Weather Girl
Weather Girl | Rachel Lynn Solomon
A TV meteorologist and a sports reporter scheme to reunite their divorced bosses with unforecasted results in this electrifying romance from the author of The Ex Talk. Ari Abrams has always been fascinated by the weather, and she loves almost everything about her job as a TV meteorologist. Her boss, legendary Seattle weatherwoman Torrance Hale, is too distracted by her tempestuous relationship with her ex-husband, the stations news director, to give Ari the mentorship she wants. Ari, who runs on sunshine and optimism, is at her wits end. The only person who seems to understand how she feels is sweet but reserved sports reporter Russell Barringer. In the aftermath of a disastrous holiday party, Ari and Russell decide to team up to solve their bosses relationship issues. Between secret gifts and double dates, they start nudging their bosses back together. But their well-meaning meddling backfires when the real chemistry builds between Ari and Russell. Working closely with Russell means allowing him to get to know parts of herself that Ari keeps hidden from everyone. Will he be able to embrace her dark clouds as well as her clear skies?

This reads like the romcom “Set It Up” but in slightly different setting. I liked that mental health was such a huge part of the story. It really was a pretty cute romance. A few wrinkles, but nothing too glaring. Breakup felt silly to me. What I did notice though is that mature content 🌶️ matches the one from the book I‘ve read prior, down to the sequence and details. This book came out 2 years earlier, it is now the trend, I guess.

I don‘t really have a fair reason why this one was Meh for me. I think maybe I‘d just been overdoing it on the romance this year, and this book tipped me over the edge? Lovely representation in terms of bodies and mental health, and I love how she writes about Jewish characters. The misunderstanding plot line wasn‘t my thing (even tho it wasn‘t between the main characters per say) but it was mostly enjoyable overall. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

LOVED this story of Ari the weather girl and her struggle with always maintaining her sunny demeanor while hiding her 'dark days'. Until she befriends the sports guy Russell and they hatch a plan to parent trap their divorced bosses to better the work environment of the station and maybe end up falling for each other in the process. This was such an honest portrayal of depression and its stigma, but also a comforting story. Also great Jewish rep!

This was more than I anticipated- I didn‘t expect the frank and honest discussion of MC‘s depression (and I didn‘t expect to identify with it so much) all in a romance between coworkers. I really liked this. #bookspinbingo #bookspin

Goodness, how sweet and spicy was this?? My first of Solomon's books and I'll quite certainly be back for more! I also loved that this book covered some "firsts" for me - 1) the meteorologist angle was great because I too am a sucker for a good rainy day or crazy weather event 2) a plus-sized HERO and 3) Jewish characters, which sounds kind of nuts but I was glad to discover it wasn't at all preachy like "Christian" books can be. ?

This Parent Trap inspired romance stars a weather girl with chronic depression and a DILF sportscaster with a dad bod to boot. This was such a sweet, uplifting story with great Jewish rep, body positivity, mental health destigmatization, and just fantastically SPICY scenes, but I did find myself getting antsy, listening on 2X speed, likely because the plot about getting their bosses back together didn‘t capture my interest.

TV meteorologist, Ari and sports reporter, Russ scheme to get their divorced bosses back together to solve the hostile work environment. This brings Russ and Ari closer together until they can‘t ignore how they feel about each other anymore. We‘re talking women in stem, body acceptance, positive mental health/therapy rep, SPICE, communication, coping of past traumas. honestly nothing to not love about this book.

Soft pick for me. I liked it, but I wasn‘t overwhelmed with love for this book. There was a lot of body positivity and great mental health representation. It felt a little forced all around. The relationship between Ari and Russell was heartfelt. They were both adults carrying past hurts and choices. I wanted more though. Not sure I can even articulate where, but it just felt unfinished at the end.

A very cute rom-com in which Ari, the local weather girl, and her cute coworker Russ try to get their divorced bosses back together after they begin creating a hostile work environment with their resentment. But in the process, maybe they start to develop feelings for each other as well? Also, both main characters are Jewish, which feels rare to me in a romance novel, and which I loved.

there‘s a ton to like about this office romcom - women in STEM, fun matchmaking shenanigans, diverse families, positive representation of therapy/mental health treatment, and oh yeah, some spicy romance too! I really enjoyed this one!

it doesn‘t exactly fit any of my reading challenge Bingo squares, but it goes toward my number goal! book 4 out of 22 on the year. #romance #romcom #romantsy

More and more rom coms feature plus sized females in a positive light but this was my first experience with a lead male in a plus sized positive character. It really worked and the over arching theme of taking care of multi-generational mental health was refreshing instead of hush hush. Women in STEM occupations also present ❤️ open door romance.

I inhaled Weather Girl in one sitting. The plot is just the right level of ridiculous for a rom-com, the characters are well-developed and well-intentioned, and it has plenty of snort-laughs to offer. Best of all, though, were the steamy and – this is key – realistic sex scenes! Honestly, I wanted to high-five Solomon through the page. I‘m married to a meteorologist and this is the first romance book I have ever read that featured someone in this profession. Ari, a tv meteorologist, and Russell, a sports reporter, find themselves falling in love while trying to get their bosses, Seth and Torrance, back together. This book tackles some big issues like depression, the challenges that come with being a single parent, as well as the ups and downs of a new relationship.

Ari is fascinated with the weather so her job as a meteorologist is perfect for her. Air‘s boss is legendary weather woman Torrance Hale who also works with her ex husband. Russell, the sports reporter and Ari, team up to solve their bosses‘ relationship problems. Chemistry builds for Russell and Ari but will Ari show her real self?

Finished this last Monday. It was a great book and had great representation on mental health. Ari is a tv meteorologist and Russell is a sports reporter. They team up to try to get their bosses back together because the friction at work those two cause is making everyone miserable. But in the meantime, Ari and Russell start having feeling for each other. But Ari also hides a part of herself from everyone. It was a great story.

Weather Girl was my pick for my January Authentic Books box, and it did not disappoint. The story covered heavier topics in a realistic way, but also found lovely moments that showed how the characters genuinely cared for and supported each other. I love that Russ was not a chiseled super man; he was a real man with a real body. Ari was also very likable. And, look how sunny and cute the others items are in this box!

Cloudy with a chance of happily ever after. From the heroine with an internal dialogue that was similar to my own sometimes (it's fine if you have a crush if you ignore it and no one knows) and a plus size hero who was sweet and a little guarded, this one won me over and distracted from the “let's get the bosses back together“ subplot that was second-hand embarrassment central for me. https://youtu.be/DE3BnvV33X4

This is a lighter romance (with a chick-lit feel) that revolves around the world of a television meteorologist. Their is some depth there as well which prevents it from feeling 'fluffy'. I really enjoyed the characters and the book and it provided a nice escape from the craziness in our world right now. I gave it 4/5 stars.
