Looking forward to my spins for this month!

October 2024 - The book starts out from Charlie‘s point of view. Very interesting. Then we switch to Sam‘s point of view. And now I‘m bored.
April 2025 - I put the book down for several months. In October, I had surgery and found it difficult to concentrate on reading. April 2025 I decided to give the book another try.
There were a few parts where the book dragged. Also, the book follows 2 sisters. Who is supposed to be “the good daughter“?

This was very difficult to get through at times, being that the story was a tough one. This family goes through a lot of dark things. I did enjoy it and didn‘t expect the ending.
Such a gripping story from beginning to end. The last line has me frustrated but also makes me want to read more!

Twenty-eight years ago, Charlotte and Samantha Quinn's happy small-town family life was torn apart by a terrifying attack on their family home. It left their mother dead. It left their father—Pikeville's notorious defense attorney—devastated. And it left the family fractured beyond repair, consumed by secrets from that terrible night. ⬇️
I‘ve always thought this was an unusual last name! I thought it was made up to go with her story lines, but it‘s really her name! 🩸

This author is so solid. The writing literally pulls you in - I flew through the last 200 pages because I just couldn‘t put it down. My 2nd Slaughter novel - won‘t be my last.
TW: murder, rape, parent death, child death, miscarriage
Grabbed my current read from my Mom‘s living community‘s group “library” last year. Was hoping to give it “back” this trip but I‘ll have to be Christmas - didn‘t get the chance to finish it during this shorter trip. 😰😂

Picked this up from a Little Free Library - not sure when I‘ll get to it but 🤷🏻♀️🧟♂️ #TeamWhoYaGonnaCall

What are you reading? 😊
Felt gross all night, so I had to take a sick day today. We all know what that means, hot tea, a good book, and a floofy cat for comfort.
"Sam used the upper-right section of the footage. 'It's not right. The angle doesn't work.'
'What angle?' Ben asked.
'This.' Charlie pointed to the shadow. 'It looks like a spider's leg to me, but Sherlock Holmes over here sees a hound in the Baskerville.'"

This was an excellent book although there should be a trigger warning for the violence that does take place in the book. I found it hard to read mostly because I have 2 daughters of my own. Karin Slaughter definitely delivered as this one was tough to put down. Only complaint was the chapters felt long and I hate having to stop reading mid-chapter.
Wow. This is such a dark book. It's definitely not "enjoyable". On the other hand, it's such a good story and written so well. I read to relax, to enjoy myself, and to escape from the negativity of the world. So many parts of this book have been very uncomfortable and unpleasant. Gruesome books, horror books, or whatever you want to categorize this book, are not for me. If you enjoy those, though, you'll love this book!
Wow. What a book. Absolutely fell in love with this book and brought me back to Karin Slaughter. Great story, great characters and great writing. Love love loved it. Definitely recommend!
This is so dark, and probably not a great time to be reading it. Hopefully it will be worth it…
Not my favorite by Karin Slaughter but it was definitely good! She has a way of making you invest in characters and the story. 😀⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Finally getting around to reading the Good Daughter. I was in the mood for a Karin Slaughter and figured this was the best to go with. I‘m close to finishing all of her books. 😀
Wow. That was fantastic. Very dark tho. This is my first Karin Slaughter novel and won‘t be my last. She has a way with building characters and I enjoyed her prose.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I listened to this on audiobook over the course of a couple years, but I keep going back to it. It is truly an incredible story. Slaughter‘s plots captivate me and her characters feel very real, very human. She has a way with grizzly gore and delivers horrifying situations in such a way that I don‘t find them too over the top. I have a high tolerance for gore and blood though. Just another incredible book by this formidable author. #thriller
“What a rapist takes from a woman is her future. The person she is going to become, who she is supposed to be, is gone. In many ways, it's worse than murder, because he has killed that potential person, eradicated that potential life, yet she still lives and breathes, and has to figure out another way to thrive.”
Karin Slaughter, The Good Daughter
My second foray into audiobooks and WOW, what a ride!! What a messed up catastrophe of a story. A string of horrific events, so much sadness and trauma, but I couldn‘t stop listening. Slaughter once again weaves a complicated web of a mystery that you almost feel guilty for enjoying because the content is so horrifying.
I saw this on Onward Litsy so I thought we could play!!

My haul yesterday from Books-A-Million. I LOVE that store!!! 📚❤️
Loved it! 💚
It was dark, gritty and full of suspense. The sibling relationship felt real and it helped develop the main character, Charlie, so much. I love a book with strong female characters, who even though they are flawed, still kick ass.
28 years ago, Charlotte experienced enough trauma for one lifetime when she and her sister Sam were forced into the woods at gunpoint. After being shot and buried alive, Sam makes a miraculous recovery, and Charlotte goes on to become a renowned attorney.
Now, Charlotte is front and center as she witnesses a school shooting, and her sister Sam takes on the case to protect a potentially innocent accused teenage shooter.
This one was suspenseful!
Oh yeah I finished the big #buddyread for #teamslaughter #Scarathlon2020
It was a very thrilling and dark book. It's a #Slaughter book 😉 and I like it more than her first book (and #buddyread last year) 'triptychon'
With just over a day to go I finally finished the #TeamSlaughter Buddy Read book.
An excellent book, but quite a big read. Like all Karin Slaughter books gritty in places, and not always an easy read, but superbly written. Loved the court based section.
#Scarathlon2020
Wow, this book was rough! I couldn‘t do anything while listening because it was too dark. I balanced it out by doing a puzzle.
I probably wouldn‘t have read or finished this book if it wasn‘t the #buddyread for #TeamSlaughter
It was really dark and I didn‘t like how she retold the worst part multiple times but I understand why she did it

+51pts - currently at 22:48 hrs for #Slaughterthon #Scarathlon2020
This was my first book by Karin Slaughter. I've never been interested in her books and read this one only for #Scarathlon2020 as the group read for #TeamSlaughter
Well, it was ok. But to much on the drama side for me. To me it felt like Slaughter just needed to add more drama and some more and some. Like me when I'm adding spices to my food, just that I don't like the drama.

This ones a stand alone about sisters marked by tragedy. 2,571pts
While I‘m committed to #TeamSlaughter I couldn‘t commit to Karin Slaughter. I rarely DNF a book, but just not my cup of tea. But hey, this year I‘ve been exploring genres outside my usual reading, including thrillers, fantasy, mysteries and horror. So have moved on to Kate Atkinson‘s One Good Turn for my next #Scarathlon read.
Will start this tonight for #teamslaughter #scarathlon. In the meantime, it wasn‘t a great reading week for me save Saturday where I listened to audios while processing Italian plums off my tree. Got 13 hours of reading in, mostly audio. Finished two books, participated in some readathons, for a total of 743 points. @Clwojick #readyourway #24B4Monday #CocoTurns50 @TheSpineView @CocoReads
Pretty much the same goals for this #Readathon as this weekend, since I didn‘t get any reading done.
I have 200 pages left of Six of Crows
An hour left of Wicked Autumn on audio
I have The Good Daughter on audio and print, so I‘m hoping to get some audiopuzzling done this week.

Finished #TeamSlaughter #Scarathon2020 #buddyread today. Wow! Put in 5.5 hours to finish it today, and my reading pal #LucyGray was happy for the extended snuggle time. @Clwojick #CocosTurning50 @CocoReads #24b4monday @TheSpineView
Just started one of my favorites, The Mothman Prophesies. #Scarathon2020 #TeamSlaughter @Clwojick
#buddyread for #scarathlon #teamslaughter. Great account of how violent crime can tear apart a family and an entire community. This is my first Karin Slaughter but it will definitely not be my last. Unique characters that you care about and an intricate plot that moves at a breakneck pace. Intense scenes of violence and passionate treatment of the characters. And look! She credited #TeamSlaughter in her acknowledgments. 😆
Started this today while my son is have his tonsils and adenoids removed. #waitingroomreading #TeamSlaughter #Scarathon2020 #CocosTurning50 #ReadYourWay @Clwojick @CocoReads @TheSpineView
#buddyread for #teamslaughter during #scarathlon2020. Some pretty intense scenes. Enjoying it very much so far.
Ohmygosh, this thing should come with a health warning! I‘m not sure I breathed the whole time. There was a part that had me full-on heave-sobbing. So freaking excellent; I can‘t believe it took me this long to read her!!!
