I know you too will breathe a sigh of relief
Although there are fan-fiction versions, sometimes I wish there was a sequel to P & P. It would have been a treat to see how Jane would have continued on with the characters of her creation.

My 3rd re-reading. This novel never disappoints. It‘s delightful reading. 🌹
#ThreeListThursday #TLT
So many, but I‘ll go with these 3:
1️⃣ Pride and Prejudice is my most reread book, usually once per year, also Persuasion & all of Austen‘s main canon more than once.💜
2️⃣ Daddy-Long-Legs by Jean Webster, epistolary novel from 1912. My dad was in the play in community theater & shared both book & movie with me & it reminds me of him.💚
3️⃣ The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde whenever I need a chuckle.💛
#LuckyInLove
What Elizabeth Bennet thought about poetry. She likely would not have appreciated a #LovePoem from an admirer. 🩶
#two4tuesday Thanks @dabbe for the tag!
1) I‘m spending half the day with my parents, whom I ❤️ with all my heart and who I don‘t get to see as often as I‘d like, and then the rest of the day home with the husband. I ❤️ him with all my heart, too. Lots of ❤️ to go around
2) I wanted to pick a book I‘ve read this year, so the choice was easy! Tagged! Or watch the movie.

#NewYearNewBooks
As today is the 211th anniversary of the publishing of my fave book, I went with Jane Austen for the #UnusualAuthName prompt. Austen used a pseudonym like many female authors of her era. Her 1st published novel, Sense and Sensibility was “By a Lady.” Pride and Prejudice was published in 3 volumes as “By the Author of Sense and Sensibility.”
Not a new book for me but I buy new editions that catch my eye like my 2 newest shown.
I always feared reading this book because I thought it‘d bore me to tears. I‘ll say I did get lost in some of her more convoluted sentences or archaic references. But otherwise, I enjoyed this book a great deal! I think it helped I‘ve watched and loved the Keira Knightly movie several times (I know, sacrilege watching the movie first!) but I was so pleased the movie followed the book pretty darned closely. So happy this was a challenge read, ⬇️
It‘s time to get started on 2024 reads! So I‘ll read this one for the first time, having loved the movie with Keira Knightley and Matthew McFadden. #authoramonth @Soubhiville
“I love you. Most ardently.” What can I say about this book that hasn‘t already been said? In short, this book is the perfect example of what “romance” novels have lost today. Characters with flaws who become better people by overcoming those flaws instead of being told “it‘s okay” or “people should just accept you”. Okay I‘m getting off of my soap box (comment below for more thoughts) but this is a truly perfect book in every way #52challenge
#BookBinge
I have many editions of my favorite book, but I especially love this #SpecialEdition with all of the pretty illustrations & fun ephemera tucked into it. 🪻💜
A re-re-reread as completely enjoyable as the first time. The elder Bennet sisters are possessed of such sense and propriety, and I am always impressed with Elizabeth‘s restraint and clearheaded diction under severe pressure.
Lydia‘s actions and remarks are excruciating, and though she wants a good slap at times, it is sad to remember she is only 15 as the events begin. A young girl with no parental guidance, ⬇️
Finally done with my fall assessments after a very long week, so I am doing some #audioknitting while I catch up on Mondays with Jane Austen. This week is about the chapters at Netherfield, so I assume it will he more context for how people are being rude 😆
Just finished my lesson plan for tomorrow and feeling run down, so I am catching up on Austen Mondays while I work on a sweater. This is only the second episode, but I am already looking forward to them! I‘m looking forward to learning more about the context of the book!
Little free library next to The Governors Mansion. Last night we learned country dancing. So much fun! #pemberlittens
#PemberLittens & other Austen fans
Don‘t know if you have seen the “She‘s a 10 but…” trend on Twitter where someone is a “10” BUT there‘s a weird quality that might lower their rating,
I think this person wins & love the other P&P responses too. Austen is ripe for this trend.
I offer…”she‘s a 10 but not tolerable enough to tempt me…”
Anyone else want to play? Leave your “She‘s/He‘s a 10 but…” comments below to brighten up Thursday! 🤣🤣🤣
1) Lydia Bennet and Wickham from Pride and Prejudice. 2)Ned Stark
3) NJ produced many famous authors, but I feel Judy Blume is most popular.

Pride and Prejudice still reigns as my favorite book #FromYourFavoriteAuthor (& the book pictured is my newest favorite edition) but I also wanted to acknowledge my favorite modern “comfort book” author. Molly Harper. Her librarian-turned-vampire, Jane Jameson, is also a Janeite. The Jane Jameson books evolve into her Half Moon Hollow paranormal series (my personal favorite) but all of her books/series are good snarky fun. 💜
Any #PemberLittens or other Pride and Prejudice fans looking for fresh new adaptations to watch, Fire Island is streaming on Hulu right now. It‘s the gay men‘s version of P&P. I watched it this weekend & found it to be sweet, fun & very entertaining. 💜🌈🤗

Thanks for the double tag @Ast_Arslan and @RaeLovesToRead !
1. Because Pic Collage won't do what I want it to do, here's a partial picture of one of my shelves 😂
2. I think it would be presumptuous of me to attach any importance to my reading anything. Let's say Pride and Prejudice, which I'm currently reading, so I'll finally understand everyone's references.
3. None. I never surrender! 😤😄
I always find this to be somewhat true books are always reliable and convenient 🤗📖📚🤨 going out into the world never is 💁🏼♀️
Sorry to admit this was my first reading of P&P. Very entertaining, particularly the last third. Lady Catherine de Bourgh…what a piece of work! 😂
I highly recommend the audiobook version narrated by Rosamund Pike.
#QuotsyAug21
There are many good quotes about #happiness in Pride and Prejudice, but this one, when Elizabeth effectively says “Suck it! I‘m going to do what makes me happy!” to Lady Catherine, is my favorite. 😉
“I am only resolved to act in that manner, which will, in my own opinion, constitute my happiness, without reference to you, or to any person so wholly unconnected with me.”
#QuotsyJul21
It‘s difficult to think of today‘s prompt & not pine for how England lost out as Lady Catherine de Bourgh never got a chance to learn music & share her #musical abilities.🥺
“I must have my share in the conversation if you are speaking of music. There are few people in England, I suppose who have more true enjoyment of music than myself, or a better natural taste. If I had ever learnt, I should have been a great proficient.”
#QuotsyJul21 #round
“…and turning round he looked for a moment at Elizabeth, till catching her eye, he withdrew his own and coldly said: “she is tolerable, but not handsome enough to tempt ME…”
#JulyJourneys
“What are men to rocks and mountains? Oh! what hours of transport we shall spend! And when we do return, it shall not be like other travellers, without being able to give one accurate idea of any thing. We will know where we have gone—we will recollect what we have seen. Lakes, mountains, and rivers shall not be jumbled together in our imaginations….”
When I hear #mountains,⛰I can‘t help but think of Elizabeth‘s quote in P & P.
#QuotsyJul21
For today‘s #vanity prompt, I gotta go with my girl, Mary B.💐🎤💙
“Vanity and pride are different things, though the words are often used synonymously. A person may be proud without being vain. Pride relates more to our opinion of ourselves, vanity to what we would have others think of us.”
Mary Bennet, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
Lives up to the hype. Have officially read all of her books.
So....I had a “treat yo‘ self” moment at Starbies....what do you guys think? #newtravelmug
So I just finished Pride and Prejudice the other day. First time I've ever read it and I was excited to watch the movie. .. but I feel the movie is already so different then the book after watching just the trailer.
I have almost no desire to watch it. What are your thoughts?
I'm having trouble rating this book.
I understand why this story was so highly recommended but today's mindset on marriage is so different it seems. The novel was questioning yet idolozining marriage based on short engagements. I appreciated Elizabeth being apprehensive and outspoken and I appreciate Mr. Bennett informing Elizabeth that her choice to be married to Mr. Darcy be based on if she is his equal. It was a good read.
Iffy ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4/5 stars
It is such a gorgeous day today -and I really need to get going on this book- so here I am outside my work raging in the warm sun.
I am having difficulty reading this classic because of its wording. So far it‘s not flowing for me yet
How could I post any quote but this about #compassion! #quotayfeb21 @TK-421
#PnPCovers
Today is Pride and Prejudice‘s published date; after 208 years it is still growing a passionate readership with every page turn! 🥰
Elizabeth Bennet is the epitome of a strong, discerning woman who embraces who she is.

In honor of Jane Austen‘s birthday, I am delighted to share my mini book set of Pride and Prejudice. This is one of my favorite books, and tiny cute things are some of my favorite things, so this was the perfect combination of two of my favorite things.
Ohhhhh just opened my #averyaustenholidayswap box from @BayouGirl85 and I love it! Two great books, cozy socks (it‘s cold in SC now and my floors are always freezing!) and one of my fave lines on a Koozy! Thank you! @Chrissyreadit @sprainedbrain
My #averyaustenholiday swap gift arrived today! I have obediantly placed it under the tree and will not open it until December 10. @Daisey @Chrissyreadit @sprainedbrain
I was quickly transported to the world of Elizabeth Bennet through Jane Austen‘s witty, captivating, and romantic writing. Her creation of the characters was simultaneously relatable while also leaving me groaning in all the right places. A true page turner with a slow burn.
Another great book detailing the nature of humans and how love is such an ambiguous, yet to develop and complex being. The title reflects effortlessly into its protagonists. I enjoyed the depth each character had with their own struggles and thoughts regarding any given situation. I really enjoyed how differently interpreted and truly situational and circumstantial love and hate can be. Awesome book :)
I can't let the #Pemberlittens Pride and Prejudice months finish without posting this moment of me visiting the Jane Austen museum in Bath and taking a picture with Mr Darcy.
The museum more than about Jane Austen was about the love for Colin Firth as Darcy and has lots of costumes that you can try on(like many museums in Bath). So if like me you don't have any feeling of embarrassment add Bath to your holiday wishlist after Coronavirus is over!
