This is another L.M. Montgomery book I don‘t remember ever reading before, and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it today. Yes, it was a bit predictable and the quick resolution at the end was a bit unsatisfactory, but it also included the humor, variety of characters, and descriptions of nature that I love about Montgomery‘s writing.
#KindredSpiritsBuddyRead #audiobook
Oh, Jane was a delight! So many classic L.M. Montgomery themes: the overbearing relatives who don‘t understand the delightful child in their care, the romantic quarrel/misunderstanding, quirky and lovable supporting characters in a rural setting, and lovely descriptions of PEI‘s natural beauty. And of course the ending was not surprising, but I loved it all the same! Looking forward to the #KindredSpiritsBuddyRead discussion next Saturday!

I read Imagine Wanting Only This and Companion Piece.
I‘m currently reading the book about butterflies, Havanna Taxi and Remote Sympathy.
“She liked a candle better than a lamp. It went out so graciously…the thin trail of smoke… the smoldering wick, giving one wild little wink at you before it left you in the dark.”
#KindredSpiritsBuddyRead
“Jane did not understand all dad said, but she put it all away in her mind to grow up to. All her life she was to have recurring flashes of insight when she recalled something dad had said.”
#KindredSpiritsBuddyRead
“The Bible is a wonderful book, my Jane. Full of corking good stories and the greatest poetry in the world. Full of the most amazingly human ‘human nature.‘ Full of incredible, ageless wisdom and truth and beauty and common sense.”
#KindredSpiritsBuddyRead
“The Snowbeams thought it was great fun when Jane named all her kitchen utensils. The teakettle that always danced on the stove when it was coming to a boil was Tipsy, the frying pan was Mr. Muffet, the dishpan was Polly, the stew pan was Timothy, the double boiler was Booties, the rolling pin was Tillie Tid.”
😂 I just can‘t. Timothy the stew pan! 🤣
#KindredSpiritsBuddyRead
I drew a random title from the windowsill pile to break up my Lunar Chronicles reading and was quite happy with this month's #KindredSpiritsBuddyRead was picked. This is a childhood favorite that I hadn't read in decades and I was glad to have the nudge to pick it up for a reread!!
Jane actually holds up pretty well over time. This and The Blue Castle are two of my favorite Montgomery's, and they have some similar themes of a dreary home life ⬇

I‘m currently reading one Litsy favorite, Fresh Water for Flowers, and plan on finish during the week.
I will start another Litsy favorite, The Secret Lives of Church Ladies. I also want to start my butterfly book.
Then I hope to get to either Imagine Wanting Only This or Earth and Ashes, or maybe I‘ll get to both.
It feels a bit sacreligius to say it, but I think this is my favorite children's book by L.M. Montgomery - and it alternates with The Blue Castle for overall favorite. Once I started this read, I just couldn't stop. 💙 #kindredspiritsbuddyread

Started Jane of Lantern Hill today for this month's #KindredSpiritsBuddyRead - only 2 chapters in, but already I'm enjoying this more than Kilmeny. I definitely don't remember this one very well although I vaguely maybe recall a TV series or movie adaptation that I watched when I read this as a child?

I want to do finish Flamingo.
I‘ve just started Mother of Invention and want to start the book by Jakhina. Both of these are due back at the library on the 9th.
I have not read this but I suspect @LeahBergen would have, or at least own a copy with a more vintage (and prettier) cover! 😊

Settled into my favorite reading spot in the house for the day. And of course I‘m enjoying this book. I haven‘t met a L.M. Montgomery book I haven‘t liked yet, I‘m just mad at myself for not reading ANY of her books when I was younger. Better late than never, though. 🤷🏼♀️
Tonight‘s plans. Not pictured: 🍾
A couple summers ago, I laid in a hammock all day reading Jane of Lantern Hill and listening to the waves in the Straits of Mackinac. That was one of the very best days. ❤️📚🌊 #HammockDay #JulyJourneys

Took me back to my childhood. I was shocked to see a stereotype being used. I didn't understand it at 10-12 years, but now I do and I will call it out even if it is from one of my favorite authors.
My #Top6Reads of 2020 (so far). This was tough as I‘ve been on a great reading run of late and could easily add another 4 or 5 to this pile (and a couple more Persephones 😆).
Thanks for asking to see my picks, @Tanisha_A ! 😘
I‘m late to the party and not sure who all has been tagged ... how about you, @Book_Fiend_Melissa ?

LM Montgomery's Anne and Emily series are beloved classics for a reason, but her other stories are equally delightful! #CanadaDay #FlyHighJuly

Tea and L.M. Montgomery.

My childhood copy of this book disappeared so I was forced to order this lovely Virago edition. When it arrived it screamed for a reread and I was so pleased that I loved it every bit as much as I did as a child. When the father Jane doesn‘t remember sends a letter to the bleak home she shares with her mother and grandmother demanding she spend the summer with him she doesn‘t want to go. However when she does she finds a new world of happiness.
I was away for the week on a much-needed, off-grid vacation, and while I was there, I read Jane of Lantern Hill for the first time. Where has this delightful book been all my life?! Seeing Jane find both herself and, eventually, her family, was so rewarding. L.M. Montgomery, I continue to bow down! #vacationread #lmmontgomery
First time reading this sweet book. ❤️ I really liked the narrator for this specific edition but I was so disappointed in the editing of it. Too many repeated lines that should have been cut in editing.
Lots of pretty covers for this Montgomery book about #sweetjane.

(Another great song! Love the Cowboy Junkies and Margo Timmins' voice!)
I‘ve been nursing a pressure headache all day, so it was a half day of work for me. After an afternoon nap (always seems to help with headaches), I‘m settled in with a cup of darjeeling tea with fresh lemon slices, and another delightful novel by one of my all time favourite authors, L. M. Montgomery. Anne will always be my kindred spirit, but Montgomery‘s lesser known heroines, such as Jane and Marigold have a special place in my heart as well.
Tundra is slowly reissuing all of LM Montgomery‘s books and they are gorgeous and I love them. #importedfromCanada
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. @rubyslippersreads #kindlitsy. It nearly sent me to tears. I love Montgomery and I have not read Jane since I was a child. I cannot wait to share this with my little girls.
Oh my—I loved this story so much! How sweet that it revolves around the relationship between a girl and her dad. And the ending 😢 Could this be better than Anne of GG?
I enjoyed this! LM Montgomery‘s books are pretty simple, and the end was tied up with a nice bow, but I still enjoyed it, overall
Didn't think I was going to find #startswithj titles on my shelves, but the Janes came to the rescue! I recently replaced my old copy of Jane of Lantern Hill with this beauty - Jane Eyre is still on my list for replacement with a prettier copy. #anditsaugust
Book Haul!!! Found these gorgeous editions at a used bookstore today. I absolutely adore L.M. Montgomery's writing. She just makes me want to pack my bags and travel up to Canada. #lmmontgomery #books #novels #theemilyseries #janeoflanternhill #literature #canadianauthors
This is another favorite #childhoodread by LM Montgomery. I loved Jane and still think of her every time I see a Persian cat. #riotgrams
Continuing in my quest to replace my old 90s editions of my L.M. Montgomery books with more attractive cover design. Sadly that 90s cover art is alive and well, and by far is the easiest to find. But I'm tracking down some pretty alternatives!
My favorite #canadianauthor! L.M Montgomery's stories are part of my favorite childhood memories. My lifelong dream is to visit Prince Edward's Island. #marchintoreading @RealLifeReading
Dammit, Book Depository! Read my lips: #bookbuyingban ! *sigh* *unsubscribe* (But you know I'll come crawling back because I love you so.)
The struggle is REAL, people. Time to go find some more excess stuff to donate!
When a little bibliotherapy is in order, L.M. Montgomery is always a good call. #electionday
