Embracing the darkening days and colder weather (first full-on snow today!) with the help of the #WinterCosy Readathon. My focus will be less screen time and more page time. December: all the holiday books with some BOTM thrown in, along with Dune and finally finishing A Suitable Boy! January: some reflective reading and #NYWD book list.

PuddleJumper Whoo! Sounds fun 3d

Weekly Forecast | Thomas Gibson Inc

I‘m really enjoying Wholehearted Faith! I have more nonfiction on this #WeeklyForecast than any other this month. I‘m unsure whether I want to read a book about the Covid vaccine, so First Shots is iffy. I‘d love to get to one on the #ToBLonglist this week, but I‘m not sure where to start. Also excited for the Bookspin!

Cinfhen I can‘t believe it‘s nearly December 😱I‘m EAGERLY waiting for #pop22 to drop!!! 4d
Cathythoughts Look forward to your thoughts on Fates & Furies ( I loved it ) 4d
Megabooks @Cinfhen I can‘t get excited about reading challenges until January. The end of the year I usually take to reflect on what I‘ve read. I‘ve got a lot of reflecting to do after 500 books! 😂 January I‘ll be at my three challenges plus #nywd. 👍🏻 3d
Megabooks @Cathythoughts I read it in print when it came out. I remember being really pissed at some plot points, but I‘m thinking I‘ll like it more on audio. 3d

Imagine Wanting Only This | Kristen Radtke
post image

I have read enough graphic memoirs by now to know what I am looking for & Radtke's checks all of the boxes & more! Kristen's beloved uncle Dan dies while she's in college at the same time that she has become progressively more interested in ruins & urban exploration. What initially appeared to be a straightforward grief memoir morphs into a reflection on the power of art during times of loss & ends with some of the most powerful final pages👇

vivastory that I have come across in a graphic memoir this year. Having lost 2 family members in '21 I was profoundly moved by Radtke's work & I also appreciated that it didn't become saccharine either. The artwork is crisp & frequently breathtaking & the ideas behind the book will resonate with me for a long time. One of the best books I've read this year. #NonFictionNovember I will definitely be adding Radtke's Seek You to my #NYWD January TBR @megabooks 1w
vivastory I lucked out because I had forgotten it is on hold for me at the library & my hold arrived today! 1w
Megabooks She has a thoughtful precision to her words and art, and I really appreciate that in a graphic memoirist. In Seek You, she was able to draw in and out from larger and smaller ideas seamlessly. I‘m going to look for this one! Thanks for the tag. I hope you enjoy Seek You. 1w
vivastory @Megabooks I completely agree. She really is a master at conveying so much with so little. There's one moment in the book that was so well-executed that it was almost literally breathtaking. Imagine Wanting etc is so difficult to classify but all of her ideas worked perfectly. I'm really looking forward to Seek You 1w

My #NYWD list from @Bookzombie. Seems like it's a great list. The Thursday Murder Club and Tender is the Flesh have been on my radar for awhile. I bought Broken a month or so ago, but haven't gotten around to reading it yet. Same with the Fifth Season. My bookclub might be reading that sometime next year though, so I'm going to save it.

Thanks again @monalyisha for organizing all of this.

vivastory What a fun list! I've read, & loved, # 3, 5, 6 & 10. I checked out the Osman from the library today. 1w
Bookzombie I hope you enjoy them! If you like audio, I recommend Broken and Thursday on audio. 🙂 1w
Patchshank @Bookzombie I loved listening to Lawson's other books on audio. I checked libby to see if they had it and the wait-list is long. I was on it, but the ebook went on sale so I bought it. I'll probably just read this one even though it just won't be the same. 😅 1w
Bookzombie @Patchshank I‘m sure it will still be good in print! I use Libby for audiobooks too. The wait-list can be so long sometimes. 1w

New Year Who Dis? | Bitchy Fits

I can‘t wait to dig into this #NewYearWhoDis list from @Blaire in January! About half were already on my TBR—some I don‘t even remember adding to my Goodreads TBR, so I‘m glad for the excuse to actually pick them up! I loved Ted Chiang‘s Stories of Your Life so I‘ve been wanting to read Exhalation, and I put Crying in H Mart on my Christmas list, so I may start there… but I‘ll see where my mood (and my library holds) take me in January. 😁

BarbaraJean It‘s a good sign to me when a book I‘ve read and loved shows up on the list. Psalm for the Wild-Built wins the prize this year, especially because it‘s one I also put on my list! 2w
Cinfhen Love this list @Blaire 😍Happy reading 2w
vivastory I've noticed Becky Chambers show up on numerous #NYWD lists. I really need to read it! I also want to read Exhalation. I was floored by Stories of Your Life when I read it a few months ago 2w

Blaire @barbarajean so happy you like the list!! @vivastory @barbarajean I hope you love exhalation as much as I did. Also recommend Ezra Klein‘s interview with him on his podcast. 1w
Blaire @Cinfhen thank you!! 1w
Blaire @BarbaraJean I thought we were a good match when I saw both this book and Bryan Stevenson‘s book on your list. 1w

Thanks for this great match @monalyisha
This is the list I received from @MallenNC
The top row I own and had already planned on reading, the other books I‘d like to read over the course of 2022, especially since a bunch will work for #Booked2022
I have read #7, 12, 13, 18 & 19 - all were good 😊

MallenNC Great! I know you like audiobooks, and I happened to have listened to all four on the top row. I hope you enjoy! 2w
Chelsea.Poole @MallenNC great list! 😍📚 2w
monalyisha I'm super interested in Olympus, Texas & The Education of an Idealist. I'll be looking forward to your reviews (all of them)! 2w

Chelsea.Poole @Cinfhen yes! It‘s my first time and as @Megabooks said somewhere else I‘m “ridiculously excited” 🤩 can‘t wait to see your list too! @Mitch is my match and it‘s a great list I have to work with! @monalyisha does a fantastic job! (edited) 2w
Cinfhen Ohhhh @Mitch is a GREAT match @Chelsea.Poole 🥳🥳🥳 2w
monalyisha Thank you! 🥰 2w
Librarybelle I love @MallenNC ‘s lists and may make a screenshot of this to see her recommendations! 2w
Megabooks The Lost Family is on #AudiblePlus. Will write more later - very sick today. 2w
Cinfhen 😢 I‘m sorry / I will email u xx @Megabooks I actually bought Lost Family awhile back on Audible for $1.99 / I think u liked it ?!! 2w
Cinfhen The list is great @Librarybelle definitely take a screenshot 😌 2w
BarbaraBB Number 4 is so good & on @Megabooks list too. Maybe you can buddyread 👯‍♀️ 2w
Megabooks @Cinfhen I did like it very much, and I‘m up for a Passing #buddyread! 2w
Blaire How the word is passed was incredible. Highly recommend for a non-fiction read. 2w
Cinfhen I know @BarbaraBB , I was going to mention to @Megabooks we should do a buddyread for 2w
Cinfhen I‘ve seen that book on a bunch of best of 2021 lists @Blaire so it‘s definitely on my radar and I will be looking to read it in 2022 🤓 2w
britt_brooke I‘m hopeful you‘ll enjoy Sundown! 🤞🏼 2w
Cinfhen Thanks @britt_brooke I‘m not such a fan of SSJ but I own it, it‘s on the list, I know you liked it and it‘ll work for #Booked2022 2w
MallenNC @Librarybelle I‘m glad you like my book lists! I loved being matched with you my first year of #NYWD 1w
MallenNC @Cinfhen I listened to Sun Down Motel in October. It was the perfect creepy mystery for that time. 1w

New Year Who Dis? | Bitchy Fits
post image

I am ridiculously excited for this list of 16 books from @vivastory for #NewYearWhoDis!

I highlighted the covers of the ones that initially caught my fancy, but this is an epic match @monalyisha thank you!

7 was on my list, and I‘ve read and enjoyed 4, 8, 11, 12, 13. I‘m rereading The Martian Chronicles because I first read it nearly 30 years ago! #FeelingOld 😂

I‘m interested in more than these five, but I wanted highlight Scott‘s great list!

DGRachel Ooh, Firestarter is one of my favorite King novels. Say Nothing was good, too! 2w
merelybookish Scott has such eclectic good taste! He was sure to provide a good list 2w
monalyisha I love Ray Bradbury so, so much. 💖 And the Tove J. caught my eye, too! It was on a few different #NYWD lists & I added it to my personal TBR. Have fun! 2w
See All 25 Comments
monalyisha Also, George Saunders is my husband‘s favorite author. He‘s normally not a big reader but he greedily devours his short story collections! 2w
Megabooks @DGRachel I wrestled with whether to put that in the graphic. Same with the Baldwin, Didion, and The Stone Angel. TBH, there are only one or two that I‘m not interested in. Just an amazing list! I just wanted his list to be easily readable to those who are interested. I love seeing other pairs lists. 2w
Megabooks @merelybookish truth! 🙌🏻 I hope he likes my list half as much as I like his! 2w
Megabooks @monalyisha I really enjoyed the Saunders. I read A LOT of sci fi when I was younger, and I think it‘s something whose time has come to renter my TBR more often. I wanted to read the Jasson after the #NYRBBookClub reviews came in. Sounds really fantastic! 2w
squirrelbrain What a great list! ❤️ 2w
Megabooks @squirrelbrain right?!? So pleased. 2w
BarbaraBB Numbers 2,5, 14 and 15 are all fantastic !! 2w
Megabooks Passing is another one that has been on my “maybe someday list,” but I think I should move it to my definite TBR if you both liked it! 👍🏻 @BarbaraBB (edited) 2w
Cinfhen This is a great list!!! I‘m gonna read Passing for #Booked2022 #SmallScreenAdaptation 2w
Megabooks @Cinfhen good prompt use! I hadn‘t thought of that. 👍🏻 I‘m so bad at knowing what‘s on tv. (edited) 2w
Cinfhen I only know because I saw a Netflix sticker on a book jacket 😘 2w
Prairiegirl_reading 3 and 14 are two of my all time favourites! What a great list! Great pairing I think. 2w
vivastory @DGRachel I think it's one of his more underrated books. I'll be interested to see what the remake will be like. 2w
vivastory @monalyisha This is def one of my fave Bradbury books & I love that one of the sections is set in Independence, MO. True Deceiver kicked off my love for Tove 2w
vivastory @Cinfhen I'll be interested to see what you think of Passing 2w
Chelsea.Poole “Ridiculously excited” —> same here! 👋 that‘s a great list, have fun! 2w
Megabooks @Prairiegirl_reading for sure a great pairing! 2w
Megabooks @Chelsea.Poole fantastic!! It is!! 2w
Megabooks @vivastory like you, I‘m going to wait on purchasing until my gift cards come at Christmas 😃, but I‘ll probably read Say Nothing whenever my library hold comes in. My library does have several others, too, which is great. I‘ll definitely be reading some trickled throughout the year in addition to a few in January! 2w
SilversReviews I have only read EVERY LAST FEAR. ENJOY them all. 1w
Megabooks @SilversReviews thank you! I‘m excited! 1w

I got my #NewYearWhoDis list last night, and I‘m SO READY to go all in on @Laughterhp ‘s picks! I‘ve already read one (BLACK SUN by Rebecca Roanhorse), but the others are all new to me AND available at my library. I had a lot of fun this morning requesting the ones with holds lists (and suspending those holds so I don‘t get the books until January). Now I‘ve just gotta resist immediately nabbing the ones that‘re checked in…

monalyisha I love a reader who knows how to utilize their local library so effectively. 😍 I hope you enjoy! Ambitious list! 😅 💯 2w
monalyisha Oh, and I‘m so thrilled you haven‘t yet read Addie LaRue! I *loved* that one (it was on my list, too — & a LOT of #NYWD lists this year)! 2w
xicanti @monalyisha Addie LaRue‘s the one book I might not get in time; I‘m 209th on the list. They do have some Express copies, though, so I‘m hoping I luck into one of those in January! 2w
See All 6 Comments
monalyisha @xicanti It‘ll come in time, anyway (even if it‘s not for January). 🖤 No pressure. You‘ve got so many great ones! 📚 2w
Laughterhp Oh yay! I was so worried you were going to have read all the books on my list! I‘m glad they‘re all mostly new to you. Checking my email now for your list. 😊 2w
xicanti @Laughterhp I‘m especially excited for the mysteries on your list. I‘ve spent the last couple years really focusing on my TBR, and I blew through all the unread mysteries I owned ages ago. It‘ll be fun to get back into the genre! 2w

Following through on my promise to post a #JolabokaflodSwap wishlist! 🌲❄️📖

I‘ll likely repost, too, as I‘m just now realizing that this is *definitely* going to get buried under all of the #NewYearWhoDis match announcements when I start making those. 🙈

Megabooks The Lockwood is on my #nywd list! 😁 3w
Ruthiella 84 Charing Cross Road is the perfect book gift. 📚❤️ 3w
monalyisha @Megabooks Priestdaddy is one of my favorite books ever. I‘ve been putting it off because I have *high* expectations! 3w

monalyisha @Ruthiella So good to hear! 💞 3w
BiblioLitten Charing Cross is on my list too! 😊 3w
monalyisha @BiblioLitten Perhaps we‘ll be matched & we can each buy & send copies of the same, exact book. 😅👯‍♀️ 3w
BiblioLitten @monalyisha Ha! The thought tickled me😅😁 3w
