Finished this today. I cannot believe I have not read it until now. I plan on keeping this and handing over to my son ( he is 10 now and needs to mature before reading). 4⭐ #wintergames #tmskellington #tbrread @Crimson613

I COULD NOT HIT “ADD TO CART” FAST ENOUGH!
Also with my Educator Card it was $16?! Thank you Barnes and Noble!
Finally got the chance to finish my first read of this AMAZING book! Enjoyed it immensely, and glad I got to read it over audiobook.

Thanks for the tag @veritysalter 🙃
Yesterday I put these up in the library. I shared on my Insta story and have gotten a lot of hilarious comments. At home for a sick day, but I look forward to the reactions from students tomorrow 😂
10.16.19-10.21.19 Saw the book online
Ponyboy lives with two brothers, Sodapop and Darry. Lives in the poor eastside. Two rivalries west and east or known as Socs versus Greasers. He was a part of a gang, 14 years old.
Ponyboy Curtis
attacked by Socs and killed on by self defense, skips town after a fire they were rushed to a hospital. Johnny died and he went to court for his actions.
Found a audiobook to listen to this cold and drizzling work day in the library! This is one of the books never read in Jr High- it wasn‘t on the reading list at my school and never got a chance to read it! Enjoying it so far 😱💙
Saw the film 2 decades ago but only read the book last night. Throwback to the 80's. Classic!

I read twelve books in August. My favorites were The Outsiders, How to Walk Away, and The Whisper Man. What did you read this month? #sammyreadsbooks #augustreads
This makes me so happy to see other publishers are starting to make the mini flip books. So great for travel!
It‘s hard to imagine not giving this book 5 ⭐️. If I could, I‘d add one star for each main character, one for each heart beat and heart break. Some might wish them hope. I‘d wish them light - light fading in the sunset, light at the end of the tunnel, light in Ponyboy‘s bleach blond hair, lighter burdens, brighter dreams, just light.
I wish I could tell you everything changes, but not much has. We may not label our troubles, but Tulsa is still a place of hard living and sob stories. But every dark day has an element of light to it. For Hinton‘s classic tome, Johnny Cade was that light.
P.S. What are you up to, Tom Cruise?!
Johnny Cade has nothing. Nothing but a set of black, haunting eyes and a band of misfit brothers. But his story changed them all.
I‘ve only read The Outsiders twice in my life. Seen the movie more times than I can count. Having grown up in rural Tulsa, the story hits way too close to home - from the first line! For those who are curious, The Admiral is still there. It was the movie house of my childhood much like Ponyboy‘s.
“I saw Johnny‘s cigarette glowing in the dark sand and ordered vaguely what it was like inside a burning ember.” ~ Ponyboy Curtis
Having a low-key morning with a coffee and a reread of a favorite book! 😊☕️❤️📚
I missed the boat on reading S.E Hinton‘s The Outsiders as a high schooler, but after Episode 56 of my podcast, I‘m now officially caught up! We talk about the pop culture resonance of “Stay gold, Ponyboy,” Hinton‘s fascinating portrayal of masculinity, her journey from (literal) teen to publishing sensation, and the story‘s still relevant representation of marginalized teens. Link to listen in bio!
My son isn‘t a reader; he‘s a gamer. But he‘s read The Outsiders three times this year. He likes it that much, and that makes this mama happy 😄 Hope everyone has had a great Monday! Mine went so smoothly at work, I‘m in a great mood! 😊
The outsiders was a book I read a while ago but if I recall I really enjoyed it. For those who enjoy realistic fiction and from a point of vue from the mid sixties this is a novel for you. It tells the story of friendship, hardship, gangs, and what life was like in the sixties. I highly recommend the outsiders for anyone who enjoys classics or simply an enjoyable, thought provoking read.
Tough is the same as rough; tuff means cool, sharp - like a tuff looking Mustang or a tuff record. In our neighbourhood both are compliments.
I find it such a privilege to teach high school students and to influence them to love reading as much as I do. Cannot wait to teach my year 8 kiddies this novel for the next 10 weeks and compare it to the film! Watch this space! #englishteachersoflitsy
Humor for today:
My student comes up to me right before his final exam, and says, “You know the Socs, in The Outsiders? Apparently it‘s pronounced ‘Soashes‘...”
I read the entire story out loud in class, and I‘d been calling them the “Socks” 🤦🏻♀️
Struggles of reading an unfamiliar word in a book 😂
I read this between July 15 & 18th & gave it 4 ⭐️ on Good Reads. I haven‘t read this book since junior high school. I think I like it better now as an adult than I did as a teenager.
Just finished this gem! I taught this for my summer school English session. It was both my and my student‘s first time reading it!
So many moments of 😮 throughout this book. The ending had us both like 🤯! I personally loved the assortment of characters and their developments, as well as the theme of “Don‘t judge a book by it‘s cover”.
Stay gold, everyone. 💛🍃🍂
When I stepped out into the bright sunlight from the darkness of the movie house, I had only two things on my mind: Paul Newman and a ride home.

Oh my god, how did I never read this before??? Such a great exploration on perceptions of masculinity and class. Stay gold, Ponyboy, stay gold... 😭😭😭 🌅
Yesterday I posted a photo of my latest copy of The Outsiders. I felt like it was strictly for adding to my collection. But after I snapped the photo and posted here, I opened up the book to read my favorite opening line of all time and I kept reading until I finished the book. 🤣 Stay Gold! 🌅 Image from Google. If you are over 45 you probably remember these guys. 😍
I‘ve lost track of how many copies I have of this book. I will never forget the first time I read it. I was home sick and this was the assigned reading for my Novels class. I read it in one sitting and started all over and read it again. By the time I got back to school I practically had the entire novel memorized. Even though there have been many books I have loved, this one will always hold a special place in my heart. I have multiple editions.
And now that I'm caught up..... #friyayintro 👍👍
1. Tagged. Been a favorite since I first read it
2. Black
3. Ru Paul's Drag Race. I'm slightly obsessed
4. The Great Canadian House Hippo! Though, I still maintain they exist.....I just haven't caught one yet. #goals

'The Outsiders' changed the way I read. It totally melted my brain and made me read outside my comfort zone.
#NameABookGame
This was one of my favorite quotes from The Outsiders. I remember reading this book in middle school. Anyone else?
(Picture is not my own)
“Half the hoods i know are pretty decent guys underneath all that grease, and from what I‘ve heard, a lot of Socs are just cold-blooded mean - but people usually go by looks.”
Yes so true I love reading and want to read so much good amazing books ! Comment books I should read I don‘t care what genre it is.

(I have no need to cry either. My daughter gave me a new copy as mine is well read and well loved)
