I finished 2021 with 29 total books read. Numbers 27, 28, & 29 were re-reads off Bridgerton books 2, 3, & 4.

The Poison Bed | E C Fremantle

Book #26 of 2021 complete! And Elizabeth Fremantle is quickly becoming a new favorite author for me! I love her character development. Francis was absolutely fascinating! I‘m not easy to surprise, but the twists and turns in this story were delightfully unexpected!

Book #25 of 2021 was another great one by Elizabeth Fremantle & I loved it!! Yes this is fiction, but even in historical records, it‘s clear that Penelope Devereaux was a force to be reckoned with!

Sisters of Treason: A Novel | Elizabeth Fremantle

Book #24 of 2021! I‘m loving Fremantle‘s writing style and her vision for bringing lesser known Tudor characters to life!

Book #23 of 2021. I thought it was great & really brought Katherine Parr to life for me. I also really loved the story of her maid, Dot. Beautifully written. Highly recommend!

Forsaking All Other | Catherine Meyrick

This was book #22 of 2021 for me. It was a quick read… partially because I couldn‘t wait to find out what happened. I loved the historical setting and detail. While I realize the damsel in distress being rescued by the love of her life is a trope, it didn‘t make this any less fun to read. I enjoyed this easy read!

The Four Winds: A Novel | Kristin Hannah

Book #21 of 2021! I really loved this story. The characters were rich and well developed. The history of the dust bowl and migrant workers in California was absolutely fascinating. The relationship between mother and daughter was very relatable as I‘m raising a teenage daughter. The only thing I didn‘t love was the ending.

Book #20 of 2021. I truly wanted to love this book, but I was disappointed. The other 5 stories just seemed more rich to me, more real. Still a huge Alison Weir fan though! 💗

Book #19 of 2021. This has been on my tbr list for a while! Love the fascinating story rooted in the theory that Catherine Carey was an unrecognized illegitimate child of Henry VIII. It definitely makes sense when you see the favor she received both from him and Elizabeth I.

Henry | Tony Riches

Book #18 of 2021. This was my favorite of Tony Riches‘ Tudor Trilogy. 💙

Book #17 of 2021 was book 2 of Tony Riches‘ Tudor Trilogy. I really enjoyed this one. The writing was a lot more smooth & descriptive. The details about Jasper‘s life were fascinating!

Book #16 of 2021. This one was ok... I needed a break from Wolf Hall. I appreciate some of the backstory of Owen Tudor, but the writing style was a little dry. I will say this: I‘ve started ‘Jasper,‘ and so far it‘s better. 🤷‍♀️

#12 of 2021. This book was recommended to me as a new grad RN working in an oncology/end of life unit at my local hospital. I‘ve always told myself, “you need to read that.” Six years later, I finally did. Such an amazing look at how we as humans face our own mortality and that of our loved ones. But even more than that, it illustrates how we as healthcare providers can do so much more for our dying patients!!

Book #11 of 2021 was completed as an audio book during my commute to & from work every day as an oncology nurse. I chose it because I had loved The Emperor of All Maladies SO MUCH. This is an absolutely fantastic narrative of genetics and of humanity. Cannot recommend enough!!!

This was book #10 for me in 2021. This new year has brought new challenges I never imagined I‘d face. I am the mother of an addict. A beautiful, intelligent, funny, and capable addict. This book marks the beginning of our recovery. I highly recommend it.

BookishMarginalia Much strength and love on your journey. 1y

#7 books finished in 2021! I have to say, I enjoyed getting to know Francesca, who is so absent from the rest of the Bridgerton books. I tore through this one pretty quickly.... quite possibly due to leading man. 💁‍♀️
