Although the premise of this story starts a little strange to say the least, it‘s really well executed! I loved the rawness of Stella‘s character and how she developed throughout the book.

18/52: The Kiss Quotient
Pulled out of my reading slump, yay!
This book for some reason was really hard for me to read. Like it took a while to get really into it because the plot was repetitive and irritated me at times. I love how well Stella was represented throughout the whole story, it sheds light on how autism isn‘t a disease.

Booktok made me buy it! 🤣 I was not disappointed! Just the right amount of sweet and spicy. *chef's kiss*
My #valentineswap book from @maich was fun to read. Stella, 30, hires a male escort, Michael, to help her get better at sex. Despite the fact that she‘s smart and beautiful, she hasn‘t had much luck because she has some quirks due to her autism. Take that out of the equation and you‘d still have a fun, smutty romp. I didn‘t get why they complicated things for the characters at the end; it seemed unnecessary. If you like graphic sex… 😂
Cute book, little too happily ever after, but interesting. A bit spicy.
This wasn't bad! I love that one of the main characters is autistic - that is probably what took it from a so-so to a pick for me as the character was written so brilliantly. Lots of the characters in general were very likeable too. I skipped through the (many) sex parts because they didn't really add much for me; they just made me cringe😂 On the whole, not a bad'un!

Feb wasn't as strong as I'd hoped movement wise (in part because I forgot my sports bra when I went to stay with my parents in Derbyshire lol and have now caught covid - fun!), BUT I still did 5 workouts, 5 yoga sessions and went on 4 dog walks😁 I also read 4 books which is mega for me!!

Cute story. I enjoyed this look at a character that has autism. The author did such a fabulous of showing that autism does not mean stupid and hopefully dispelling some myths. Good plot and really good character development. 4 ⭐
This was a sweet romance, with a bit of spice too 🌶️
Stella's autism causes her to dislike a lot of aspects of a relationship, like touching, kissing, or having a 'normal' conversation that's not about her econometrics job she loves. She hires an escort to teach her how to kiss, have sex, and be in a relationship. She doesn't expect to enjoy it. Michael is the sweetest man, I loved how careful he was with her boundaries ⤵️
I heard a second story on NPR that was also amazing: “In between the stolen glances and witty banter, romance novels contain thoughtful discussions of everything from dating with a disability to sex and consent. Authors Emily Henry and Helen Hoang chat all things love and romance.” Check it out here! https://www.npr.org/2022/02/14/1080623058/romance-authors-reflect-on-the-genres-...

3. Tagged

I tag anyone who wants to play!
I don‘t have a physical stack, as I only own the tagged book and I checked digital/audio versions out from my library of the other three, but my goal is to read all four of these books from @katiekat311 #newyearwhodis list. I‘m really looking forward to them!

It amazes me how much I have have read and learned about autism this year. I was tickled to discover only after I started this romance novel that the heroine is autistic. What a neat and refreshing perspective!
🎄🎄🎄🎄
How was I surprised at this steamy book when the book flap TELLS me a main character is an escort? 🤣🤣 I really enjoyed Stella and Michael and can‘t wait to read the next installments.
26 pts for TBR read and #WGWordSearch.

🌶🌶🌶 spicy but with characters that you come to really care about and root for. Loved this one!
It was a light read and I really like that the main character was autistic. I also enjoyed that the love interest was a good person but with some personal problems as well. Their insecurities played off each other well in the story. I loved Michael‘s family so much and was glad they ended up being a major part of the story. I also liked how Stella‘s success was embraced. It was a predictable love story, but perfect for a light modern romance.
A sweet, quick romance that was perfect for vacation - there was enough substance to make it feel like you weren‘t just inhaling air but was still light and frothy.
“All the things that make you different, make you perfect.”

4⭐ It was good, but I don't have anything to say about it.
I did a whole bunch of sewing and took a decent-length #audiowalk with the first 65% of THE KISS QUOTIENT. I like it so far, but I‘m also uncomfortable with how it feeds into the narrative that says everyone‘s bound to be totally into sex if they just find the right person. Stella‘s not asexual and that‘s fine, but ace folks DO exist and I wish the text at least acknowledged that. Maybe I just haven‘t hit that part yet.

I enjoyed Helen Hoang‘s first two books with ASD main characters, so I got the third as one of my August #BOTM selections.💙💛❤️
Definitely one of my favorite couples in a romance book ever, they‘re just so cute. We love the representation for a autistic main character who is just so funny
I don‘t usually read romance, but it‘s summer so I gave this a try. Happy to say I thought it was super cute, and I will read more by this author.
I enjoyed this book. This was a cute but often steamy rom-com with a refreshing take by having an autistic main character and the male character being the escort. Think Pretty Women but add positive Asian representation, woman in STEM, and an autistic woman learning more about her own sexuality.
Half of this book was light, fluffy summer read and the was a little cringe worthy but I did appreciate the fact the author‘s main character was autistic and an economist.
Helen Hoang is autistic herself; she writes that she discovered this as her daughter‘s pre school teacher approached her about her daughters diagnosis.

Stella Lane is on the autism spectrum and feels more comfortable with data and numbers than with men and lovers. She wants to be as successful with "relationships" as she is with crunching numbers though. So she hires the hero to help her learn and of course we get a happy ending!
The Kiss Quotient is a sweet but steamy debut novel with diverse, complex characters and an authentic and original plot.
I enjoyed this book even more than I thought I would! It‘s only the second romance book I‘ve ever read (not super into them generally), but I heard this one was really good and wanted to read it. I really appreciated the point of view of both the main characters! Overall, a great pick!
Spicy, romantic, funny, relatable issues, on the spectrum.. loved it
Got a few books done. I liked this one. Had those sweet and sexy moments. Honestly the cover was not one I would have picked up without others recommending it to me.
That #bookspinbingo board is filling out!
The Kiss Quotient isn‘t perfect but its flaws are forgivable for the fact that it‘s a step up from the alternatives and it‘s fun to read, perfect for fans of The Wedding Date (the Debra Messing movie, not the Jasmine Guillory book, though that recommendation would probably hold up). It‘s a solid summer read if you‘re looking for something sexy to take to the beach. Full review: https://keepingupwiththepenguins.com/the-kiss-quotient-helen-hoang/
⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
Book #26: I liked the writing of this book, and definitely found the characters super relatable. I found that the relationships outside the immediate romance felt a little... meh. Unfleshed out. Which is okay - just made the story feel a little flatter than others I‘ve loved. But I loved it overall and definitely rec for a neurodivergent romance read. Anyone have more autistic / neurodivergent romance recs?? 💗
Seriously?! I'm excited for this! On Helen Hoang's IG. 😀
I like Helen Hoang's characters! It was not what I expected at all, with Michael being an escort, but it was a fun dynamic.
I really liked the characters individually and Michael's family is phenomenal. I also think there are some sweet moments with Stella and Michael together but I also found Michael to be very jealous and a little pushy in some places and that really turned me off. I have a more in-depth review on my GR and IG
In spirit of Valentine‘s month, a book I‘m glad I decided to read till the end. While it was an obvious modern romance novel, the characters were predictable but portrayed genuinely and as a reader, there was warmth in getting to know the characters more. The highlight of the book though may have been the author‘s note at the end !
French kissing reminds her of a shark getting his teeth cleaned by a pilot fish
