This is a fun little ghost mystery. In this first installment, Cassidy and her fam are hunting ghosts in Edinburgh. Except she's the only one that can actually see ghosts. It made me more intent on visiting Edinburgh in the not too distant future. The #audiobook is well done and only about 5 hours. I immediately downloaded the next book. I hardly ever do that.

‘You are never too old to read YA/ MG fiction. But I really wish I could have read it earlier. A page turning spooky story about a girl & her ghost friend. Can‘t wait to start the next one in the series. Narration is good. 4 🌟5hrs

Cassidy can see ghosts and step behind the veil after a near-death experience. Along with her best friend, Jacob, who is a ghost, she finds out there is more to her ability while visiting Edinburgh. I enjoyed this spooky middle grade novel and will hopefully get to the next one this month. #authoramonth
What a fun book! Fast paced and engaging enough to keep my attention while I had a lot of distractions. The Edinburgh setting didn‘t hurt either!
In fact, I‘m blowing up whatever plans I may have had for the #OutstandingOctober readathon in order to continue with the series. I‘m off to the library to pick up the next book!
An enjoyable middle grade story about a girl who can see ghosts and travel in the veil (the in between place where ghosts reside). Her best friend, Jacob, is a ghost. Though not very scary to an adult it is just enough creepy for younger readers. A perfect choice for this time of year. 4⭐ 🧡📖🧡🎃🖤☕🖤
So… finished the tagged book last night. It was a bit juvenile for my tastes abut still creepy. Woke up this morning and had to snap this picture on my way in to work. Did I die in my sleep? Can I see the veil now?

I‘ve always loved ghost stories. I absolutely eat them up. If it has a ghost involved I‘ll usually give it a read. And since it‘s spooky season I figured now would be a great time to share a few of my favorites. Have you read any of these?

Happy Tuesday everyone! Here are the #Two4Tuesday questions for today. Thanks to everyone who played last week.
🎃 Yes! I am excited about playing.
🎃 The tagged book and also the next book in the Ruth Galloway series. I want to read the next book in the Dresden Files series in October but the library says 8 weeks for my hold!😱

These are two books were gifted to me by fellow Littens. Looking for Alaska was a gift from @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks and City of Ghosts was from @wanderinglynn Thanks you guys! This is such a wonderful community! 💞
Finally posting my #BookSpinBingo results. 6 books in Aug - no #BookSpin, but read and greatly enjoyed my #DoubleSpin City of Ghosts! Middle grade spooky is about the right level of spooky for me; the narration and humor were positives. Might finish the trilogy someday, but I'm often bad about that. Also listened to Emily of New Moon and Keep This to Yourself. Read Dial A for Aunties, Framed! and my free space was Headliners.
This is probably is one of the first horror novels I‘ve read. It was pretty good. Definitely not something I read in elementary school. I thought it was annoying how the author would do the thing where you press enter for suspense like twice a page. Cassidy can see ghosts. So when her parents get a tv show hunting‘s ghosts, she and her best friend Jacob, a ghost, she is a bit unnerved. A good book, but I don‘t think horror‘s my genre. 3⭐️
I love book mail! Thanks Lynn! I was so surprised when I opened my mailbox! It looks so good! Can't wait to dig in! You are so kind and thanks again!🥰🥰🥰
People think that ghosts only come out at night, or on Halloween, when the world is dark and the walls are thin. But the truth is, ghosts are everywhere. In the bread aisle at your grocery store, in the middle of your grandmother's garden, in the front seat on your bus. Just because you can't see them doesn't mean they aren't there.
I‘m now officially a fan of Victoria Schwab! And of the spookier genre. I flew through this book and couldn‘t wait to pick up the next one.
I listened to both of these audiobooks over the last two days, and they were fun! I really like Cassidy and her ghost-friend Jacob, and could easily picture them exploring both sides of the veil in Edinburgh and in Paris. The predicaments they faced and the spooky foes that threatened them kept me listening.
Now I‘m looking forward to book 3, Bridge of Souls, which I have a physical copy of. It takes place in New Orleans.
Cassidy has a make believe friend Jacob...oh and he is a ghost. Cassidy‘s parents are aware of her imaginary friend and they tell Cassidy to embrace her weirdness. This story follows Cassidy as she travels with her parents who are historians of lore to Scotland to host a tv show about ghosts/ history. Cassidy learns about her ability to move into the realms of the living and dead. Good middle grade read that‘s just the right amount of scary.
Thank you so much @StaceGhost for my surprises! I love everything! The raven pouch is my favorite because I absolutely love ravens! It is breathtaking! I feel like I want a tattoo of the rhyme on the front of that journal! 😁The coffee looks delicious along with the candy, which I may have indulged just a little too much! I can‘t wait to read the book! Continued in comments... @MaleficentBookDragon #AllHallowsReadSwap
Perfect for fall/Halloween - a girl who can cross the Veil and see ghosts accompanies her parents to the world's most haunted cities for their ghost-hunting show. First stop - Edinburgh in Scotland.
I really enjoyed this and Edinburgh is the perfect place to start a tour of haunted places. I have been to a lot of the places mentioned and while I quibble with some, it felt recognizable to me. I want to go back...
This is a perfect ghost story to read during Halloween time! I just loved everything about this book. But who wonders - just take a look at who wrote it. The friendship between Cas and Jacob is so wonderful and I loved reading about the myths and tales of Edinburgh.

My first Schwab is a ghost story for younger readers. Cass has a ghost friend since she nearly drowned and can go behind the veil. The highlight for me was the description of Edinburgh, the city that Cass visits with her parents. I recognised the places from my visit a few years ago. It's the first part in a series, I think, and there are hints that there is still a lot to learn for Cass.
I heard of this book from the What Should I Read Next podcast. I added it to my list because it took place in Edinburgh and before the ‘rona shut everything down I was supposed to go. And once we‘re able to travel again I intend to! It did give me ideas for a couple of new places to visit so that worked out. It‘s a super fast perfectly enjoyable read. I suppose if I were younger this would‘ve also been pretty spooky!
Cassidy Blake hasn‘t been the same since she almost drowned. Now her best friend is a ghost, she can sense when ghosts are near, and she can cross into the veil. But when she travels to Edinburgh with her parents to film their new tv show, she learns that there may be more to her new abilities than she knew.
This was my #DoubleSpin for October.

Fantastic read! I loved the main character and world building — I am definitely going to have to read the sequel. What made this especially fun was that I got to visit Edinburg a few summers ago, so I remembered some of the places mentioned! Spooks galore 👻
