Apparently Book 2 is slated for a December release! Love these characters, love this world.... especially after a bunch of "meh" reads lately. Can't wait to see how this duology unfolds ?
I loved this so much… a very well-written fantasy with Scottish elements and a fairytale feel, complete with elemental spirits, a beautiful magic system, and a freaking bard. I enjoyed the characters and how they developed with the story, and the audiobook is fantastic.
The only thing keeping this from being 5⭐️s for me is that it‘s definitely a ‘book 1‘ of a series. I‘m going to need the next book ASAP, because that ending… ugh. 💔
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
This was so good and I‘m already excited for the 2nd one! I especially loved how the big twist wasn‘t something I foresaw and how the folk/magic were rooted in lore without feeling tired. I do hope they‘ll sing for fire in the sequel, though, being ever the completionist.
The first in a series set on a magical island called Cadence. Girls have been going missing on the island Adaira, heiress of the East ask Jack Tamerlaine back from the mainland to help with finding the girls. As he is a bard and capable of singing to the spirits to get information. There are secrets, rival clans and romance in this Scottish themed story. I really enjoyed it.
🎧📚 Annoying YA trope but it didn‘t realllllly bother me.
A bastard bard is sent away for nearly a decade to learn his craft. He‘s summoned back to the isle as girls are disappearing.
Mysteries involving the girls & the question about his parentage then the tropey YA romance but thankfully no awkward sexy time.
It‘s a story with a bit of magic & earth, wind, fire & water elementals can be summoned from nature.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️+y
I really loved this book. Jack is called back to his childhood home by Adaira, the clan leader's daughter, after some of the girls in the village go missing. Jack has become a bard and Adaira is hoping he can use his gift to call the spirits of the isle to help find the girls.

The naked hardcover is really pretty with the sprayed edges. The back has the same red foil design & the spine has red foil writing.
The picture doesn‘t do it justice.

I just noticed that the endpapers are also nicer than usual. This is pretty accurate.
#Illumicrate February 2022
Really enjoying A River Enchanted by Rebecca Ross! It‘s a bit lyrical, but so far it‘s different from anything else I‘ve read so far- I‘m hoping the story gets darker and more twisted as I read since this is an Adult fantasy novel☺️ I‘m also listening to the playlist the author has set up while reading, and it‘s definitely setting up the atmosphere well📖
I had bought the BOTM edition before I realized it was my February 2022 #Illumicrate book. Of course I passed that pretty book along & kept the IC edition. I can‘t wait to read this book!
Here are my March #BookSpin and #DoubleSpin books! I can‘t wait to pick of these up!
The past 2 months I‘ve only been reading by BookSpin books, but let‘s see if I can change that up and read both this month!
Always satisfying to finish my February #BOTM on the day that I picked out my March books! This fantasy starts a new series about a divided island and the elemental magic that shapes it. Jack returns after a decade away- determined to leave as soon as possible. But he may be the island‘s only hope of uncovering what happened to the missing girls. Engaging and well-written, I am really looking forward to the next installment!
I finally got my February #BOTM a couple days ago! I‘m planning on this being my first new read in March.
When Jack returns home to find missing children, he has to confront more than just the spirits to set things right.
This is definitely THE pick for anyone who‘s enjoyed a rollicking D&D campaign. The world-building is sturdy without being Tolkien. You will 100% fall in love with Sidra (okay, that might just be me). The ending is disappointing — too open-ended to wrap up anything, which ends up feeling a bit cash-grab. #botm #longreads #fantasy
I finished this one in 2 days. I absolutely love the world she built and enjoyed spending time with the characters, and it was beautifully written. I'm so glad this is the first of a series!
I was so excited to see my box was delivered, but when I got home it hadn‘t been, even though it says it was put in my mailbox on the usps tracking. 😢 My carrier often misdelivers the mail, so I‘ve lost many a package. I contacted BOTM to see what they can do. I was looking forward to reading this and the pins!!!
Here are some choices for our fantasy round 🐉

I love this month's #BOTM bookmark. If only I could ignore them today.
Only one book this month! I‘m going to wait and see reviews on a few before I pick them up.
I‘ve never gotten a fantasy book from #BOTM so I‘m a bit nervous to read this one!
#BOTM February!
I totally put Vladimir on hold at the library 😆
I debated between this & The Golden Couple. I put TGC on hold at the library also.
A River Enchanted looks like a mystery/fantasy? Sounds like the best of two worlds. Hopefully!

I was fully expecting to skip this month, but when I read the description for this book, I decided to take a chance on this debut author. I like choosing longer books for my #BOTM, since I feel like I am getting more bang for my buck. Did anyone else choose this one?
*I won Vladimir from a Goodreads giveaway, otherwise I might have picked it instead. Excited to see what people think of it this month; it will be on my TBR for February.
I was pretty happy with the picks this month since I skipped the last few months because nothing caught my eye. It's been awhile since a fantasy caught my attention and the add on just sounded like a good sports romance. I also managed to make BFF status this month! So a pretty good way to start this week. #botm #botmbff #romance #fantasy
