Ten | Gretchen McNeil
From Possess author Gretchen McNeil comes this teen horror novel inspired by Agatha Christies And Then There Were None. Perfect for fans of Christopher Pikes Chain Letter and Lois Duncans I Know What You Did Last Summer, Ten will keep readers on the edge of their seats until the very last page! It was supposed to be the weekend of their livesan exclusive house party on Henry Island. Best friends Meg and Minnie are looking forward to two days of boys, booze, and fun-filled luxury. But what starts out as fun turns twisted after the discovery of a DVD with a sinister message: Vengeance is mine. And things only get worse from there. With a storm raging outside, the teens are cut off from the outside world . . . so when a mysterious killer begins picking them off one by one, theres no escape. As the deaths become more violent and the teens turn on one another, can Meg find the killer before more people die? Or is the killer closer to her than she could ever imagine?

Minnie‘s face was deathly pale. She stared straight ahead, eyes fixed on the back of the stained cloth seat, and bit her bottom lip so hard that Meg was afraid she would draw blood. She‘d never seen Minnie this seasick.

This was a fast paced and easy mystery thriller based loosely on And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie. Although I had an idea of the motive behind all the murders it wasn‘t clear who was doing it and that kept me interested.

While this had a nice premise - who‘s killing off the teenagers alone on an island - I honestly had trouble getting past some of the extremely juvenile actions of the characters. Yes, I know, they ARE juveniles, but there were times where I couldn‘t believe even a teenager would act so stupid or let another teenager treat them so badly. But I can say I didn‘t guess the killer, which is a plus. +16 points for #teamslaughter #scarathlon2021

This book was soo cringy. The way the teenage characters talked was soo bad. It was so stereotypical. You could definitely tell someone older wrote the teenagers. I didn't know who the killer was, but once I knew, the ending was very obvious. I'm going to give this a 1.5 star just because I didn't figure out who the killer was, but this book was very hard to get threw. The cringe factor was very high.

This is a pretty good take on Christie's And Then There Were None for the YA crowd. By virtue of it having been done before, it was a little predictable but I did not guess who the perpetrator was so that was good. There was a definite sense of menace and I could feel Meg's terror growing. But the thought that a teenager could have arranged and orchestrated all of the events was a little hard to believe. It kept me interested so 👍🏻👍🏻.

Ten is the first book I've finished in awhile and I finished this one in 2 sittings. Just when I thought I figured out the mystery in the story the author would throw another twist in the mix. If you like mysteries or thrillers and YA I'd recommend giving this one a shot.

I am so behind on updating Litsy, bare with me!

And Then There Were None for teens, the characters were poorly developed and a lot of the deaths were off-page. I didn't like the giril with mental health problems being seen as a huge burden on everyone.

There is something about being an adult that makes reading about teens getting killed more and more fun each year. In this #VacationRead ten teens go to a party on an island and one them is set on killing the others.

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick 🤣🤣🤣 I agree about the teenagers. Some books pull me back to high school and good times, others have characters that need to fall into a wood chipper. 4y

Oh man. I was so excited to read this because I loved Agatha Christie‘s “And Then There Were None”. I was not disappointed. This book got increasingly more tense and creepy as it progressed which made me read it even faster. I loved it and really appreciate the message it includes related to the teenagers involved. I won‘t spoil it for you😉

Ten teens are invited to an exclusive party at the island home of a popular classmate. Before long, they realize that something sinister is happening.

There‘s a striking similarity to Ten Little Indians by Agatha Christie.

7/10 good book! The first half was a bit slow and difficult get through but I could tell it was going to get good so I pushed through. And let me say, when it got good, it got GOOD. It was really intense and interesting and I was flipping through pages really fast and couldn‘t take my eyes off until the end! It would make me think I figured everything out just to turn around and have a HUGE plot twist! I highly recommend this book!!

This wasn't the best YA murder mystery that I've read lately, but I did enjoy it. There was some witty dialogue and some good ideas and plot twists. It was fast paced and a quick, good read. I did guess the killer - the book is a bit of an homage to a very famous book written by one of my favorite mystery authors. I've been waiting to see this plot twist used again and wasn't disappointed!

A new twist on an Agatha Christie classic. It had me on the edge of my seat until the very end. I couldn‘t put this book down, it had me wondering what was going to happen next. It had my heart racing and guessing what will happen next to them. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #Ten #GretchenMcNeil #funkopop #popvinyl #FreddyFunko #NormanBates #book #books #read #bookrecommendation #bookrecommendations #bookreport #bookreview #YoungAdult #Mystery #Horror #YA 💚💚💚💚💚

I really liked this book. Until the end.
I figured out the killer early on, but that did not take away from my enjoyment. It was a fun cross between I Know What You Did Last Summer and And Then Were None.
I just wish it had gone with a more Christie-esque ending. It unfortunately finished with a nice, neat, happy ending all wrapped up on a bow. Blah. Too bad.

Starting a new book on my kindle. I haven't done that in a while.
I love And Then There Were None, so I'm curious about this so of retelling.

Brooke_H I volunteer at our local SPCA. The staff give us strict instructions to never pet the cats‘ bellies. It‘s. So. Hard. 5y
RainyDayReading I love And Then There Were None too! An Unwanted Guest by Shari LaPena is also sort of a retelling of it. It wasn‘t as good as Agatha (granted it‘s not easy) but it was engrossing! There‘s also Ten Dead Comedians which is basically ATTWN but with comedians instead. 5y

When you have the time and a page-turner, it is such a battery recharge to finish a book in one day!

It sort of feels weird, YA or not, for there to be a retelling of Agatha Christie‘s And Then There Were None to me, but even so I enjoyed this. I didn‘t spend a lot of time comparing the two plot wise so that probably helped me enjoy this one.

Texreader Yes! It is fun to finish in a day. Don‘t remember the last time I did. 6y

According to the Amazon page, this book was inspired by Agatha Christie‘s And Then There Were None. I never read that book though I probably should.
I didn‘t like most of the characters, but the book is a fast-paced, easy read that kept me guessing until the very end. I had different suspicions throughout the book, but they were wrong, which is always fun.

This book is a YA retelling of one of my favorite books of all time #AndThenThereWereNone by Agatha Christie. Since I am very familiar with the story, there weren‘t a lot of surprises here, but unlike Christie, the characters here actually weren‘t all guilty of something. I can say, however, that they seemed a lot younger mentally than seniors in high school at least to this old lady. Short story, I knew who dunnit but still wanted to know how/why

I thought that this book would be great as it is based on a Agatha Christie‘s And then there were none. It was not that great for me. I won‘t reread it or read anything else she writes.
