It's Hot and humid here in Oklahoma so it was lovely to escape to a Shetland Summer. You'll find some beautiful pictures of the Simmer Dim on shetland.org. https://www.shetland.org/blog/gallery-simmer-dim-in-shetland and video as well.

I'm back to my Shetland reread as a way to escape the heat. I would gladly take the weather at Jimmy Perez's house rather than here in Oklahoma.

I finished this series.🙁 As always with Cleeves, the plots are intriguing, complicated, & keep me enthralled. I read these quickly, one after another. I will miss being immersed in the raw beauty of the Shetland Islands,Jimmy Perez, & other reoccurring characters, all who grow over time. All emotionally well draw,with their personal struggles & triumphs.
Finish Thin Air & Wild Fire to wrap up the #Shetlandseries #JimmyPerez, finish You‘ve Changed. Listen to 10 chps. A Botanist Guide to Parties & Poisons; read 2 ch Humankind.

I devoured this! Maybe my favorite so far. So many possibilities, yet I rarely get close to figuring out whodunnit in Shetland 😂. Of course, having watched the series helps me picture the settings, and since most of the tv mysteries are different from those in the books, it doesn‘t ruin the books by knowing how things work out. As usual, picture has nothing to do with the book, just my back yard.
Normally I wait longer between these books, but I‘m impatient to get into this one.
Another great one by Ann Cleeves. I love the Shetland series.
After disliking every other book I read during the last two weeks I returned to Cleeves. Right decision. It was a relief to be able to relax and trust that I was in good hands. This entry to the series was a little light on Perez which I found disappointing but otherwise it was good to be back in the Shetlands.
Another great installment in the Shetland series. No other books transport me somewhere else like these do. Cleeves does an amazing job describing both the atmospheric setting and island life so that as the reader, you feel like you are right there! If you like the Three Pines series, then I recommend this one to you as well!

This was my first Shetland book. I‘ve read other of Ann‘s books, & I‘ve seen the Shetland tv series, so I held off. Well. It was WONDERFUL. I started in the middle of the series, but it differs from the television episodes, so it‘s fine. Mostly, it‘s leisurely and literary, and oh, it sucks you in. Jimmy Perez is a terrific character. Highly recommended. I‘m getting close to a #BookSpinBingo!
Sunrise yesterday. It‘s been a lovely spring!
Anoher solid Shetland mystery. Only two more in the series!
#ShutdownReadathon book 4
In August I took two weeks of vacation and cautiously ventured away from home a few times. In addition to my little beach trip, I also took a couple day trips. On one of them I treated myspouse to lunch beside this beautiful lake in the mountains.
I finished 8 books, including 3-6 of the Shetland series. Also:
-The Book of Delights (Gay)
-Babel (Dorren)
-The Henna Artist (Joshi)
-Girl Gone Missing (Rendon)
Not a bad month!
#wrapup
This was just okay. I enjoyed the first half, the middle dragged on, and the ending was anticlimactic. I couldn‘t understand the culprit or their motive. I did like the setting and the audiobook narrator, but I don‘t think I‘ll continue with this series.

First week of curbside service at work is complete! Got more reading done in the first half of the week, but better than nothing.
Bailed on my #doublespin, “‘89 Walls: lost interest.
Two hours left on “Thin Air.”
I also started “Call Down the Hawk” and really enjoying it so far.
@Cinfhen
#weeklyforecast:
Either finish, or get to 75% of “Thin Air.”
I think “ ‘89 Walls” might be a bail-we‘ll see. 😅
Next up-finally starting “Call Down the Hawk.”
@Cinfhen

Finished “The Southern Book Club‘s Guide to Slaying Vampires-” ⭐⭐⭐
Making good progress on “Thin Air-” it‘s a bit of a slow burn, but I‘m really enjoying the audiobook narrator.
I also started “ ‘89 Walls-” okay so far, a quick read but not sure if I like it or not...
@Cinfhen
Love these trips to Scotland and this series is great, I only have two left now, which is both ☹️ and 😁. I promised myself I could start a new series when I finished one I was reading.
This was the usual, twisty murder tale, I guessed about a chapter before the reveal but didn‘t figure out why. Good read 👍🏻
Started this one today, but have been working most of the afternoon ☹️ so not got very far.
#weeklyforecast I‘m supposed to be on leave for a week after Tuesday so should have more of a plan. But I‘m assuming it won‘t happen so don‘t want to plan!!
His mind wandered. A week ago the Malcolmsons would have been preparing for the hamefarin‘, the house full of activity and the smell of baking. Friends and family would be turning out to help make bunting and #decorate the hall. Caroline would be in her element directing proceedings. #QuotsyDec19
Time to get back to this series! And I get to enjoy the first wild strawberries from my own garden.
Most of the books I intend to read in June. Some are missing from these piles. Should be another good reading month!
My current holiday read, soon to be gifted. But free little libraries hard to find in NY
As I haven‘t read one of her books for a while and I needed a familiar read I got stuck into this. I love the descriptions of the Shetlands and hope to get there next year. Another place I‘ve fallen for through my reading. 😊
I enjoyed the story and the ending was plausible and I didn‘t guess it at all. Great characters , very easy to imagine, helped a little by the TV series. Would be a good plane read. @MrsMalaprop
On to the next Shetland book. Hoping that my husband will come home with some much needed chocolate. #longday
Once again story kept me guessing to the end. Second: apparently all the houses in Shetland have names. I must name mine. Third: I need to go farther north than John O Groats. According to the Googles; it's doesn't appear that you can get to Shetland from there.
Whose been? 🚢🛫🤷

I just like this series so much and now I am up to date. I hope she writes another soon! #bookseries #crime #bookcovers #bookworm #books
This is the sixth book in the Shetland mystery series. Inspector Perez is called to the small island of Unst to investigate the disappearance of a young woman visiting for a wedding. Her disappearance my be linked to the sighting by some of the ghost of Peerie Lizzie, a girl drowned years ago. As with the previous books, the story is engrossing with unexpected twists. A very good read.
Continuing my weekend introvert reading party. I finished Aunt Dimity and the Widow's Curse and am on to Thin Air by Ann Cleeves.
To make it even more cozy inside, there have been thunderstorms all afternoon. There's nothing like reading on a rainy day.
#litsypartyofone
Bk6 in the Shetland series, this was a really great story, actually had me guessing at the ending. I love these books, for the setting as much as the story.Three best friends from university travel to the Shetland island of Unst for one of the groups wedding to an islander. When one of them goes missing after the ceremony, DI Perez & team are called in to search, then her body is found in a loch. Is it tied to the ghost story of a little girl?
#marchintoreading #day10 #readandeat My dinner tonight is homemade rissoles with buttered potatoes, peas & beans in bed. I feel like I'm always complaining, but I'm feeling really awful this week, really really bad flare up of my inflammatory arthritis, so if I'm not posting I'll be in hospital. Again. But geez the rissole is nice!
