The Mist | Stephen King
post image
Pickpick

It was an “okay” pick. My favorite part is the beginning when the mist rolled in. It was creepy and suspenseful and atmospheric up until the characters get stranded at the grocery store. I think the story lost its steam at that point and never gained it back. I‘ve never *loved* Lovecraftian fiction (don‘t hate me!) so all of the killer creatures almost felt more darkly comedic than scary.

Up next in my #readingStephenKing project is Firestarter!!

Karkar Have you watched the Mist movie? I like I like that ending better than the book. 2mo
intothehallofbooks @Karkar I haven‘t seen it yet! My husband also said he liked the movie‘s ending. 2mo

Mehso-so

I did not love this one like I loved Salem‘s Lot and The Stand, but I‘m still glad I read it. It became more and more boring the further I read.

But I DID love that I was able to spend the first part of my Thanksgiving Day in PJ‘s, snuggling with my husband, both of us reading.

Onto the next book in my #readingStephenKing project: The Mist!! Reading King‘s books in chronological order is a personal challenge for me and I‘m really enjoying it.

Reagan I love that about Stephen King. I feel like I catch a lot but I probably miss way more than I find! 2mo

The Long Walk | Stephen King

Mehso-so

The Long Walk (one of four stories in this collection) bored me. I could definitely tell it was written by Stephen King and I think he did a lot to develop these characters while they were on their long walk. But I needed more from this world or perhaps more to set up the story before the walk began. It would have been even better to me if it were one of his *very* short stories. I doubt I‘ll reread, I just didn‘t enjoy it. #readingStephenKing

My gosh, I‘m struggling with this one. I‘m exactly halfway thru and bored to pieces. I can‘t believe it. I won‘t be DNF-ing because I‘ve wanted to read this one for-e-ver and because I‘m hoping it will pick up soon. I even added the audio to see if it helps with my interest. Not yet! But I‘m only halfway thru, so there‘s still time 😩 #readingStephenKing

Pickpick

I finished The Stand!!! What a #chunkster. It was riveting and I enjoyed every chapter, although the beginning of the book was my favorite part (when the virus was spreading and killing everyone). The characterization is on-point: I found myself anticipating that characters would do or say things just because I had gotten to know them so well. I especially loved Tom Cullen, laws yes I did.

Next up #readingStephenKing: The Long Walk!!

I just finished Book Two (out of Three) and MAN OH MAN there is a lot happening in here!! Really enjoying it.

I‘m in the NC mountains with my family for a few days. My girls have two college visits this weekend!! Hoping to finish The Stand while I‘m here. Our cabin is bear-themed. There are bears all over the place!! 🐻

Erinreadsthebooks 👏Nice! What part of the mountains? I don't think they can go wrong with a college in the mountains, but I'm partial to AppState 😎 9mo
intothehallofbooks @Erinreadsthebooks Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk!! I have twins, both want to go there because it‘s the only college in NC that has their degree choice. My son wants to go to AppState but they weren‘t doing tours yet when I scheduled this trip a few weeks ago. We‘ll come back for that one. Both are beautiful and we love the western part of the state. 🤓😎 9mo

Finally finished Book One and I‘m about one-third thru!!

At first I felt like this was such a *comprehensive* story, with so so so much detail. But as I‘ve kept reading, I can see that Stephen King wants to create his scenes totally. The extra details make the characters more human (or not human?). I have no idea where this story is going, but I‘m all in for it.
