Two Can Keep a Secret
Two Can Keep a Secret | Karen M. Mcmanus
The New York Times bestselling author of One of Us Is Lying, Karen M. McManus, is back with an all-new, page-turning mystery perfect for fans of Riverdale! Echo Ridge is small-town America. Ellery's never been there, but she's heard all about it. Her aunt went missing there at age seventeen. And only five years ago, a homecoming queen put the town on the map when she was killed. Now Ellery has to move there to live with a grandmother she barely knows. The town is picture-perfect, but it's hiding secrets. And before school even begins for Ellery, someone's declared open season on homecoming, promising to make it as dangerous as it was five years ago. Then, almost as if to prove it, another girl goes missing. Ellery knows all about secrets. Her mother has them; her grandmother does too. And the longer she's in Echo Ridge, the clearer it becomes that everyone there is hiding something. The thing is, secrets are dangerous--and most people aren't good at keeping them. Which is why in Echo Ridge, it's safest to keep your secrets to yourself. Praise for Karen M. This what a bit too much back and forth between characters. Less would have been more in this case, but was still a great read

Not bad. Not great but not bad. It's a fun escape with a decent mystery. I'd recommend reading an ebook or paper copy over the audiobook.

As usual, my planned tbr has gone out the window this month, and I've just been reading and listening to YA of different genres. Please share any recs you might have, especially for horror.

By far my least favorite of this author. The “super shocking twisty final line” left more unnecessary questions to a book with a couple plot holes that left it feeling unresolved. If you‘re going to “shock” me at least make it make sense.

I just started reading this book but so far I really like it! I can kinda relate to something in this book so far, these two teens moved to a different place from there home town and this summer I did that. I was really shocked when they first saw a dead body on the road on there way to there new home. I really enjoy this book so far it has a lot of surprises to keep you reading!!

4✨ I was very engaged throughout this story. They throw a lot of potentials at you. Is it one killer or are there several? It kept me guessing until the very end with small secrets as well.

When it comes to reading, July hasn't been very good to me. Yet. One of the only books I really enjoyed so far, is this one. I almost got addicted to it. McManus wrote another YA thriller, that's really thrilling - I couldn't stop reading, and yes, this one is my favourite book by her so far. She kept me on asking myself what happened, making up theories, looking out for whoever has a motive.

TheAromaofBooks Glad you found a book that hooked you!! June was a meh reading month for me. It felt like every book I finished I was just kind like... that was okay... lol 3y
Jari-chan @TheAromaofBooks I feel you there! It started with me in June as well, but July really overdoes it so far 😏 3y

Decompressing from a looong work day with some candlelight reading🕯📖

It's taking me a really long time to get through this one. I've been jumping in and out for weeks, pretty much only gravitating towards it when I'm between other books. It's a pretty good mystery though. Idk why I can't fully invest.

Echo Ridge is a town on the Canadian border and had its first tragic loss in 1995 when high school senior Sarah Corcoran vanished. Then homecoming queen Lacey Kilduff was found dead in Murderland Halloween park. Two dead HomecomingQueens. 5 years later. Is the killer back? Echo Ridge is not a good place to be popular. Kept me guessing until the very end. Characters are very believable. Recommended.

Wow! Loved it! I never guessed the ending. I also love when 2 different mysteries are going on simultaneously, keeps me more interested. I thought this story was believable, but even if it wasn't, that's the whole point of fiction thriller! It doesn't have to be real or believable! My favorite part about reading is being able to escape to worlds that are far fetched and soo unlike the real world. If I wanted that I could turn on the news! 5/5stars

⭐️⭐️⭐️ My fundamental issue with thrillers is that they‘re often too unrealistic, but try to pass as believable. There‘s way too much weird - and convenient - shit going down in Echo Ridge, buuut I still needed to know wtf happened to those beautiful homecoming queens. I didn‘t love the story, but McManus is good at keeping those pages turning.

November's #BookSpinBingo list

I wasn‘t as successful in October as I would have hoped. But I'm trying to pressure myself a little less and allow myself to just be okay with what I am enjoying in the moment.

#mentalhealthawareness #selfcare #tbr

TheAromaofBooks Glad to have you along for another round!! No pressure is the way to go!! I don't want people to be stressed by this challenge, so just read what you can with no worries. I've found having five free spaces (instead of titles for 21-25) has helped ease some of the pressure, since it means if I get sidetracked onto other reads, I still get “credit“ on my bingo board!! Anyway, good luck!! 3y

Second book by Karen McManus, and again, I‘m impressed. She has a knack for suspense and twist endings. I love how she ties all of the loose ends together throughout the story, without giving away the end. Definitely a good read!
