This was an installment that showed what has happened before the first book in the series. Erik and Hese were there and they were actually the only familiar characters.

This book made me want to have some similar kind of party on my garden, that looked so amazing!

My son tends to obsess over one thing at a time for about a year. His current obsession is colors. He loves mixing them, and knowing all their names. But with infinite colors, he is always finding new ones. So to help him with his obsession, I found these postcards on Amazon with 100 different colors. I thought I would share for all those doing the #pantone2022 challenge. @Clwojick I may have to join up now

marleed Oh those are cool! 3d
Clwojick Oh my gosh! Those are stunning! I‘m obsessed with all the infinite colours too. 💜💙❤️ 3d

I thought I would love this but this wasn't really great addition to the series. Yes this was a cute story but didn't give much new information or so...

I was pretty excited to pick up the next installment of the Leaphorn & Chee series. There was good pacing here, and even though there was still a bit too much of Chee mooning over what to do about Janet, I really enjoy exploring his desire to balance his religious beliefs with his police work. At one point, he is trying to explain to Janet how he defines the Navajo concept of “hozho,“ a sort of state of harmony and balance. He says ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) “[an example] - terrible drought, crops dead, sheep dying. Spring dried out. No water. The Hopi, or the Christian, maybe the Moslem, they pray for rain. The Navajo has the proper ceremony done to restore himself to harmony with the drought.“

Chee's genuine belief in the traditions and ceremonies of the Navajo are balanced by the more pragmatic Leaphorn who, while not scornful, is definitely skeptical. I'm really enjoying this series ⬇

In many ways, this was a pretty standard romcom setup - workaholic Dawn gets jilted by her fiancee just before the wedding, and goes on the already-paid-for-honeymoon with her mom instead of her husband. Dawn and her mom have always had a slightly rocky relationship because Marnie tends to be spontaneous and free-spirited vs Dawn's obsessive Type-A planning tendencies. Widowed almost a year, Marnie has also had a recent bout of breast cancer that⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) has left her more shaken than she likes to admit. Marnie falls in love with the small town on the Cape where she and Dawn are “honeymooning“ and spontaneously purchases a rundown ice cream parlor, determined to follow her husband's dream of owning one. Dawn, of course, sees only the problems and setbacks, and ends up staying to “fix“ her mom's situation.

I did overall enjoy this book quite a bit. It was way more about Dawn and her mom -⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) the romance was definitely secondary, almost to the point that it felt like it shouldn't have even been there. There were a few things like that. There were some good thoughts on cancer and how everyone deals with it differently, etc., but it felt like there could have been more. Dawn felt almost stereotypical in her work obsession - yet is willing to take off an entire summer even though it means she definitely won't get her promotion? ⬇ 7d
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) Honestly my biggest question mark was the fact that this small town is only 2hrs away from where they live, but they literally never go back home to like, get some clothes??? It was weird.

I could nitpick this story, but honestly on the whole it was warm and sweet and I enjoyed it. Supposedly there will be more books in this series to come, and I can definitely see myself reading the next one as well.

TheAromaofBooks @Bookwormjillk - Their business plan was completely unrealistic, but I was willing to ride with it 😂 6d

Characters had their childlish game going on with each other and even though these books can sometimes be a bit absurd they still manage to be funny. Well. Let me introduce an exception. This wasn't even funny! There were really interesting secondary characters.

This had many balls and travelling by carriages so there was a historical atmosphere which was a positive thing.

This is a retelling of the Hindu legend of Kaikeyi. It's a beautiful story of her rise to power as the King's third wife and advisor to her downfall. I loved it 🧡
