The book nook is getting a few more books and a few extra comforts. I loved the suggestions I got and I will slowly be implementing them, like a lamp and cozy rug. I‘ll bring my cuddly cat when she finally relents and let‘s us bring her to the lake house. Btw, my lovely mom @Momreviews made the gorgeous tablecloth under the flowers.

I'll get around to doing a spec comparison. But on the surface, the absence of the waterproof feature is a deal-breaker for me. Same price. Might be a good time to see what Kobo is offering. #nook #nookglowlightplus #nookglowlight3 #nookglowlightupgrade #ereader

TheBookDream I was baffled by the lack of waterproof feature, until I realized that it's probably not a super popular feature amongst their target demographic, which I am increasingly thinking is senior citizens who enjoy being able to go to the store for tech help. The buttons were really popular so putting them back was a good move. (edited) 6y

TheBookDream Also, the glowlight plus is AWESOME for being waterproof and I love it for that, but it is by FAR the most temperamental to operate, and is heavy to boot. I use mine for waterproof situations almost exclusively, and one of the regular glow lights for everything else. 6y

Donna_sBookMinute @TheBookDream — The GLP is my very first ereader; so I have nothing to compare it to. But I do agree that it‘s heavy. For some reason, I‘m drawn to Kobo. I think the battery just died on my nook...sad day! It's lasted 2 years, which is about normal for a tablet, I guess. Waiting on the hubby the get home to try a new cord, and if that doesnt fix it, off to the store to buy another one. Can't be without my nook!

rjsthumbelina Yeah, battery is shot. Lasted over 2 years though, and considering how often (and for long periods of time) I read on it, I think thats probably as much as I can ask! Made it to b&n before they closed to get a new one (bc Lord knows I can't go a night without it!) 7y

monalyisha I'm sorry you're sad! But I am viciously happy.? I worked at B&N for a hot minute & I resented the Nook so much. I'd just graduated from college when they 1st came out & MGMT was like, "She's young! She must know about technology!" They stationed me by the door and made me POUNCE on people as soon as they walked in. Not only do I hate that style of customer "service," but I'm also not really into e-readers (though I admit there's a time & place). 7y

diovival @monalyisha LOL! That sounds like the dreaded department store perfume blitz. 😝 Glad the dark days of 1st gen Nook are behind you. 😂 Print books will always be my first love. I got a Nook tablet not too long ago, but I still like my old Nook Glowlight better. It's the best for travel. 7y

Jess7 I'm a big fan of my #kindlepaperwhite - it too has an optional backlight. I highly recommend it should you ever wish to reconsider. 💕📚 7y

rjsthumbelina As someone who currently works for b&n, the idea is that nook will continue to be sold and supported. Actually, Samsung bought the brand in the partnership, so all future nooks will be Samsung branded. My understanding is that Samsung also bought the nook store, so continuing to get your stuff digitally shouldn't be an issue 7y

Does anyone have this ereader? What do you think of it? I want to buy an ereader just for reading and the price on this one is really good. I don't care about it's other capabilities. It's getting annoying to read on my phone. I really just need to be able to have Overdrive and Hoopla. #ereader #Nook

jpmcwisemorgan I use a Kindle but I know people use Nooks and like them. I'm a fan of ereaders regardless of the type because the screen is bigger than a phone and when you want to read a hefty book it's easier to pack around! 7y

Graciouswarriorprincess I had a Nook and loved it. Depending on your local store, sometimes they have classes for the Nook. I have switched over to a Kindle though since I won it last year. 7y

dariazeoli You may want to wait for Prime Day next week to see if the Kindle Fire goes in sale in a few days. That would allow for Overdrive and Hoopla. From what I saw when I played in the Nook section of B&N, this tablet is comparable. Good luck! 7y

LauraBrook Whatever brand you get, I'd say go for whatever the version of a kindle paperwhite would be - can read at night, no color, and most importantly to me, NO GLARE! I have a kindle fire too and I never read on it bc it's so glare-y. I just want to read on mine, and I love my paperwhite for that. Happy shopping! 7y

Ruri_kaichou You may want to avoid the Fire or any tablet if it's just going to be for reading because of the glare. All e-readers are backlit which makes it great to read in any light. The nice thing about the Kindle (newer models) is it's really easy to push ebooks to it. And you can do some GoodReads things on it. Oh, and you can sync where you are in a book so you can switch back and forth from an audiobook. 7y

Ruri_kaichou Ack. More specifically, Audible audiobooks. I don't think it will work for any others purchased outside of Amazon 7y

LauraBrook @bookworm83 Yep, it's backlit and it's easy to adjust brightness and font size. It does connect to Amazon and Goodreads but unless I'm buying something last minute, I only use mine for reading. I love it - have had it for 3 years, no complaints. A charge lasts about a month for me, I only read in bed at night (10min to 2 hrs a time). 7y

Coleen Is that the Samsung Nook? I am typing on one right now. I have had a series of Nooks and this seems to be the best so far. However, I've not used Hoopla or Overdrive on it. I use those on my phone. 7y

Hooked_on_books My mom has it and likes it overall. Overdrive works great but she doesn't use Hoopla, so I don't know about that. She says it can be hard to see outdoors, which tends to be true with backlit ereaders. I have a nook glow light which is great outside. 7y

Day 8: Books and Ice Cream. Sorry sorry. I know I'm late for this one, but work has been super busy (yay retail) and went to bed at 7 last night 😱. So when I eat and read, I use my Nook. I don't want to get one of my paper books icky and I totally would with how wobbly my coordination is (and on that note, I'm never eating rice in public again, I got more on me than my mouth.) Yay ereaders. #riotgrams

Day 3: How I read. This is where I read, on a blanket covered wingback chair (we have 6 cats and a dog, it's fur city here) in our den. I either read on my Nook or a hardback, unless I'm reading a comic, then it is iPad. Usually I have one of our cats on my lap. #riotgrams
