really should finish that one..but 'What Alice Forgot' is way too gripping and interesting to set down.
To wake up after hitting your head and believe it's 1998 not 2008. To believe you're 29, not 39. To have no memory of kids or anything that happened in the last 10 years...😳

Definitely a page turner, but a bit predictable. However, the quote that I posted late last night/early this morning is one of the best descriptions of a long-time marriage that I've ever heard.

This is the first Moriarty I've read... What's your favorite?

⭐⭐⭐/⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

LiteraryinLawrence I really like her. I think The Husband‘s Secret and Big Little Lies might be my favorites. I did not like Nine Perfect Strangers. 2y

"She had always thought that exquisitely happy time at the beginning of their relationship was the ultimate, the feeling they'd always been trying to replicate, to get back, but she now realized that was wrong. That was like comparing sparkling mineral water to champagne. Early love is exciting & exhilarating. It's light & bubbly. Anyone can love like that. But love after three children, after a separation & a near-divorce... (cont in comment)

mom2bugnbee ... after you've hurt each other & forgiven each other, bored each other & surprised each other, after you've seen the worst & the best -- well, that sort of love is ineffable. It deserves its own word. 2y

This was a great read! Had me hooked from the start. Really entertaining.
Like Alice, I have 3 kids around the same ages as hers and I‘ve just turned 40 this year, so it was easy to put myself in her shoes.
It made me think about who I was 10 years ago, what I would have wished for myself, what I perhaps take for granted today and seeing my life through fresh eyes.

With the exception of a couple I really do enjoy a Liane Moriarty novel. This one was particularly enjoyable because I could really relate to Alice. A mother of three the same age as me with children roughly the same age (though I have 2), I could imagine how alien my life would feel if I‘d lost the last ten years worth of memories. A lot happened in those years for both of us. #bookspin @TheAromaofBooks

I picked this one up on recommendation from #modernmrsdarcy as a book about marriage. I was fascinated by the premise, and the writing and storyline were good. The use of three separate storylines was an interesting narrative technique.

Overall, I‘m glad I read it and I liked the themes of redemption, reflection, and growth. But it didn‘t totally wow me.

Between 3.5-4 ⭐️

StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego This is probably my least favourite of hers. Not that it was bad, her other books just have really good plot twists, which this one was lacking. 2y

A cautionary tale for couples who might start to take each other for granted over the years. A good conversation starter too: what would you do if you lose your memory of the last 10 years? Alice falls off her bike during a spin class, bumps her head and forgets the past ten years of her life, believing she‘s 29 instead of 39. This book made me pause for thought, reflecting on what my younger self would think of my life right now. At 459 pages, I felt it could have been cut down a bit but a good read all the same.
