I read this to see if I could gift it to my granddaughter for Xmas. She 9 plays soccer, volleyball, and cheers… so she‘s outgoing and adventurous… but I don‘t know if it‘s appropriate for her age due to scary ghosts and what happens in the book so I need your help… if you think it‘s appropriate please send me your opinions thank you for your help 😊📖

This book was so thrilling and adventurous. I got this book from my #hauntedhollowswap and finally had the time to pick it up and read it. I‘m in to the next book in the series‘s while waiting for my next #AuldLangSpine book to show up!! The City Of Ghosts left me in awe of the way V. E. Schwab, could write as a kid and portray all the details that follow being a middle schooler who could see ghosts.😂
10/10 recommend!!

It's #middlegrademonday once again! Let's share ghost stories!

I loved the tagged book because it's perfect for kids on the older end of middle grade but not fully ready for YA. And it's set in Scotland!

Schwab has become one of my favorite authors. She writes mostly about magic‘s afterlife- ghosts and other supernatural beings. This is a middle grade book. It held my attention and I enjoyed it. Nothing gruesome or gory- just some great ghost hunting. Book #93 in 2024

YA by same author as The Invisible Life of Addie Larue. I saw this somewhere on a list of ‘spooky‘ books to read this fall and I was happy to get it from the library. Despite not being a big spooky fan, this is YA and set in Edinburgh so I figured I could handle it. I have been to every spot the story unfolds in so it was great fun to visualize everything happening.

It‘s 7 pm and we should be eating dinner but I just want to sit and have a moment to myself with a book after a day that tried my patience ( grade 4 girl drama is the worst )

I swear someone posted about this book in the last week or two, I can‘t remember who 👵🏻 I put it on hold at the library and saved it for after summer ended. It‘s YA and set in Edinburgh where we went earlier this summer and I‘m excited to be transported back and maybe a little creeped out

I can‘t believe it‘s been over a year since I posted. I shouldn‘t be surprised though. I swear having a baby, I feel, has accelerated time.

I‘ve decided to really focus on working through my unread pile of books and this was the first one I picked up. It was a quick, easy, and delightful read. Something I honestly needed with how bad my reading rut has been.

City of Ghosts is the perfect starting point for young readers and even adults who are interested in ghost stories. There is just enough of a spooky feeling and close encounters to draw readers in but not overwhelm them. This is a fast-paced, enjoyable read and a great series to start during October. I highly recommend this to fans of ghost stories.

So things are already pretty strange. But they're about to get much stranger. When Cass's parents start hosting a TV show about the world's most haunted places, the family heads off to Edinburgh, Scotland.

It was an ok read. It had some actiin which wasnt too bad. Hopefully the second one is a lot better.

Made me think of the scary movies I love to watch. Every time I thought I had the characters figured out something would happen to throw me off. I loved it.

Love love LOVED this audiobook. Set mostly in Scotland it‘s so atmospheric and just the right amount of spooky if you‘re a bit of a wimp. Looking forward to recommending this to my 14 year old too 😻 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Listened to this one on audiobook, mostly during a long drive. I'm not a great ear-reader, so that might be part of my middling response, but maybe also that I'm not the target audience. Others have loved it, so take that FWIW.

First in a series and it‘s a super quick read that was highly entertaining. This is geared to YA so reads a little different from her adult reads. Still amazing world building and fun characters. I even laughed a couple of times. #bookspin #readingchallenge2022 @TheAromaofBooks

My first middle grade Schwab book. It was such a fun and fast-paced/ quick read!

And I don't know if it's just me, but I always find these little things that connect the Schwab books I've read so far (except for Addie LaRue, such an outlier).
- Villains and Verity: same universe?
- Villains and Gallant: "safe"
- Villains and this one: the NDE thing

Maybe they're intentional or just me wishing for the connections, but I like them!

This was a surprisingly cute story. I have noticed that I have been enjoying a lot of younger-aged books lately (hopefully I can recommend some of them to my niece - when the time comes). This book had a great little story of friendship, some mystery, and suspense and just overall adorable!

This is a fun little ghost mystery. In this first installment, Cassidy and her fam are hunting ghosts in Edinburgh. Except she's the only one that can actually see ghosts. It made me more intent on visiting Edinburgh in the not too distant future. The #audiobook is well done and only about 5 hours. I immediately downloaded the next book. I hardly ever do that.

Looking for a series to read during spooky season that‘s not TOO scary? I recommend the Cassidy Blake series! Each book takes place in a different haunted city (Edinburgh, Paris, and New Orleans) and they‘re a lot of fun!

‘You are never too old to read YA/ MG fiction. But I really wish I could have read it earlier. A page turning spooky story about a girl & her ghost friend. Can‘t wait to start the next one in the series. Narration is good. 4 🌟5hrs

I enjoyed this spooky middle grade novel and will hopefully get to the next one this month. #authoramonth

What a fun book! Fast paced and engaging enough to keep my attention while I had a lot of distractions. The Edinburgh setting didn‘t hurt either!

In fact, I‘m blowing up whatever plans I may have had for the #OutstandingOctober readathon in order to continue with the series. I‘m off to the library to pick up the next book!
