Tell me….I‘ve never been so inactive here :)

Susanita Actually, you don‘t have to don‘t do anything different. This too shall pass. But if you want to jump start the process, you could reread an old favorite to help you get back in the swing of things. 3y
WanderingBookaneer Picture books, graphic novels, audiobooks (I recommend memoirs read by the author because it feels like having dinner with someone interesting and listening to their stories.) 3y
KathyWheeler Audiobooks and/or light books with short chapters have always helped me. Robert Parker‘s Spenser novels worked for me — books like that. 3y
Reggie I think for me this past year, it has been short stories and novellas that have helped me through slumps. 3y

I need advice from all the swap organizers out there. How do you select your matches and make up the match emails? I have a feeling I‘m making things more difficult for myself than they need to be.
If anyone can share their workflow I‘d greatly appreciate it. Email me if you can.
MaleficentBookDragon@gmail.com

wanderinglynn I did not do one-to-one, which made it easier for me since I have 3 tiers. Then I basically just took the name on line one and gave line 1‘s name as a match to line 2. The line 2 became line 3‘s match. If it helps, I‘d be happy to zoom or Skype with you to discuss better. 4y
LibrarianRyan Check your email. 👍 4y
sprainedbrain @Meaw_catlady is the matchmaker extraordinaire, but using a google form helps so much (since it all exports to excel for easy filtering by package size, shipping, etc). I send the emails, and I haven‘t found much to help with that process, other than having the body of the email written out ahead of time to copy/paste. I usually copy/paste for 3 at a time so I don‘t lose track of where I am, get those sent, and do 3 more. 4y

sprainedbrain We add some columns to our spreadsheet for matched to, email sent, email received, package sent, and package received so that we can make sure everyone is participating. 4y
Bookgoil I move the rows in the spreadsheet and put a black space between and pair them and highlight instead of creating more work. I use a preworded email I copy and paste with sections for each part to add at the end. Highlight for email sent with yellow and green when they respond and then yellow with their litsy name when they send and green when it‘s received. 4y
Chelleo Great thread. I probably make it more complicated too but my matching options are a bit complicated. I can say I live and die by my spreadsheet. 4y
Avanders Ooh I‘m sure you‘ve received loads of good advice by now, but if you still want any of my steps, process, or perspective, let me know! One thing I do recommend is using mail merge .... 4y

I‘ve ordered 11 books over the past weekish. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ Five from Amazon, and now six from the BN bookhaul. I just can‘t stop!! Can anyone here be the voice of reason or am I asking the wrong friends? (Probably asking the wrong friends! 🤣)

Librarybelle Probably asking the wrong friends...I ordered 10 from the Barnes and Noble book haul... 😂😂😂 5y
Lizpixie Yeah....no voice of reason from me sorry. I‘ve just finished paying off a large credit card bill for all the books I bought in June! If you‘re trying to stop buying books, Boy are you in the wrong place🤣 5y
CaroPi Sorry I think that we all love to adopt new books. In my last trip to Colombia and US I got 25 5y

hermyknee Woops 🤷🏻‍♀️ (also, same) 5y
TrishB No hope or help here 😁 5y
heidisreads I love buying books, too. I often offer them to local libraries after I‘m done reading them. It makes me feel less guilty! 5y
abookishbutterfly If I had the money right now, I‘d be buying from the B&N book haul. 🤷‍♀️ (edited) 5y
MicheleinPhilly Don‘t look at me. 5y
Crazeedi Let me see, how many books do I have that I haven't read yet? Sorry I can't help you! Lol 😉🙄 5y
Melissa_J I had about eleven new books enter my home last week, so rather than be the voice of reason I say keep the book buying flowing 😂 5y
riversong153 Voice of reason: Stop buying books! 😆 5y
TheSpineView Wish I could but I have been worse than you!🤣🤣🤣 5y
AprilMae "Stop buying books!" ( as I add 3 more to my cart and another to your pile) yeah, I'm no help ??? 5y
Redwritinghood I‘m definitely the wrong person to ask! 5y
OnlyYoo Lol I just bought books at BN too! Honestly, if it‘s fifty percent off it‘s not my fault. They made me buy it! 5y
marleed I forced myself to just 3 at the B&N 1/2 price sale because I‘m trying to have strict rules on a brand new book purchase. But then I stopped by Savers on my way home and picked up 6 thrifted books! 5y
BarbaraBB I am always ap happy when they arrive, that makes up for all the guild after ordening them 🙈😂 5y
LapReader The naughtiest I‘ve ever been was spending $500 on books in a week. Some were gifts though. 5y
Megabooks @OnlyYoo I‘m going to use that, too! 5y
Megabooks @marleed I am ridiculous because I prefer new hardcovers. I have champagne taste and a beer budget! 5y
Megabooks @BarbaraBB I know! I try to intercept the mailman! 5y
Megabooks @LapReader I‘m jealous! I would love to do that! 5y
marleed Oh I get that! I actually keep the receipts in my full price purchase hardbacks because, ya know, they are special. But this year i have anew thought... would I donate $100 annually to keep our local bookstore in business. Hell yes! So, I can purchase 1 book on the first week of each season at full price. And really, it‘s free since the book price was my donation! I like this concept - it works for me! 5y
MartinaLove You're asking the wrong friends. 😂 Enjoy your books!!! 5y
KarouBlue Girl!!!! I buy that every week! Book buying and reading - 2 separate hobbies!! 5y
Megabooks @marleed I wish I had a local indie! I only have a BAM and the BAM used chain. There is a local comic store, but I‘m not into comics. The next town over has a BN but no indie. My dad bought me three books from Parnassus for my birthday, and I‘m seeing Rainbow Rowell there (and buying Wayward Son) next month. Nashville is two or so hours away. 5y
Megabooks @MartinaLove Thanks! 😊😊😊 5y
Megabooks @MellieAntoinette That is definitely true, but I find myself gazing at my books and feeling at peace! So I guess if I can buy peace, then why not? 🤷🏻‍♀️ 5y
