I loved this book and the story was amazing. I was a little worried when I was halfway through the book and it kept reaching a climax that seemed like an ending multiple times but I‘m glad i stuck with it cuz I really enjoyed it
As blue is my favorite color I could have easily gone several directions with today's prompt. I love joining in the monthly discussion on the BOTM selections & the confetti graphic that pops up when your box is complete 🎉🎉 but I don't think I've ever mentioned how distinct their packaging is. When I'm walking towards my front door nothing jumps out as fast as the blue BOTM box. They also package their books better than Amazon. Pictured on the 👇
Guess I better get started on this 700+ page book 😬
I understand that this was supposed to be a Stephen King type epic, but there are too many insignificant characters and the plot eventually just gets stuck. Moments that are supposed to be deep are cliched and repeated too often. By chapter 100, I had to switch to the audiobook to finish and the payoff was lame. Argh! The first half was promising.
Loved this book. Very Stephen King like and I did guess the direction it was going, mainly because I‘ve read so many of these themed books.
Don‘t read if you don‘t like long, rambling books that expect you to suspend any rational thinking.
I hope he writes more like this as I need the books to fill in SK gaps 😁
Lunchtime read 😁 still ploughing through this one. Loving it though! Will try and finish tonight, but life may have other plans.
After the first 50 or so pages I thought I was reading a horror classic. After 400 it was on course to be a pick - good story, characters worth investing in and growing suspense with each page. Then he started to lose me. I wasnt a huge fan of the direction that the plot took towards the end and it all started to feel too drawn out. I do see why some people loved this though and can imagine it making a good TV adaptation.
This lot looking likely at the moment. We‘ll see where the mood takes me!
This started out strong, but ultimately has an agenda I don't approve of for horror. I can't say much more than that without giving away the plot twist. I wouldn't have stuck it out, but I'd already invested so much time in it. The ending was so poorly written and the concept makes me ill. Howevever, shout out to Christine Lakin, the audio narrator, who was good and made it bearable to listen to.
So, was thinking about the readathon. I'll be working 2/3 of the days, so the bottom row are all audiobooks. Tagged book needs to be finished by the 26th for an IRL bookclub, haven't started it yet. As for snacks.. it'll probably be leftover Halloween candy lol (and loads of coffee)

I feel like maybe an editor could have been used here. Also, this one takes a weird religious tone about half way through. I wanted to like it. I really did. ⭐️⭐️
So, today was a bust in my #LizpixiesLongWeekend #readathon I was up till 6am reading, then woke up with a eye strain headache & spent hours with a cloth on my eyes & painkillers, then my youngest came over for dinner with gelato! So no reading, but I did get three flavours(coconut&lychee, coffee&saltedcaramel, dulcedeleche)of gelato & Oporto. She‘s just left so I‘m settling back into bed but can‘t decide which book to read next. A or B?🤷🏻♀️
I LOVED THIS BOOK.
I finished earlier today and haven‘t been able to read a word since... I am going to force myself into something completely different now to try to avoid a book hangover.

I‘m ready to discuss this whenever you are @TorieStorieS 🖤
I didn‘t expect to finish this #chunkster before my short audiobook, but this captured my attention completely! I really enjoyed Chbosky‘s homage to Stephen King. There are many nods in that direction but it still manages to feel fresh & completely engaging! I am anxious to discuss the ending, @sprainedbrain ! I had been #LookingForwardToReading this one since I first heard of it! And it made for great #NightReading #GratefulReads #NamasteNovember
The audible is over 24 hours long...I'm going in! 😜
It was close between this one and The Institute... but since I‘m hoping to finish listening to his 1922 today, I am going with my #BOTM add on! Will I finish this chunkster in just one day?? Doubtful, but the very non-Halloween spirit snow is giving me the incentive to do nothing but read!! 🤣🤣🤣
@sprainedbrain I know you‘re reading this too- so it‘s an impromptu Buddy Read!! Looking forward to comparing notes with you!! Thanks to all Littens!!
I finished the tagged book last night and I need to talk to someone about it!
Anyone else read it and want to talk about this crazy book?
🎧 hmmm I think you‘re going to either love or hate this book. It comes right down to a tug of war between good & evil. If you‘re religious you might be offended or like me really freaked out. Love a good scare. I‘m in the Love It camp!! Can‘t help it. I love horror stories! I couldn‘t put it down. I hope there‘s a Book 2! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/3
Well I finally finished this beast last night. When all is said and done, I‘m not really sure how I feel. My two main thoughts are that it was a bit predictable, and I was getting really sick of all the “close calls” towards the end. Also, I chose to read this because I wanted a scary book, but this didn‘t do it for me in that aspect. I‘ll have to mull this one over a bit.
Let me preface that I picked up this book because I was looking for a good horror story this month. This book comes in at just over 700 pages and it totally exceeded my expectations. It was a slow burn of a book but worth all the time it takes to read.

Who else is reading Imaginary Friend?
13 hrs and 33 minutes so far for the #24B4Monday #readathon . Made alien pretzels while listening to this audio book for book club. It goes along with the theme for another book we read called Noir.

More from hubby/son. 🎉🎉
I really love this book but it is taking me forever to read. Such a great story and really creepy atmosphere. Awesome. 🖤 I feel like it could have used some editing (as many have said) to make the story tighter. No idea what I would cut out though. I hope I can fly through these last 200 or so pages. I‘m also hoping this has a perfect ending because I‘m tired, y‘all. 😅
I'm going to need a vision check after this one. 700 pages with alrernating type in two days. My eyes need a vacay. Lol. I enjoyed this story that reads a lot like Stephen King and nothing like the authors first book. A classic good vs evil horror with a religious theme. Besides the fact it could of been 300 pages shorter i enjoyed it. 🦌🦌🦌🦌
