Sign-ups close Friday or when the list is full for #AuldLangSpine - a yearly challenge where you swap “best of” lists from the previous year with another Litten and pledge to read at least one book off your match‘s list next January. This year was my first time joining and I greatly enjoyed it - in fact, I have one book on my December tbr from it 🥰
Go check out @monalyisha posts to find out more and sign up if you‘ve not done so already.

Isn‘t this journal beautiful? A colleague asked me for a summer reading list of about 5 or 6 books. I‘ve been having fun working on it, but I have 9 books on it so far! 😁😳

MerlinTheSlightlyAwkward Ohmygoodness, this needs a puffy textured version, where all the little book spine corners can be touched 😳 😍 12mo
tjwill @MerlinTheSlightlyAwkward It is slightly textured, where you can feel the spines sticking out. 12mo

Never is too late🤗Thanks for the tag @Kelly_The_Bookish_Sidekick

📚It will depend if I‘m interested in the premise & genre recommended. But definitely will like to know books read by this celebrity, favorite genres, and authors that person likes. It is a way to know the person. But I don‘t follow many celebrities, except Litsy friends🥰

📚Various sources, friends, bookstore staff, some media like Litsy, YouTube, they provide updated information

TheSpineView Thanks for playing! 🤩📖📚 3y

Question of the day: where do you get the most useful (to you) book recs? #QotD

I'm all about that BookTube, baby.

Be sure to tag me in any responses so I see them!

Gissy Here in Litsy and from some YouTubers I‘m subscribed (I‘m subscribed to some channels because I‘m eclectic in my reading) 3y
BookDragonNotWorm Here on Litsy and some blogs I follow written by readers with tastes similar to mine. 3y
wanderinglynn Mostly Litsy. 3y

Has anyone used the Likewise app? It make recommendations based on liked movies and books. It wouldn‘t branch you out of your comfort zone but I thought it might be fun.

Lesanne I have considered it but then it occurs to me that I already have so many things I want to read and watch I‘m afraid it might stress me out having so many recommendations! 😱 4y

My aim this year is to make a dent in my stacked books on here that I've wanted to read because of fellow Littens. 7 of them are available at the library, 3 physical books that I've reserved and My Sister the Serial Killer, The Darkest Day, Her Perfect Lies and Three Women reserved as ebooks on Borrowbox. Can't seem to get Ask Again, Yes, yet though😏

MicheleinPhilly That‘s a good idea! I stack books and then rarely look at that list. I‘m partial to my Goodreads “Want to Read” and “I Want” lists. 4y
suzie.reads @MicheleinPhilly there are just too many books to read aren't there? I'm trying not to plan too much this year and mood read 😏 Realised I have reserved 3 books and will probably get them all together along with the latest Luca Veste book that I'm in first position to get 😂 4y
MicheleinPhilly All of my holds always come in together. It stresses me out! 4y

suzie.reads @MicheleinPhilly it's annoying and I will probably get them all Monday when I'm back in work and I'm dead for the first week after the Christmas break so will barely read 😂 4y
TrishB Luca Veste and Dave Jackson are doing a joint event at Waterstones in January 👍🏻 4y
suzie.reads @TrishB is that for Luca Veste's book launch? I will have read it by then might go 🙂 4y

Trying to find some new authors for my brother. He also likes legal thrillers too.
Thanks!

rather_be_reading here's a popular legal one (sorry I know you said not mainstream) 4y
Schlinkles Edgar Cantero is a fun author. 4y
Jerdencon @ratherbereading @schlinkles Thank you! will look into those! 4y
See All 14 Comments
vivastory I second Cantero. I also recommend Karin Slaughter, maybe try a standalone 4y
vivastory Also recommend Stephen Graham Jones 4y
TK421 Ramsey Campbell is a great horror writer to check out. 4y
CaitZ Becky Spratford, a Chicago area librarian, loves to read horror and has a blog with her reviews - http://raforallhorror.blogspot.com/ 4y
TheLibrarian I've heard good things about this author who has been compared to Stephen King - 4y
Jerdencon @tk421 @caitz @TheLibrarian thanks for all the suggestions! 😀 4y
BookDragonNotWorm Jack Ketchum is pretty brutal. Some of Mo Hayer's work is horror - she's great! 4y
Reggie If he hasn‘t read Robert McCammon, tell your brother he is very Stephen King adjacent. A Boy‘s Life, Stinger, Swan Song are great books by him. Also, Sarah Langan‘s The Missing is the most Stephen Kingsian novel that wasn‘t written by him I‘ve ever read. Kealan Patrick Burke‘s Kin is great and finally Ania Ahlborn‘s Brother is great. 4y
Jerdencon @BookDragonNotWorm @reggie thanks for the suggestions! 😀 4y

Ask and you shall receive 😉

@hermyknee I took a quick look through your read stack, and whipped up some suggestions. A little bit of everything. I have listened to a lot (!!!) of audiobooks, so if you want any other suggestions or are thinking a specific genre, just let me know!

Hopefully this helps you get over your reading slump for #BookFitnessChallenge 💙

hermyknee Thank you!!! These are great! I‘ve read Highly Illogical Behavior and Damned, but I haven‘t read any of the others! I really appreciate the recommendations! Sometimes it‘s hard to know if a book will be good on audio, so I‘m glad to know that these are!! ♥️♥️♥️ you rock! 5y
Clwojick No worries! Like I said, just let me know if you want anymore recommendations ♥️💙 @hermyknee 5y
