This was very good ! I was so invested in this plot and couldn't let the book down. Time passed quickly and it was 4am when I finished...I predicted what happened to the girl but yeah it was amazing

4.75⭐ The storyline is phenomenal and the twist is otherworldly lol. I had so much fun reading this thrilling and mysterious story and I highly recommend it. It lost a .25 ⭐ because I kinda predicted half of the twist? Not all of it but I did know a part of it sooo yeah.

riversong153 I read this one years ago and can‘t remember it now! I think I still have a copy. 5mo
GreenGrl87 @riversong153 I liked it for the most part, but I was very sad and quite predictable… there was also a bit of an ick factor that was resolved (more or less) at the end, but still thinking about it through the story was a little weird. 5mo

Lucy Fur assisting mom. I really enjoyed this book! A 15 year old girl goes missing and 10 years later, there is movement on the case just as her mom starts to move on with her life.
This was a solid, entertaining read. Zero complaints. I was fully engaged, didn‘t notice any huge plot holes, it was good. I would read this author again. Two thumbs up, and book #4 of 2022. Also another off my tbr, so that‘s a win!

I enjoyed the Family Upstairs by Lisa Jewell and decided to try this book. The first half was slow and I didn‘t like the characters. The story picked up in the middle but I also figured out how the story was going to end before I got to it. I do recommend this book if you like mysteries.

This was an easy to read novel that contained absolutely no “bone-chilling suspense”. You follow the mother of a missing daughter who meets a man 10 years after her disappearance. This man also has a 10 year old little girl who eerily resembles her missing daughter. While the plot is fresh and exciting it was easy to see what would happen at every point.

So chilling. The story of a missing child and the broken lives that came before and after. The pieces get laid out as the story continues, very consistently paced. For as twisted as it became it‘s quite believable. It‘s a pick if you enjoy Dysfunctional families, suspense, “bunny boilers”.

I really cannot decide how I feel about this, which is why I‘m going with “so-so”. To the book‘s credit, I couldn‘t put it down. But, it was a bit cliche and far-fetched. I didn‘t find the characters (especially Laurel and Poppy) believable. Overall, if you‘re looking for an easy-to-read thriller, the story definitely kept my attention!

Another great story by Lisa Jewell. Told in the POV of 3 characters and in the third person. Teenager Ellie has disappeared. She has a boyfriend Theo and in competition with him she gets a math tutor named Noelle to prepare for state wide tests. Ellie disappears and there are no clues to her whereabouts. After 10 years, Seemingly unrelated people…are connected and we learn the shocking truth about Ellie‘s disappearance.

15 yr old Ellie Mack vanished without a trace leaving her family broken wondering what happened. Ten years later partial remains are found but questions remain unanswered. Laurel, Ellie's mom meets a man, Floyd with a young 9 year old daughter Poppy who has an uncanny resemblance to Ellie. Little by little Laurel unravels the mystery of what happened to Ellie and how Floyd her new beau is involved. Fantastic read I had a hard time putting it down!

So I made it 66% of the way through, but I can‘t with this bookI don‘t want to spoil anything for anyone, but it was too obvious and predictable from the start, and the character soliloquies just got to be too much! One other thing I didn‘t like and maybe it‘s my own weirdness, a few parts made me actually emotional, which is NOT what I want in my casual reading! This book just wasn‘t for me unfortunately.

Wow. That‘s all I can really say to summarize the book. The many twists and turns, the amount of times my mouth fell open.. incredible. This book is a work of art. All I can manage to type out is that you will not be disappointed. It will take everything you think you know about the plot and then turn it upside down within seconds. The end, both beautiful and tragic, shows how sinister and yet wonderful the world can be.

Carlie_jc I just read this the other day and it was heart breakingly good! 1y

I guessed the end early on, but not how things got to that point. It was nice to see it all unfold as I read. Short chapters and a really fun sense of dread propelled the story and I read it pretty quickly. There are messed up family relationships all around and one of the characters is off-the-charts creepy. A missing child story always bothers me, and this circumstance really broke my heart. But overall a fun read and a strange, twisty story.

Dysfunctional dynamics with a creep factor that is off the rails, this story is told from the perspective of several characters. There is really no "who done it" moment in this mystery, rather it unfolds before your eyes. At points I avoided reading it because I didn't want to face what came next. Mothers beware! This will tear your heart up, but the the end is worth it.

Genre: Mystery/Thriller

🌟🌟🌟🌟

Hot damn, if you want to read a story about a deranged woman with little grip on reality, this is the book for you. Alternating between past and present, and multiple POVs, the story is about a woman who loses her daughter but then by chance, finds another connection to her. I did figure out some of happened about midway through the book but things were so messed up that I didn‘t get the full story until the end.

This was compulsively readable, but I figured everything out very early. I almost wonder if that was the point? Given how the narrative unfolded and the POVs shifted, it felt like we were supposed to know what was up before the characters did. In general, I haven‘t had a thriller really surprise me in awhile. Maybe I‘m reading too many? I‘d like to find another one that keeps me guessing soon.
