I stuck with this book almost to the end despite multiple digressions because there are some good ideas hidden in here, even if it's overly obvious. But I'm in the home stretch and he has gone from letting kids skateboard to ranting about gender equality and the "end of men.". Also the patriarchy is pretty much a good thing and centuries of oppression against women is either biologically justified or completely made up. Ok dude, DNF bro.

This book is so easy to get lost in 👍

Sweettartlaura It‘s been so long since I read this... 6y
respekt1111 @Sweettartlaura It's so good! 6y
Sweettartlaura It really is. Is this your first time reading it? I‘m feeling like maybe we should pick a King classic for our October spooky read this year. 6y
See All 6 Comments
respekt1111 @Sweettartlaura yep, this is my first. I like the idea! I've really only read a few King novels. I enjoyed Misery quite a bit! 6y
Sweettartlaura Misery is another gem. The only ones I‘d vehemently talk down are The Tommyknockers, Dreamcatcher, & Under the Dome (payoff isn‘t worth it, sadly). There are a lot that are fair to middling, some that aren‘t easily accessible unless you‘re already a fan. But most are pretty good, solid 3⭐️. And a few are just amazing. I have most of them - let me know if you want to borrow any. And enjoy your first time with this one ❤️ 6y
SqueakyChu I had the good fortune to read this book without having seen the movie. Loved it! I thought it was really scary...especially listening to it while driving home at night! Then, when I finally saw the movie, I had to laugh at Jack Nicholson basically playing himself. Do yourselves a favor: book first, movie later! 6y

Whew, am I learning a thing or two about mammals. I just spent an hour and a half learning about mammary glands. Turns out a lot of what distinguishes us from reptiles and birds are our reproductive systems. Informative or TMI?

Kimzey Informative! Did they mention egg-laying mammals, such as the platypus? 6y

Pickpick

This book is unexpected and quite entertaining. A world where ghosts haunt more than houses and graveyards, and are often more pleasant than the living, except for their penchant to make you puke every time one passes through you. Hysterical, historical fantasy, set in the second half of the 19th century and featuring Sarah Winchester as a haunted woman with a passion for architecture 😉
