This one is for you @SassenachTheBookWizard we all know how much you hate book covers that don't match the content.
This book was not what I expected. I think it is done a disservice by its title, which to me sounded like a selfish approach to get ahead. I resisted reading it but wanted to read all the classic sales books and I‘m glad I did. Rather than teaching how to be fake it actually lays out the reasons why it pays to be nice. What a refreshing reminder of how the world should operate. The principles still hold true even 80 years later!
Reading this book at a nail salon.......Finding myself trying to hide the title. Why? I‘m actually really enjoying this book and have been pleasantly surprised at how genuine and true the advice is. The title makes it sound like you are learning how to manipulate and deceive but it doesn‘t feel that way. Did I compliment my nail tech on the massage and get an extra 5 minutes? Maybe 😇. But it made both of us feel good.....
"Three-fourths of the people you will ever meet are hungering and thirsting for sympathy. Give it to them, and they will love you."
Very true. But what can one do when one has NO sympathy for others and no idea how to have or show it?
I will lead a very successful life! Lol. Go me.
Started this a couple weeks ago but my September TBR is a Dale Carnegie book edition that includes both How To Win Friends and Influence People and How to Stop Worrying and Start Living all in one. Some things that seem obvious, some good reminders, and some good new ideas that will help me start the school year with my students, parents, and colleagues right!
I guess some of you have to have Bookamino? Right?
Please follow me, I am very often featured in my blogs and write about eveything from books to writings! Add me at: @thestoriesof_mbd as seen in the picture 👆🏻😉🌻

This is nice book with real world applicable facts about the communication. I would love to go through this book more than once.
Great book. Most millennial rely on technology as a form of first communication. I remember in the the 90s when I had to remember 20 phone numbers. I had real friends with real interactions. Unfortunately our world has changed since..... This book is a great book as it teaches us, networking skills, to get people to do something for you with out telling them to. Teaches us the dynamics of social communication.
So, I Give this book a so-so reading because it wasn‘t the revised version. So a lot of the examples were out of date and Some where kind of offensive. However, the ideas as a whole are very good. I think many of the concepts could do a person well that wants to improve their management skills. Or above management skills improve how they talk to people and how they interact.
I almost forgot, but I hit this milestone a few days ago! I am humbled by the support and friendship I've found in this community, the day I found Litsy was one of the luckiest days of my life. With #prachettsposse #Phryneappreciationclub #christiecrimeclub #litmail #litsyaroundtheworld & #payitforward I have made so many friends with the same obsessions as me.Once my current flare up has gone,I'll be running another giveaway to celebrate.❤️you all!
"Try leaving a friendly trail of little sparks of gratitude on your daily trips. You will be surprised how they will set small flames of friendship that will be beacons on your next trip."
Teddy has found this read very helpful for sniffing out new friends
Help! I get to create a 60 second animated video of "Convincing Friends to Try a New Restaurant" -- any advice? I am thinking of a yes-no flow chart ending with "offer to buy!" What do you think? 60 secs aint much and I still have to learn the software/app
Once again I am overwhelmed by the Litsy community. Instead of being an introverted housebound reader, for the past year I have been a member of the best community on the internet, surrounded by people who feel the same as I do, connected to a larger world than my small home and part of a global book family. I've given & received, joined two book clubs, am now part of three travelling book groups and have read so many new authors. Love u all!😘
Wow. I hit the 30,000 #litfluence marker! Thank you all for talking with me here. This is the only social media I am consistent with. I've found my people. My next goal - to hit a 666 following. Wh?, Because I'm a giant child and that would make me giggle.
In the same week as my Litsyversary, I manage to hit six figures! 🎉 Litsy has given me so much more than I could ever give back, the community, the friends I've made, the new authors I've discovered. My whole outlook on life has gotten so much better since becoming part of this bookish club. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to every single one of you. I love you all.😘❤️😘❤️ #litsyversary #bestcommunityonthenet

I am so humbled and grateful to be a part of this amazing community. Without Litsy and you Littens, I would still be lost in depression and anxiety, struggling to engage again with the world. I am a much happier (and much broker!) person than I was a year ago, with a much more diverse library of amazing books to get lost in. I love each and every one of you. YAY LITSY!❤️😘❤️😘❤️😘❤️😘❤️
Wow. I am humbled and thankful for each and every one of you that has friended me, liked my post, commented or added a book that I've loved. This community has been a godsend for me, I haven't interacted so much with other people, laughed so often & felt part of a group as much as I have done since joining Litsy 8 months ago. You all have saved me, from depression & anxiety, from withdrawing completely from the world in my pain & fatigue. I❤️U all.
